Mismatching or purpose to show UFC superiority?

do they overrate non-ufc fighters or they just like to watch them lose on their debut?

e.g. big foot
#1: Cigano | Machida | Spider | Venom | Aldo | Jason | Barão
#2: Barry | Glover | Mutante | Gunnar | Barboza | Siver
#3: Roy | Mousasi | Belfort | Diaz | Pettis | KZ

14-2

waiting for the day GSP will announce

I honestly think they mismatch them on purpose

Instead of trying to give them an easy segue fight to build them up, they typically start them with competition that would likely beat them

Who knows tho...I just think it'd be cool to see people start off with easy fights and work their way up...kinda like glover

Jake Shields started with a tough fight, nick diaz too, DC will have his hands full with Mir (even if I think DC takes it easily), Jacare add an easy fight against Herman, Overeem started big vs the biggest ppv draw of all time, griggs got destroyed by Browne! welll i think it depends on each fighter

I don't believe the UFC mismatches new comers to the UFC on purpose to make them look like the dominant organization.

If this were the case the UFC would of never let a contracted UFC fighter go fight on a strikeforce card. Herman lost and was finished. Frank Mir was scheduled to fight DC on a strikeforce card as well until he pulled out of the fight due to injury.

Also not every newcomer to the UFC is immediately matched up with a long time sturdy UFC vet for their debut. It depends on what that fighter did outside the UFC and the hype surrounding them.

Some newcomers win their debuts and some lose.

I think the ufc send some fighter to strikeforce and were sure they were going too loose, to promote guys like DC and Jacare easily

You think the UFC was sure that Frank Mir was going to lose to DC prior to the injury? Thats not a fight where you can definitely just give the win to DC. Mir has been around for a long time and knows how to win.

This just supports my thoughts on this even more. No the UFC does not mismatch new comers to make their organization look superior.

Think about it. Once these new comers offically fight in the UFC they are now a part of the UFC and fighting for the UFC. Their organization already looks superior because the new comers decided to leave whatever company they were fighting for previously to fight in the UFC.

The UFC has already shown its superiority over other MMA organizations. They bought out Pride, the WEC, and now Strikeforce has folded mainly because of the UFC.

You are def right, the ufc is superior to the rest of the org.... but i think Mir his a gimme fight for a guy skilled like DC, his skillset fits exactly in what Mir struggles, powerful standup, ground game and explosive TD

At least he has earned fights that matter. Winning the belt twice shows he has what it takes to win fights that "matter". There are plenty more heavyweights in the UFC that are true gatekeepers. I don't believe Frank Mir is one of them. Kongo is a good example.

Mir doesn't get enough credit for his accomplishments on these forums, in my opinion.

Well it is or should be quite obvious that they are a business FIRST and sport second. They are going to market every single can they have AND they are going to make sure EVERY venue has it's share of low budget fighters to keep profits high.
    I hate GSP because....insert jealous excuse here >" ".

He won the title once when the hw division was at its worst ( WES SIM was a contender at the time!!!!)
Second time was the interim title against Nog as Randy was still champ and he couldnt even defend it against Carwin.

Thats like saying Dave Menne was a beast for winning the middleweight title.

All I'm saying is he has accomplished things in the UFC that many heavyweights haven't even came close to. If he's a gatekeeper then what are guys like Kongo, Struve, Pat Barry, etc. The list goes on.

Edit: How did this turn into a discussion about Frank Mir? LoL

all of them are below mur. Gatekeeper stops guys like kongo struve barry etc from making it into the title fight. then he loses to title contenders or champs like jds carwin lesnar etc

Debut is normally a different fight . I think UFC is not treating the other organization's fighters any different.
It is not about win or lose, it is about heart. Leave all you have in the Octagon and you are a winner in my book.

If anything they're respecting fighters by giving them big names.
