Jones vs Sonnen Co-Main Event

Will the UFC back Jones/Sonnen up with a quality co-main event? The last 2 PPV (excluding 152) that Jones was scheduled to/or did headline didn't really have 'co-main event feel' to them.

UFC 145 co-main: Rory MacDonald vs Che Mills
UFC 151 co-main: Jake Ellenberger vs Jay Hieron (replacing injured Koscheck)

Co-main will probably be GSP vs somebody

Makes sense to me with the BS co-mains when Jon headlines

They are making Jones out to be a big enough draw on his own that they don't need a great card under him.

Notice the trend there?Che Mills and Heiron,two guys probably fighting for peanuts.That is how the UFC likes to build cards,with lots of guys that make very little money.
I am sure JOnes makes a lot and Sonnen is i'm sure overpaid,so they will need lots of filler fights/fighters.

What i find worse than poor quality co-main is the entire 5 fight MAIN cards the UFC has been throwing at fans.

I agree, they figure that the two of them will be big enough draws that they won't really need any other great names in there. Makes sense, if I was the UFC, from a business standpoint, i'd do the same.

If the other cards this year are any indication, we will probably see a fairly stacked card.

Is a top notch co main really needed when there will be so much damn hype going into this fight? 151 didn't get canceled because it didnt have a good co main, it got canceled because Jones refused to sack up against a MW.

With how many cards there are in a year these days I'm sure it wouldn't be possible to have a sweet main and co main on every single one.

Idk if I agree with that. There's been a handful of times that the main event got cancelled but they promoted the co-main to main event status. Jones just didn't wanna lose a decision:)

Yeah but theres more and more and more events every year. How many 'good enough to promote to a main' co-mains can there really be?

Everyone loves stacked cards but there can only be so many. Thats probably why we are seeing more divisions and the introduction of WMMA to the UFC. Dana and lorenzo and joe need more fighters to supply our demand.

if Cowboy loses to Pettis in a bad way i could definitely see them setting it up and Cowboy and Varner not only hate eachother but Varner is the reason Cowboysd best friend is out of a job now.

just saying its got a story behind it and i'd pay to see Varner beat him again ;p

I think 2013 is going to be the year where the UFC really steps up the value of their cards, they have more talent at their disposal and are aware of the injury plague so they are better prepared to deal with them. I don't know what the co-main event will be but I'm sure it will be a worthwhile addition to the card.
