I was rewatching UFC on Fox 2 and look what i noticed

spartacus_spartacus_ Posts: 4,222Free
background:

Muñoz was expected to face Sonnen.

Bisping was expected to face Maia.

Weidman wasn't expected to face nobody.

Then, 11 before the event, Muñoz was pulled out due to an injury, and...

Sonnen, Bisping, Maia and Weidman accepted their new match-up.

then Curt Menefee asked about this short-notice situation, and here's Jon Jones reply:

I remember my UFC debut, you know? They gave me a call in about a week and a half notice. And, uh, when the UFC calls you just don't say no. Every opportunity is a gigantic opportunity.

I disagree with Jon Jones turning down the fight when he was first offered. He had the advantage to begin with why wait? stupid.

When you're the champ, you don't jump at every opportunity. Opportunity for what? He's already champ.

You take the opportunity if you aren't the champ, but when you're already the champ, there is no incentive for you to accept fights on short notice. If you're making good money and are a champ, I could see why you wouldn't want to risk it. Most guys are like this now in the UFC. JBJ probably said this before he was champ and your mentality changes when you are on top and everyone is kissing your ****.

So because he won the title his opinion on things change drastically?

Let this subject go. It was discussed enough when Jones ducked Sonnen the first time and ruined the PPV.

Jones is full of **** anyway.

I'm not sure what you're trying to ask here, but yes Sonnen did have a real opportunity to fight Jones. In fact he has had two opportunites to fight Jones.

The first one came when he offered to step up and replace Dan Henderson on 8 days notice. The second one(which is actually happening) was when he was offered to coach TUF against Jones.

you mean an opportunity to win? it's highly unlikely, but that's not the point here.

Hey, I agree, if you're a man of integrity and stay true to your word, then you would risk all the fame and fortune because of it, but we know that when most people get a taste of stardom, it's not easy to give up or risk losing it. This is what happens to a lot of champions, they will play it safe like GSP, or they will pick and choose when and who they fight rather than risk giving up the money and fame. Experiences develop your character for the worse and sometimes for the better. JBJ seems to make promises he can't keep, but he's young and inexperienced when it comes to life.

It is called being the new kid on the block,,i see people kissing **** all the time.
Chael is maybe the biggest kiss **** i have ever seen since UFC1.
I never liked Tito Ortiz one bit,but i do respect him for not being a kis **** or a puppet boy like Chael.
Jones said the rights things to get his foot in the door,it happens al lthe time, then his real feelings came out later and i respect the REAL Jones.
    I hate GSP because....insert jealous excuse here >" ".

Indeed, he had the right to turn down that fight.

But not according to his own words, though ;))
