Well of course, Jones has spent half his career fighting MW's. Interesting fight, gonna say Weidman 'cause I don't like Jones but reckon it would be close.

I would prefer to see a Jones vs. Velasquez Superfight because I know Jones would get spent in that fight.  Weidman I am not certain.

Hahahahah hell yeah, i've been saying for awhile that eventually this would come around and be the biggest Super fight in ufc history from beginning to its end.

Weidman wins via being better at jones in every aspect and winning by 2nd round knockout. (suplex slam on head)

You said Weidman would never get past Anderson. You also said he wouldn't get past Machida. Given your retarded history, I'll assume you are picking Vitor too.

At no point did you predict this fight happening.

Not gonna happen...JJ has at least 2 more fights taking him into early 2015. Weidgoat has at least 3 more fights taking him well into late 2015, maybe later. By that time SOOOOO much can and likely will happen.

As far as the theorhetical match goes...most likely Weidgoat moves up to LHW...I think he could take JJ, just dont see it ever actually happening. I am willing to bet Cain vs JJ happens before he faces Weidgoat.

I'll try to give my subjective view on the fight.

Weidman is huge at MW he is bigger than most of the guys Jones has faced at LHW and has long arms, he was noticeably taller than both Anderson, and machida if this fight ever happens I'd bet you'd see Weidman "grow" an inch and be listed at 6'3 and it'd be close enough where no one would notice like Shane "6'5" Carwin. If beats Vitor and say moose he will have taken care of the best strikers they can throw at him at MW. The best idea we could get on how Weidman could deal with size is Rockhold he is the only guy of similar size to Weidman and even he has a shorter reach but it would tell us a lot about how Weidman deals with guys who are the same size or bigger.

I'll admiit Weidman has won me alot of money over the last few years, but I think if his striking keeps improving at the pace we are seeing and he buffs up his 5 round cardio over his next few defense he could beat Jones of the feet, and he is a naturally and technically more gifted grappler than Jones has ever been Jones won't get him down and if Weidman gets Jones on his back for more than a 15-30 seconds Weidman has a significant change to submit him as Jones has shown he leaves himself open on the ground from time to time. Most important thing for Weidman over the next year or two it would take to set this fight up is to work on his cardio and keep challenging himself against good strikers

Actually, he doesn't have the advantage anywhere, except size and strength.

Jones is athletically gifted and just skilled enough to use his enormous physical gifts to win.

He's really not exceptional at anything though.

His striking, is crap. The one time he fought someone that  he only had a 5 inch reach advantage he got smashed. He has to blind of his opponents with eye gouges to avoid getting KTFO

Wrestling, he got thrown for five by a dutch kickboxer.

BJJ, Vitor damn near took his arm off because he sucks.

Jimmies- they're made of glass. He's always rustled.

Would love to see this fight; would be the 3rd ever genuine super-fight (assuming Diaz v Anderson actually happens).

However, I think they've both got quite a few fights before it happens. JJ v DC, Gus, Rumble and Weidman v Belfort, Jacare, Moose.  I can't see the UFC being willing to hold up two divisions when there are a lot of good match-ups so i reckon it would be 2016 at the earliest.

That said, if it did happen I can only see one winner; Jon Jones.  Weidman has been making fighters look poor partly because of his relentless forward pressing and of course strong wrestling.  Suspect it will be hard to keep pressing forwards when you have Jones' jab in your face and fingers in your eye.  That leaves Jones open to utilise superior reach and kicks/knee chops from the outside, setting up a UD win.

Would be an epic fight and potential for forum rustleation at a level not seen since Diaz v Condit.  Let's hope it happens

<sigh> no one's.  I just remember someone creating a thread of all the people who were rustled (and why) after that fight (or maybe it was Diaz v GSP). Very amusing.

I've just been a long time lurker.  Since the days of Arcane Knight, if that helps put a time on it.  UFC news can be a bit slow, so reading forum banter has supplemented the lack of news for me.  Figured as things were a bit quiet that i would join the fun.

Me too! You're saying Identity v Bubba Sparks wouldn't be a superfight??

They're both title holders

They're both undefeated

If they defend the belt 2-3 more times they'll have virtually cleared out their divisions

I agree that Anderson v GSP at their peak was arguably more super, but any x-div. champ v champ is a super-fight in my book
