What would the cost be to build a good foxbody 1/4 mile car...the goal would be mid-low 12 street car.

Depends on what you start with

 

LX Coupe is the best platform but they are expensive.  But with a couple of bolt-ons and some nitrous you can get mid/low 12s (with the right tire).  If you got an okay condition GT you could probably get mid 12s for $6000, car included.  

 

I'm not entirely sure.  You can always find a deal if you don't care about the general condition.  My old notchback I bought for $4000, it already had Heads/Cam/Intake, suspension stuff, aluminum driveshaft, upgraded clutch, etc.  Made 313 rwhp as it sat.  With slicks you could definitely bang mid 12s. IMO

Buying them new? a **** load

low 12s are much tougher on radials, if you were running a Nitto 555r or something you might have a chance

yeah, I'm a ls guy myself so i don't mind... but I got my equivelant of that gross feeling the other day when I saw...

a sacred holden VL turbo that had a ford barra i6 engine in it from a falcon.

The car was a weapon... approaching 1k hp and in a lightweight car... but damn it just felt icky to be around haha

There is a guy a block over that has a garage with a lift at his house, two foxbodies and a SN95 mustang (purple one too lol).  I need to go by there but I never see him home since I got the fox.

So I went to the track tonight, I knew the ambient temperature would drop big time so I set my dial in a little low... ended up cutting a 0.020 reaction time in rd 1, but my dial in was way too low and the other guy beat me by a fender.

 

So I stuck around to see how he went. I watched him and most of the remaining field break out by about a tenth, which is exactly what I expected.

 

If I had just won that 1st razor close race, I have no doubt my times would be on point where everyone else would get DQ'd for going too fast.

 

Long story short, I got eliminated in rd 1 and my sodium levels are off the charts.

still mid/low 12s, haven't got the nitrous hooked up yet. I was in dire need of new tyres before I could spend $$$$ to get the controller + a few other bits.

 

I might mention that in a rolling race I put 1/2 a car on a cammed VE today which makes 440 rwhp. I'd say me weighing 200kg less had something to do with it. On the scales my car reads 1.5 tonnes or 3300lbs.

That's a decent weight. A lot of 80's cars seem to have the perfect balance of newer plastic bumpers and lacking safety equipment, air bags etc so they are a nice light car... well in oz anyway.

Went to queensland raceway this morning too, just for a bit of fun. Should have some sick vids up over the next few days

This is still on the way hopefully. My laptop is a POS and I can't really edit videos without it freezing up. Also, my cameraman was ****ing atrocious so the footage is abysmal. It's coming but don't expect much.

I see that tesla guy is rustling jimmies LOL, the rednecks really can't handle it when a much slower electric barge towels up their rwd race cars on the street..

Yeah, the tesla is probably 2 seconds slower then all the other cars on a track but it puts up a hell of a fight on the street.

I just stayed door to door with a 2013 Camaro SS from a 2nd gear roll through the top of 3rd gear...no idea what was done to it but it was loud so maybe he had some catback exhaust or something.

 

I'm pretty happy about it...I expected to get walked once i hit 3rd.

i'm still pumped from last night...I can't believe my car did so well...I wish I'd have stayed in it through 4th but that would put me well over 100mph on a 45 mph road :o but man I wish I knew if the slowbra would of kept up with him.

 

I also wish i'd have talked with him afterwards to see what all was done to the SS and if it was auto or m6.

 

Gonna have to put the faux-go-pro back in the car from now on lol

There was some dude driving up my **** in his ****ty bone-stock 2005 V6 mustang.  I kept driving on the road past where I needed to turn because I was hoping he was taking the next turn and I could embarrass him.  But of course he kept going and did a ricer flyby.  

 

I would kill myself if I lost to a 210hp piece of ****

You have like a 500 pound weight advantage! I'm sure that helps!  Any idea what you are putting down at the tire (or the crank)?

yeah luckily the fatgen camaro is a pig lol, he was probably 4200lbs with his passenger....I'm like 3650 with me in it.

 

At the MOST i'm putting down 280-290 rwph, which is at MOST 340-ish crank.

 

fatgen probably putting down 426hp crank (in stock form).

yeah if it was an automatic it's probably still slower (it's not like that on the newer ones, the auto is faster or as fast)
