My official car thread

If coyotes are running low 11's with bolt ons only they are a crazy good bit of gear. RIP the 20+ year old LS design!

2015 FBO and a tire (450-470rwhp) was running 11.3-ish around 122-ish mph in Florida...put that car in good DA and it could maybe be better.

hahahahaha wow how embarrassing.

For some reason the nitrous solenoid didn't come on until 5k rpm in 2nd... fuel solenoid came on instantly and it ran a super rich 9-1 afr until the spray came on.

That rich mix just robbed the car of power, plus I had timing pulled for the nitrous. It ran like a dog until the nitrous came on and I ran a 12.6 at 121mph LOL. It was competition so I was eliminated with that one and only run.

:(

that's a stout MPH though!

I am quietly optomistic considering I ran a lousy 1/8 mile pass even by my usual na standards and still came back in the back half to get 121mph.

Supposed to get the car back today....I am beyond pumped....my buddy said the car feels even stronger now with the new computer...all of the idle issues are gone as well...can't wait!

Steeda just broke 10's with their 10 speed auto 2018 GT with what appears to be moderate bolt ons. From what I can tell it has:

--headers/x pipe
--4.10s
--CAI
--e85 tune
--suspension work

--Tires

10.96 @ 126.83 mph

man driving my car around again is weird...the car seems super loud and with my back/hip issues only getting worse, it's pretty uncomfortable to drive at the moment...I guess I got so used to the creature comforts of our other vehicle.

Did a couple of hard pulls last night...the first pull sucked bad, car ran like crap, sounded like it was misfiring or something....drove around a little while longer and did another hard pull...ran much better and felt more like I remembered it did....i'm not sure if sitting for 6 months just gunked up the system a bit or what....I might try to replace the fuel filter just in case that's the issue.

With my old foxbody I would regularly foul the plugs just by driving it before it warmed up and it would do that to me, you could tell it was down a cylinder or something and sometimes I could clear it up by really getting on it, but not always

i thought about that but with my plugs being 6 months old, I assumed it had to be something else....might just change both I guess

Mine had a lot to do with the plugs I was running with my AFR 185 heads, they actually were generally used in Subara WRX's.  It happened fairly often unless I really let it warm up

might try to close the gap a bit before changing them out again...i'll just take one step at a time to see if it resolves itself at any step

I always hated it because I never knew which plug needed changing ... was times like that that I wished I had a Honda, lol

fouled plugs seems to be a contagious problem! I think I may have an issue with carbon build up because the nitrous kit was running so damn rich. Took me 2 bottles to get it where I want it. If I switch to e85 that will keep everything nice and clean  :D

Ahhh that reminds me why I kept fouling them .... I was running wayyyyyyyyyyyyy right after I put bigger injectors on it when I did the supercharger install and I never got it turned.

sooooo thinking about putting a ghost cam in my car so it actually sounds like it has engine work when people ask my how it makes 450whp...

scouring youtube for videos of ghost cam tunes and how to do it... can't find ****... but the coyote engine with it's vvt sounds absolutely monstrous compared to an LS. daaaaamn!!

The colder temperatures in South Georgia last Friday were conducive to a 10.71 run at 128.76 mph! Amazingly, Scott Boda, who has been behind the wheel for both the 10.98 and 10.71 runs, thinks there's still more in it. That means, we're going to keep pushing!

What is an IMRC?

What is an IMRC?

Intake Manifold Runner Control...96-98 cobras had em...and once they are stuck closed, you basically have to "delete" them...but when you delete them you lose some hp/tq down low, but a good tune and rear gears help negate the loss (which I have).

ugh they're probably in an inconvenient place as well

gotta remove the entire upper/lower intake manifold, along with alternator, fuel injector wiring harness, fuel rails, and coolant crossover tube...probably some other cables/harnesses too, found some detailed "how to" but I'm gonna sit this one out and just pay for it so it's done right....might try to see if they can be "cleaned" first, but if the actuator is toast, then I'll have to delete them.

some Pre-TX2k street racing....crazy cars

finally getting around to watching this right now, that old school supra has a seriously loud fuel system!

Also... had to look up that IMRC business. Only looked it up briefly but still not quite sure how that works!? They're like throttle bodies or something? Something to do with vacuum?

Hey Enigma,

Why is it whenever 1320 video is in Oz all the cars are racing on some beat up asphalt, blowing the tires off?

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Now I might have to tear down the heads to replace the valve stem seals

If you're going that far you might as well get some heads for it.  Maybe the intake manifold while you're at it.

Or port the heads at a minimum

Heads will really bring that thing to life.  I'm guessing your options are limited though..

only 1 option, C-heads/intake from 01-04 cobra...parts might only be around $800, but the labor sucks a big one

Definitely ....

I could afford to buy a full top end kit for my fox right now but not the labor and all the pissy things I'll need, new MAF, Bigger Injectors, etc

I had NO IDEA it was this involved just to change valve stem seals...idk what I'm going to do...might have to sell the car

Is parting it out an option?

Is it completely down?

oh no, it still runs fine...I could clear up the IMRC issue and no one would probably know the seals needed replacing for a while.

Then I would consider dumping it honestly.  Let someone else deal with the headache.  What do you think you can get for it?  Will you start a new project if you do sell?

I guess it really depends ... probably a huge range, my guess would be somewhere between $6000 and $15000 depending on condition.

svt yo that sucks man, if you can't get a good price I say keep it and slowly get it done up over time. I know several guys who sold their 'fun' car and they all regret it. but of course if it just doesn't make sense financially then you gotta do what you gotta do.. still sad tohear you finally get your car going to only find more problems  :( Maybe coyote swap it  :D

I think 1320 just comes here to collaborate with motiveDVD and cover their annual drag challenge event hosted on that chit runway. That's pretty much the main event here for genuine street driven cars.

sobes you've also just triggered me btw lol

I was thinking about the different car cultures between USA and australia. Most people are more interested in doing burnouts then actual racing. Law enforcement clamps down hard on car enthusiasts here. Basically if you have a modified car you get harassed. So people just buy $500 buckets of crap and shred the tyres off them. That's basically how every track around the place has dedicated burnout pads now, and things like summernats blow up.

yeah I've never seen burnout stuff like that around here.

we've got a super nice 1/8th mile track like 25 minutes from here and a quarter mile maybe 80 minutes from here.  But no burnout stuff, they both have dirt tracks though too

The only reason gtr's are so popular in australia is because they have awd and people can literally just wind up the boost and basically chop anything else out there. LS cars have a bad wrap because they're so cheap, people don't make them fast, just use them for skids and run them in the ground so they're viewed as pieces of chit.

It pisses me off that there is such a glaring hole in the market here and nobody is capitalising on it. I want to be the one to do it. I just need to get the ball rolling damn it. I've already got people talking locally just with a 125 shot and some et street tyres. I have videos coming soon of me hanging right there with 500+ hp cars. Everyone just expects my noisy stock looking car to be a big heap of chit and then they get chopped  :D  :D  B) I'm literally going to be the only one dumb enough to go after the skylines at their own game

Just remember, all the fastest cars are RWD.

There are too many really high HP cars around here.  Every day I see souped up C7 Z06's, Hellcats, etc.  I don't dare try to race anyone with anything other than a beat up Honda.  Even my supercharged fox would get beat most of the time and that sucker was fast.

You need 700+ if you want to hang here.  I hope to get there eventually.

There is at least one R32 Skyline around here.  I've seen it a couple of times, I can never remember the color so I'm not sure if it's the same one or not.

Only place I've ever seen one, it's extra weird because it's somewhat rural out this way
