That was a terrible stoppage...

Koscheck was in no trouble, the punches didn't even faze him. He was moving to get up, then Herb slapped Lawler in the face with his schlong to give him the BS victory. Rematch much?

    I might call it a premature stoppage not a terrible one. he was in trouble for a second or two but then started to push Lawler away just before Herb Dean stopped the fight.

    Yeah it was terrible he wasn't evading, blocking or improving position and i didn't get to see Koscheck's head bobble some more until he went completely limp.

    koscheck would have been out in a matter of seconds, cant keep eating shots from lawler i doubt he would have recovered in the end, but it was an early stoppage like the bisping vs belfort fight.

    i am pleased for lawler though he proved alot better at 170, managing to hang in there with the grappling game of koscheck and winning the fight is pretty huge. Lawler has hendo like power he just looses his chain of thought in the octagon and forgets what he needs to do sometimes but hopefully at 170 we can see him ko alot of guys.

    koscheck is a boring fighter maybe its time to fitch him?

    True and just sitting there getting bobble headed while not evading, blocking or attempting to improve position is NOT defending yourself.

    if it wasn't stopped,then it would be a better KO for lawler.there's no way that kos is going to recover from that.if herb dean didn't stopped it,a possible two or more three punches that will put out kos.

    The moments leading up to and during the stoppage Kos made no attempt whatsoever to defend himself.

    He didn't parry/block or evade blows and he didn't try to close the distance and tie him up or use his legs to create more distance to avoid getting pummeled at mid range. He simply ate significant punch after punch and was going to be out cold in a matter of seconds.

    thats not true at all.....most of the time when a fighter gets dropped he doesn't go out at all...Granted it happens sometimes where they wake up fast....but this was a different situation.     At least half of all knockdowns from a punch or kick result from the guy getting hit temporarily losing consciousness.

    Bottom line he was just sitting there eating bombs and not defending at all. He wasn't blocking, evading, closing distance to tie him up or create space with his legs to avoid getting pummeled. He was literally a bairly conscious defenseless punching bag that had to be saved before he was put out cold if allowed to continue another second or two.

    I made it up, but it's probably more like 90%. They don't just "fall down".

    I would say 50% is way more accurate than 90. People get dropped all the time without going unconscious. You can lose your balance and not even be hurt at all.

    Still when you're sitting there clearly semi-conscious doing nothing but eating hard shot after hard shot and the only thing you're doing is getting your head bobbled with each shot it's time to stop the fight.

    Koscheck just doesn't seem to have that spark anymore. He did against Hughes but then against Pierce, Hendricks, and now Lawler he just isn't the same fighter he used to be, I don't think there's much more for him to achieve in the division and sport, I think we might see a retirement soon
