On August 11, 2014, at approximately 11:55 a.m, Marin County Communications received a 9-1-1 telephone call reporting a male adult had been located unconscious and not breathing inside his residence in unincorporated Tiburon, CA. The Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Tiburon Fire Department and Southern Marin Fire Protection District were dispatched to the incident with emergency personnel arriving on scene at 12:00 pm. The male subject, pronounced deceased at 12:02 pm has been identified as Robin McLaurin Williams, a 63-year-old resident of unincorporated Tiburon, CA.

An investigation into the cause, manner, and circumstances of the death is currently underway by the Investigations and Coroner Division s of the Sheriff’s Office. Preliminary information developed during the investigation indicates Mr. Williams was last seen alive at his residence, where he resides with his wife, at approximately 10:00 pm on August 10, 2014. Mr. Williams was located this morning shortly before the 9-1-1 call was placed to Marin County Communications. At this time, the Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made. A forensic examination is currently scheduled for August 12, 2014 with subsequent toxicology testing to be conducted.

I despise the UFC for spreading the cards so thin and having events so often. THe hype and anticipation for some of these fights could be unbelievable. Instead we have sub par events creeping up on me 6 times a month to the point i don't even know who's fighting when anymore. Instead we have a system where its damn near impossible to create big stars of the sport. They just don't give enough time to stop and get invested in these fighters.

If im watching the NFL i don't want to see CFL level teams along side them. I want the premier of football and i won't get that with the CFL. Yet the UFC has decided to do the equivalent of this.

Bit short sided CB. Yes it's the ultimate selfish act but is it also not selfish to deprive somebody from peace. He's not a hormonal teenager. He was a man suffering from a lifetime of pain and suffering and was only going to get worse as he aged. Obviously I'd like to enjoy life longer than he did but what's wrong with choosing when and how instead of dying a slow painful death. He probably accomplished everything he wanted in life and I lose no respect for somebody in his situation.

Have seen a lot of people on fb posting stuff about depression and the need to raise awareness - hopefully that will be the good that comes from this tragedy. Far too many people think you can get over depression if you just "cheer up"....a bit like suggesting you run it off to someone with a broken leg.

No respect for suicide, ever.

This sums it up for me.

I absolutely feel for anyone who sees no other way out. I've fallen victim to the circular thinking that severe depression brings and have sought out all manner of indirectly shortening my life. It might take hours/days/weeks/months/years but I always find my way out. Perhaps it's my belief that dead is final and that a "bad" something is still better than the nothing that comes with dying.

That being said - seeing the damage suicide does to the loved ones the deceased has left behind firsthand makes me abhor the act.

An old girlfriend turned friend got involved with a guy who was pretty sick. He was bipolar at a minimum and schizophrenic at a maximum. She got pregnant with her son and I ended up becoming the "safe place" where she would come when he would get crazy. He wouldn't get help and she wouldn't leave. For my own health and safety I had to remove myself from the situation shortly after her son was born.

About 6 months later I heard that he had committed suicide. Knowing what I knew about the situation I could only feel relief that it wasn't suicide with a double murder.

I reconnected with her some months later and ended up falling into a relationship with her out of some weird feeling of obligation. She told me the whole story of the days and hours leadin up to his death which still haunts me 6 years later. She blamed herself, completely. An argument proceeded his death and although he left and killed himself elsewhere she really felt as if she pulled the trigger. All of the insanity and abuse she endured in the relationship was transmutated into some strange canonization where he was this great guy that never did anything wrong. It completely warped her and her relationships as well as his family and friends.

Two years ago I ended up working with a guy that was his best friend though we didn't know each other. He had the same weird outlook on it, going as far as to tattoo his initials on his arm and blame all manner of his personal problems on the loss of his friend. I never told him who I was or let on that I knew anything. It was pointless. There was no way he was going to see it any other way.

Suicide is a fully selfish act that has reprocussions the deceased has no regard for.

I mean it's one thing to be down about things and i can understand it more for say fighting physical ailments that greatly reduce your quality of life to enjoy the simple pleasures that would be rough. Like for instance battling cancer or being paralyzed, brain damage etc. etc. that i can understand more but this i don't feel good about myself therefore i'll end it i really don't get that.
