By the scoring criteria used last night, how many fights should have been called the other way? Condit beat Hendricks and RDA beat Khabib, Lawler beat Hendricks, and Pettis beat Guida like it or not.
It is wrong. Why? Because anyone can get taken down and throw baby punches off their back. You wanna win? Get up off your back or don't get taken down. If Ferguson would have been successful in this fight, he would have kept it standing and used his striking advantage, not have his guard passed 3 times while failing sub attempts and getting controlled.
Like it or not, Wrestling is a fighting style and Danny's wrestling beat Ferguson's striking. Not to mention the striking wasn't exactly lopsided either with Danny landed the same sig strikes and double the head strikes. I don't think tony even landed a single punch on danny in the standup.
Barboza beat Castillo for two of three rounds. That is how a striker beats a wrestler. You stuff 10 of 11 TD attempts and make the stand up look lopsided as ****. Danny didn't even land a punch after the first round much less a TD.
At the end of the day, Danny executed his wrestling and his gameplan. What did Ferguson do? Get controlled and make the most of it by being active. Should Danny have done more damage? Absolutely, but he still one regardless because his Wrestling + striking >Tony's Striking.
