Jon Jones may have needed 2012

SistiSisti Posts: 3,978Free
For all the dialogue about Jones being (we've all heard the insults 5million times, I don't need to repeat them), it's so much crazier how amazing his career can be.

He's already the youngest UFC champ ever and became the champ by completely annhilating one of the biggest legends in history. On top of that, he's never been taken down or legit bested in an MMA fight. All this and he's 25!!!!! The possibilities of what he could be are beyond comprehension, and he probably needed this now if he ever wants to accomplish what he very realistically could, which is being considered the GOAT

The next 10 years could go so many directions for him, but he definitely has done more in MMA at 25 than any fighter in history

I have a feeling that he would have been on the fast track to screwing up his career. Anyone who gets that successful that quick, will get a big head. Not saying he deserved all the criticism, but with all that he's capable of, he probably needed some adversity to keep him hungry

Well in the end 205 is tied with the HW division as being the 2nd worst division in all of MMA. Machida was probably the only decent fighter he fought. Shogun absolutely has looked terrible in his last 4 fights, he should retire, Rampage everyone knows has been a joke for his last 5 fights, Belfort lol, a 40+ year old glass chin long past his prime fighter? Come on, he's fought cans, compared to other champions, he's had such an easy ride.

That means he beat 2 good fighters in their prime Rashad, Machida =) He beat three long past their primes, Shogun, Rampage and Belfort =) Facts speak for themselves, he's beaten two guys in their prime, and another 5 guys out the door of the UFC? That is a fact =)

Actually shogun was in his late 20's when they fought and just came off an amazing KO win over Machida. He only seems crappy now because Jones beat him that badly

Same with Vitor, he was taking names before he fought Jones, and then Jones is the one who made him look bad
  • BeanslegendBeanslegend Posts: 497Free
You are right, Shogun may have been late 20's but looking at that fight he looked late 30's. He beat Machida, but then Machida beats jones in round 1 so obviously that tells not only that styles make fights, but guys primes are subjective to the individual. Unfortunately Shogun can barely beat Vera who is ummm haha, well we know hehe. But yea I guess Belfort beat the glass chinned franklin, and just lost to Silva but of course he's just so great =) I'm not saying the fighters you mentioned are terrible, but there not fighting at there elite level. All of them have been on losing streaks unfortunately, and I love shogun and rampage =(

Well, he lost his belt to Belfort by way of verbal tapping.

Jones has just fought a bunch of wased up bums, his only legit win is Vitor (who had a broken hand and injured rib before the fight lol)

He's already the current LHW GOAT, wouldn't put it beyond him to be the HW and overall GOAT at some time either

silva will always be the goat, if jones wants that title he has to fight silva before he retires. Like so many were calling fedor the goat, had fedor retired before he came to strikeforce there would be people on this forum convinced he is the goat.

jones lets silva retire before getting a fight with him and he will regret it until he dies.

Chuck is the LHW GOAT. He was too old by the time he finally got his rematch with Rampage. (He would have won the first fight if he hadn't underestimated him and if it wasn't a one night tournament format)

explain to me how a guy who is the champion of the UFC (Shogun) is out the door of the UFC? lol

Shogun is still relevant, but to think he's as good as he was, is laughable. He's gassed so badly in like 4 fights in a row? Every guys prime is different, and every guys downfall is different too, Shogun has always been overrated, Griffin destroyed him with the entire hype of pride behind him.
Either way Jones has beaten two good guys, 1 185 Belfort thats out of his prime, a joke Rampage who fricken Bader and others can easily beat now, and Shogun who well.. lol we just described his downfall for the last couple years, not to say his win against Machida in fight two wasn't decent, but since then, he barely beats Brandon the barely in the UFC Vera... hahaha, I love facts.

No one would praise Cain if they were the wins on his record, so I don't see why they'd praise Jones, who is even bigger than Cain.
