Freddie needs to step into MMA striking training for good. Pac man is probably done soon if not already.

Munoz will just makes things worse for Shogun.

He needs to train with Overeem and Kongo to get in better physical shape.

I don't think so. I think Shogun is old enough now where he wont make any huge leaps. He can certainly get better. He could re-cement himself in the top 5 if he commits to better training though.

Freddy is starting to struggle with his parkinson's and needs to slow things down a bit. maybe he is looking to help and mentor rather than flat out coaching, which would be a good thing for Rua

Shogun is still pretty young for a MMA fighter, he's just worn out from all the battles.

I hope Munoz can help him with the wrestling and Roach with head movement to avoid strikes.

Cordeiro will help with the all around MMA game and motivation

But Shogun will only get better if he really works hard and loses those extra pounds

Under the eye of Roach, let's hope he can get in terrific physical shape and really tighten up his technical boxing. I think Munoz can do a lot of good, as well, since I don't believe Shogun has ever really had the proper wrestling training he needs. This is encouraging news and a real sign that Rua is taking things seriously and wants to turn things around. Unlike some other guys, he's not content with the idea of gatekeeping; he wants to kick it up a notch, reinvent himself, and still compete at the highest level.

We've seen it happen before and there's nothing to say it won't happen again. Shogun's getting worse and Jones is improving.

The skills are there , he needs more stamina so he can keep up to a quicker pace, Freddie Roach is awsome ,BUT RUE WITH A BIG GAS TANK WOULD BE SWEET. .........I WISH HE WOULD KICK MORE, BUT I THINK THAT MAY BE BECAUSE OF HIS BAD KNEES.The Rua we saw in the 1st machida fight is the guy i love to watch .He outstruck Rua with leg kicks and solid boxing ,and he never gassed.I love his fights but he really has to work on conditioning if he wants to keep fighting at this level. The other elites at 205 just seem to train harder on cardio.IT'S PROBABLY HIS KNEES ,BUT I HOPE NOT ,WHEN HE'S ON HE'S GREAT TO WATCH ,BUT THE VERA FIGHT AND THE GUS FIGHT

Yeah, people confuse muscle definition with cardio.
The former has a lot to do with genetics. Shogun couldn't get well defined breast muscles even if you starved him.

Whats it going to take for Shogun to retire. Clearly his body cant take the abuse of proper training anymore, and that leads to him getting blasted in the Octagon.

The guy is a legend no matter what, but it doesnt help his legacy to drag out his career. Just see Chuck Liddell on that one.

Agreed, his iron jaw will only last for so long (unless he uses TRT)

He should retire if he can't get his cardio, head movement etc. where they need to be

I agree with his choice of coaches, but he needs a better conditioning/cardio coach. I also don't expect Shogun to kick anymore. His knees are done. No wonder he got Roach to improve his boxing.

what actually is wrong with his knees? does he have permanent damage??
