Cruiserweight Division

Just wanted to get your thought on the potential of a Cruiserweight Division down the track.

I'm thinking between 205 and 230, and bump the weight restriction of HW up to 280.

Would you guys like to see this and who do you think could fill out this roster? Jones is obvious to move to this weight, and quite a few LHW could make the transition, but I could also see quite a few HW could make it aswell...

Yes, CW would be a great addition
Would be great we've got already enough lighterweight divisions... a Super HW or CW would be great!

    Then HW would be pointless

If they put a cap on HW at 230, that would make things interesting

But if you make HW up to 280, then Mark Hunt wouldnt have to cut weight, and would destroy anyone who was put in front of him.....

Mark Hunt already does destroy anyone put in front of him......as long as he doesn't break his toe in the first round

No, not enough talent at this point
    A 230 lbs cruiserweight division?

So who fights at heavyweight besides a handful of guys?

Dos Santos was 239 for his previous fight he could fight at 230 easily. Cain was 240 same for him. Even Fatty McNelson could probably cut to 230. Mir could make it. Cormier could obviously make it. Werdum could make it. Big Nog could make it. Browne could make it. Gonzaga could make it. Barry, Jordan, etc etc etc

That leaves Bigfoot and Horsemeat and if Alistair were off the juice he'd be around 250 and could make it.

Bump heavyweight up to 280 and that does what exactly?

Barnett could probably even cut down. So who fights at heavyweight besides Ben Rothwell, Mark Hunt, Stefan Struve, Bigfoot Silva and Alistair Overeem?

Cruiserweight division in MMA is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of no offense it's just insane. The 60 pound gap is something you have to deal with when you have less large men on the planet. If you're 240 pounds and you are getting your **** beat at heavyweight either cut to 205 or retire.

Size differences happen in all divisions. Some guys put 10 or 12 pounds back on after a weigh in. Others put 20 to 25+ back on.

    I would make it 205-225.
On November 16th Hendricks became the real undisputed champion.

Thats kinda the point, there are guys at HW who are obviously undersized for the Division, and a couple of the LHW would also be better suited to 230. Admittedly their is already too few HW but thats why the no option was not enough talent right now.

Back in the day, you used to see guys coming in at 300 plus. Sure they were crappy, but im not convinced that with carefull planning and building that HW couldnt be the div of monsters it should be.

Just cut 10 fighter each from LW and WW as they are way over compensated, and bring in some guys to build up.

It's possible in about ten years time when, hopefully, there's enough skilled big men to justify it. As it stands today, there ain't enough legit contenders at HW. All the athletic monsters are still pursuing football, but as the sport continues to grow and attract new fans, more and more of those beasts will wanna try their hand in the fight game and actually have the natural talent to excel in it.

^ Exactly all of your 6'3" to 6'7" 260-290 lbs athletic monsters are getting paid millions as pass rushing defensive ends(4-3) or outside linebackers(3-4)

You're 6'7" 330 pound behemoth is making a fortune protecting a quarterbacks blindside. Second highest paid position in the league is left tackle.

Stephen Neal is a perfect example. The man never played a single college football game in his life yet played guard with the Patriots for about ten seasons. One of the better big men in amateur wrestling during his era and he ends up in the NFL.

I would like it but two problems. One the heavier weight classes are already too thin for talent, this would dilute it further.Second problem and one i rather see fixed FIRST and above all else is to actually have legit wight classes, not weigh ins which mean nothing, just PR BS.
It is very easy to implement legit weigh classes, just have them sign contracts that forfeit large portions of money 50% and they get banned forever from that weight class if they miss weight. If they miss weight twice boot them out of the UFC.

This sport treats cheating so pathetic,it's like checking a baseball bat the day before game, then the guy goes and corks it right after.or like checking goalie equipment for size the day before, then the goalie adds cheaters and changes the pads.Check a motorsport car the day before for an illegal engine, then they go and add cheats.
Most sports check after the fact as should be the same case for weights.
    Gina Miesha Kyra ...yes please.

Cruiserweight would ruin the HW division, it's unnecessary. Cain,JDS and Werdum would fight at Cruiserweight and they're the only credible HW fighters right now.
