9 Fighters Cut by the UFC

"Chad Griggs, Nick Penner, Marcus LeVesseur, John Cofer, Joey Gambino, Jeff Hougland, Jared Papazian and Yasuhiro Urishitani and Henry Martinez are the 9 released."


No surprises there really. Though I wouldn't have minded seeing Urushitani stay in the UFC, the Flyweight division is very shallow (who cares about Papazian though, guy was a total d-bag) and he only lost 2 fights. Like c'mon, a lot of fighters can lose 3 fights and be on the roster, and not to mention he's an international fighter and in a new, shallow weight class.

Just didn't make sense to me, other than that all good cuts really.

Thoughts?

Joey Gambino really got fed to the wolves and throw out into the cold all at once, wow. Papazian at 125 probably shouldn't of been cut more so than Urushitani considering he lost to Tim Elliot who's one of the top Flyweights...the guy took Easton to a majority decision at Bantamweight. The rest I agree with I guess.

No cut is ever a good one, Doesnt matter if a guy goes 0-4 it is the manner in which he loses, take Leonard Garcia for example the guy never loses by much and every fight is entertaining, the UFC is the dream every fighter aspires too so to see them lose their dream is nothing to be happy about

Unless the ufc started putting on 15 fights per event they were going to have to cut the fat with the strikeforce fighters coming in.

Surprised by the FLW cuts. The division is so shallow already. Figured they would want all the warm bodies they could find.

If so then idk why Dana wonders why fighters won't fight on short notice as its not the first time he cut someone who loss on short notice

I wouldn't have cut any of the femaleweights, seeing as the division is young and shallow. I can understand the rest of the cuttings, but am sad to see Griggs go.

yeah it's like when Derek Brunson filled in to fight Leben on under 2 weeks notice and Dana absolutely mauled him after the fight.
