LOL

Just spent 5 hours doing 25 Chemistry problems due before midnight.  When I was done I realized I had a math assignment also due at midnight.  I'm grinding my teeth because I'm ready to stop studying.  Then the homework took a total of 5 minutes, lol.

While on the topic of woodpeckers, does anyone know how to humanely or inhumanly get rid of them? F*ckers do lots of damage and won’t leave...

Have you tried asking them nicely?

Haha... no. Actually I think everything but that! Thanks for the suggestion. I will try.

Any ‘better’ suggestions? I know they aren’t going to listen to a polite request.

If that’s the same as shooting them with B.B.s ive tried

You could dress like a bird, climb a tree and start banging your face in to it as fast as you can.  They'll be intimidated and will find a new place to live.

But seriously, have you considered putting some suet up in a tree away from the house?  That's what my grandpa always did.

I am currently allowing my dad and his wife to buy me off.

They're trying to make up for the cluster**** from this past weekend and want to buy me a laptop.  I've been planning on getting one all year and had been shopping ones in the $1000-$1200 range.

So my dad's wife has been insistent that she wants to get me a laptop for Christmas.  I keep telling her that I've got money set aside so they don't have to buy me the whole thing, but she keeps wanting to pay for it.  So I told her about this $1200 Asus that was my top contender and she started sending me links to Lenovo laptops that cost $2100.

So I gave it some thought and decided "**** it" and went and found a laptop that had ALL of the features I wanted that's $1699.  Sounds like they're going to send the money.  I've told her at least 4 times today that they don't have to pay for the whole thing and they really don't have to pay for any of it.  But I'm not going to keep turning down a nice laptop.

Selling your soul to the devil for a laptop, seems legit.

Lol, but seriously, just take it and do your best to stand your ground against the guilt onslaught that is sure to come.

Yeah man.  I might dislike being bought off, but I need a solid laptop that will be able to handle whatever I can throw at it.

They've taken 3 trips to the outer banks this year which is only like 3 hours from my wife and I and they haven't even invited us, lol.

Oh and my stepbro is marrying his partner next April and my dad kicked in $5000 to the wedding.  He contributed $0 to MY wedding and wasn't even going to come because he "didn't think I wanted anyone there".  I mean, wtf?

Good on you. I probably would have been cold and told them to get lost lol. < That's not really mature and doesn't help to mend things and i guess people have odd ways of showing love sometimes.

Also congrats in continuing to piss excellence kicking butt with your studies.

My stepson goes to a very expensive college. It was his choice and we told him that we would pay $x per year, which would have paid 100% of his graduation from a normal state school. He chose to go to the upper eschelon and deal with the debt later. We thought outside the box and asked his dad To apply for the federal aid. he likely would have got 100% paid through grant money if he would have done this. We don’t qualify for a penny of aid. When we approached his dad with this, he said he wasn’t comfortable with doing it. We moved on. We ask him every year what he is going to contribute. He offered to pay the $6 cable bill. At least your dad is trying to support in some way... we have a total beet...

Applying for aid is such horse****.  That's part of the reason I didn't even ATTEMPT to really try school until I was 27.  My parents weren't going to contribute anything and my dad makes a bunch of money so I'd have to claim his income and wouldn't qualify for ****.  26 is too old to still have to claim parent's income.  It's a racket.

no dude dont get that laptop. major ripoff.  aside from being a prebuilt and able to carry it around with you to the next power outlet, and having a touch screen and a fingerprint sensor, all your money is going towards the thunderbolt port, a touchscreen and a bigger ssd

thats a chit gpu. chit cooling.  weak monitor.  not even a 2nd hard drive for more storage. $1700 are you f*cking crazy?  i wouldnt pay a grand canadian for that.  complete overpriced chit

its got a good cpu for a laptop i guess and a supersized ssd. thats about it. youd be an idiot to buy that.for $1700.  if youre spending that much expect at least a mobile i7 7700, a  gtx1070, 16 gb of ram,  256 gb ssd + 1 gb 7200 rpm hd,  and at least a 15 inch 1080p screen either with 120hz or with gysnc. maybe even an optical drive too if thats your thing   asus and msi make good ones but dont waste your money on that zenbook notebook crap. you wont even need a cpu that good if youre trying to game or do any video editing or converting with that or anything demanding at all bro. youre going to be gimped hard by that 1050 before you could even start to make use of the extra power.  that would be good for watching cat videos on youtube and watching movies but so would any other $500 pc.

like seriously thats a massive premium for a touchscreen, 256 gb of extra ssd space at the expense of a secondary hard drive, and most of all the thunderbolt port which youll only ever need when you realise your gpu is chit  but you realise its more expensive for a new laptop rather than buying a second power supply, a real video card which will run a fraction of its speed, and a special housing case for the gpu.  before you even consider cracking open the back of the laptop and putting in another hard drive after you run out of space, or trying to run an external gpu that will run a modern game in high - ultra settings at 1080p and not have it turn into a slideshow. on top of overpaying for form factor, youre paying well over another $500 more for a huge price markup and alll those gimmicky features youll never really use  absolute ripoff dude

Had some dramas at work today, but ended up with a good result.

Made a key for a dudes car the other day, and long story short his key was ****, and I attempted to make one he could keep for a bit longer. Got the key to work then ten minutes later guy comes back because after testing it his both his original and the new copy were no longer working.

Basically the lock was so old it collapsed, and the guy was stuck. Had to call a locksmith and **** around for several hours but eventually got it sorted.

Anyway the guy was so happy with how i conducted myself he bought me a bottle of Finlandia, so having a nice nip after work and relaxing now.

Financial aid and the process of sinking kids with mid-range house payments before they are given an opportunity to earn has to be one of the biggest rackets in Murica.  All these colleges and institutions have vice presidents of useless sh*t out the @ss, who make hundreds of thousands of dollars and the kids get murdered upon graduation with their incurred debt.  A co-worker has a daughter who is 35 and attended the same school as my kid.  She graduated at 22 and still owes over $30K in loans.  F*CKING Appalling.

My parents saved money for me to go to school but I had to go before I turned 20, which I didn't so they just pocketed their halves and then something happened where my dad sent my mom his half.

Since my mom can tell I'm serious and knows the grades I'm getting she said she'll help pay off my loans once I graduate, which is a massive relief.  When my wife goes back, I'll hopefully be making enough money that she won't have to work and we won't have to borrow.

Why are you randomly mean to people for no reason at all

Because when you get really old, nobody really cares you exist, and that makes you permanently angry.

Have a feeling I got brutalized on my chemistry exam today.  The whole unit was very difficult, I had a much harder time preparing for it than the previous 3.  Was the first test I've taken at the college level where I left questions blank.  Luckily my exam average was 106.3 going in to it and he gives us the opportunity for 17 bonus points.  I've got 5 locked up already, just waiting for him to post the others.

Guarantee you a big chunk of the class failed the **** out of that test.  I'm so glad I don't have to go on to CHM 152.

Haven’t we heard before your doubts only to fnd out you killed it? But this time you say you left some blank. You also think a big chunk failed it. If so, let’s hope he grades on a curve.

I had a statistics course (not my thing) where the prof made it so hard on everybody we all walked out of there thinking we all failed the class. Found out he graded on a curve...eventually made an A in the course but I don’t know **** about statistics. And don’t care to.
