but if you want to get technical, the amount of revenue the UFC makes and the amount of viewers every year comes nowhere close to what the NHL brings in. if anything the ufc audience is declining if you look at the numbers and compare them to what they used to be. im sure if people only wanted to see the fights....well yeah they would tune into UFC, or watch boxing just for the pac man and mayweather fights or whatever right?

not sure where you're getting that number but read that hockey brought in $3.3 billion in revenue last year which is still pretty impressive. Article also said they've already lost $230 million this year. Maybe that's where you got the number.

If you wanted to get technical, you would've compared the money generated from Hockey to Boxing.
No, hockey is a team sport, like the UFC. Boxers are individuals. Hockey and the UFC have a pretty regular shcedule that they both keep Hockey had a lockout and the UFC had to cancel an event.
well if the fighters had a union with the ufc, there would be a lockout every year because they are so underpaid and if they had a union there is no way that would ever slide.

Top tier fighters yes... in general no. i'll never forget Lorenzo's interview with some doosh at ESPN where the interviewer says something like "is it true you pay some fighters as low as $3,000" a fight and Lorenzo says "Yes, and it's also true that ESPN only paid $500 to one of your boxers the other night" pwned
yeah well if they had unions none of these bottom end fighters would be competing just to pay off their rent and pay their training camps. but then there would be labor disputes if things get ugly. happens in every sport. its all about the almighty dollar no matter how much ridiculous amounts of money you haul in

its okay though. i dont like curling. i only watch it to listen to a bunch of women screaming "harder harder deeper deeper!" but secretly hoping for a fight to break out so they can throw rocks at each other or beat each other around with brooms. just because thats the only way i can appreciate that sport doesnt mean that everybody else only watches it for that.

sure fighting is part of the game but thats not why people watch it.
When youre losing 7-0 in a meaningless game, i would figure most people wouldnt care to see a fight after every whistle anyways. sure the meatheads might cheer but thats not what hockey is about and thats not why we watch it.

hockey is about as popular in america the way american "football" is popular throughout the rest of the world. the one time where the rest of the world tunes in to watch one of their games is just so they can have an excuse to have a barbeque in the middle of winter, get drunk, and watch 5 hours of funny commercials with 12-32 seconds of action mixed in between them
