You need four gold stars to get a title shot.

4 gold stars - be a champion or interim champion
3 gold stars - being a fighter fans want to watch
3 gold stars - champion lacks opponents
2 gold stars - last win was a top opponent
1 gold star - have a winning streak
1 gold stars - if Dana says so
-1 gold star - coming off a loss (unless loss was to top opponent)
-1 gold star - had an injury that delayed a previously earned title shot
-1 gold stars - if Dana says so
-1 gold stars - there are available fighters in the division people would prefer see fight for the title
-2 gold stars - champion has a lot of opponents to choose from
-3 gold stars - there is another champion / interim champion to fight the current champ (unless they have another fight already)
-10 gold stars - be currently injured or suspended and the champ wants to fight soon
-10 gold stars - if there is more then one man with equal amount of gold stars and if dana says so (unless there is more then 1 champ in division to fight)

Lets see how this works for the 205lb division...

agreed but that's kind of what I was going for except it's split up into
+3 being a fighter fans want to watch and
+1 if dana says so
and the opposite
the +1 or -1 from Dana was added mainly to break up ties... but sometimes if dana +1's someone and -1's someone it'll result in a draw

Im calling BS on the "champion has a lot of opponents to choose from". Just because there are others in line has nothing to do with the top guy's status (assuming he's ready to fight).

Edit- in Hendos case anyway. If he beats Machida and doesnt get the next shot its plain garbage.

Hendo will definitely get the title shot if he Beats machida. The winner of that fight has to get the shot. Machida was going to get the shot with a win over Bader, but when he asked for more time to get a proper training camp they gave it to Vitor. Hendo had the shot but got injured.

Plus, this isn't what the title shot system should be, it's what the ufc title shot system is. The fact that things like "if the fans want to see you" and "if dana says so" is BS but it's true.

Talk much better then you fight - minus 500
Kiss everybody's **** to get a title fight in a division you don't even fight in - minus 500

Gotcha. My main hope is to see Dangerous Dan win UFC Gold before he bows out. I think he can beat JBJ but if Sonnen gets the upset I can see him pulling a Shields and LayNpraying Hendo to a victory. That would suck for me.

I think Chaels wrestling is a lot more dangerous to JBJ then he gets credit for. Plus we've never seen JBJ off his back. He might crap his pants.
