DJ vs Cariaso is no mismtach, HomieSpart. Kamikaze is a **** beast.... DJ is a different kind of beast though.
Yeah Cariaso is more of a regional circuit beast. Has he ever looked like a beast in the UFC at all? I only remember him just getting past Smolka (I think) in his last fight and getting subbed by Moraga, and robbing Mizugaki of a win

Cariaso will submit DJ from Rat guard.
For those of you who don't know what rat guard is google radicalmma, Rene Dreifuss or rat guard in youtube.

We don't see many submissions from guard anymore, particularly since guys with good wrestling & top control have developed such good sub defense. Even a "high level" submission grappler will have trouble starting and finishing a submission from his back in an MMA context as long as his opponent has solid defense.
It was part of the evolution of MMA. Royce was able to submit Dan Severn (a pure wrestler at the time) with a triangle after fifteen minutes on his back, primarily because Dan didn't know how or what to defend. As soon as the other guys learned basic sub defense, the reign of Royce was over and he was wise to leave the UFC. Ken Shamrock spent a half hour in Royce's guard and Royce could do nothing.
