7-stringed guitar? Dang nice m8, what type of music/sound are you going for or just enjoy playing?

I bought a Epiphone SG in 2012, took me a couple years to figure out what type of tone I was going for and low and behold a telecaster came my way

i play a lot of different stuff, but mainly rock with bluesy leads.

There's a really nice Cordoba classical guitar for sale by some older lady who lives 10 minutes away from me.  If I don't lose all my money in Reno and Tahoe, I may just pull the trigger on this deal.  New Cordobas are around $600 or more.  She wants $385.  I think I can get it for $300.

Anyone know some cheapo acoustic guitars that aren't awful to learn on? I'm looking at the Yamaha F310 "starter pack" for about $250AUD but that's already pushing my budget for now. Not even sure if I'll stick with it, I just want to **** around a bit and see what I can learn.

Also I went into a few music stores today and could feel the slimy bastards trying to rape my wallet

Most Yamahas are ok, theyre not the best but def not the worst, for the money its an alright deal.

Im a firm believer of just going into a few shops and having a play of as many guitars possible till you find the right one in your price range, but when youre starting out having a cheap garbage guitar has its advantages.

To begin with being honest most people give up after a few months out of frustration, so if you didnt invest a lot you dont lose a lot.

Secondly when you learn on a **** guitar and stick with it, and you inevitably get better and eventually want to invest in a better guitar and better gear, you'll be able to appreciate how much better it feels and sounds.

im still looking for an RG7621 (MIJ), but ill just keep my eye on the market.  only 1 new one has come up for sale in the last month.... in the whole world.

So I went to GC this past Tuesday and picked up that Gibson SG! Pretty damn sweet I must say!

Really enjoy playing on it. I love my Fender Tele and the clean tone on my Fender easily beats the clean tone on the SG (imo), but can't go wrong with that distortion/crunch tone on the SG. It's a good change considering I've been playing on that tele since 2014

Picked a guitar up today, any bands looking for someone who can play a decent D hit me up

If you can play an A and a C, and then your D...and maybe the C again then we'll talk

so after playing the RG7421 and the RG7621, ive decided that instead of upgrading the 421, im gonna try to find a 7620 in mint stock condition.  the 6 series guitars are made so quality.... and HEAVY like a les paul.  its at least double the weight of the 7421... it makes it seem like a toy.

Took a quick look at a Yamaki acoustic yesterday. They were an entry level Japanese flat top in the late 60s and 70s and I think even into the 80s. They developed a reputation as a fine instrument for the money (under $1,0000 ish) and were made with surprisingly good materials. Have played a few over the years and they are all great players. This one was a 315s which is considered one of the best, probably about 72. I has what they refer to as the fat vertical Yamaki on the headstock. It played great - superb tone - and seemed to have little fret wear. Unfortunately there was a crack in the sound board between the bridge and the butt which took it off my radar. Also when I checked the neck for straightness there seemed to be a slight deflection where the neck meets the body and that put me right off. He wanted $450 for it which might be reasonable - many people think anything under $1,000 is a deal. I would have to take this guitar to a maker to have it gone over and that would probably run be $300 anyway - and potentially a lot more.

I will probably wait for awhile to see if he sells it and put in a low ball offer on it to see if he just wants to get rid of it. Like a lot of guys he thinks this thing is worth twice what it actually is. This would be a perfect guitar to have in alternate tuning for a performance.

I picked this up earlier in the week, nothing fancy, a Yamaha FG720S. Acoustic is totally new to me. I already learned two Elliot Smith songs (also new to me), my friend wants to play out in a couple of months.

Also, I just figured it was a dude that was selling it... but a totally hot lesbian answered the door. I'm 99% certain I was red-faced the whole time I was there.

I've completely stopped studying.  I only jam now - just mainly strumming chords.  Sucks, I was on the verge of taking my skills to the next level.  Life gets in the way.

I had a nice Washburn that I miss so dearly.  I sold it while I was still in the military.  I didn't want to haul it with me when I was getting out.

The girl I jam with has a decent Washburn. She's the one who pushed me to get the Yamaha.

You will still have time to get to the next level, maybe not right now, but in time

I just got one of my guitars back from a friend that I loaned it to. He broke the strap peg and four strings. Almost the entire guitar is covered in a grimy, tar-like substance that I'm guessing is resin from his perpetually unwashed hands. He played my new acoustic for about fifteen minutes, and there is tar/chit on the strings already. What a nasty scumbag.

I've been having a good time jamming out to this tune. Skip to 2:03 where it begins. If you guys like jamming in the blues or maybe want to try your hand at it, I recommend this backing track.

That's mellow bro.

I'm having a lot of fun at the moment de-tuning my guitar to an open D and messing around with new chords. Might get myself a slide so I can go a bit bluesy.

may go to guitar center soon, thinking bout getting this one:

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender/American-Professional-Stratocaster-HSS-Shawbucker-Maple-Fingerboard-Electric-Guitar.gc

Sounds great, just need to play on it first, but I really wanna get a strat. I love my Gibson SG, has a great distortion tone, but clean tone is okay. I want a guitar that has equally great clean tone and distortion tone. That's where the strat comes in

Been a while since I've posted in here, just bought some new equipment so thought this be the perfect time!

Bought this delay pedal few days ago https://www.guitarcenter.com/Boss/DD-3-Digital-Delay-Pedal-1274034492449.gc

Still waiting for it to get shipped to my place, says by end of day Monday. My Fender already has a great reverb on it, I was only missing delay. Can't wait for it to come in! Reverb is my favorite effect, but delay is my number two. Looking forward to using it

Any other pedals, just in general, you guys use? Any good distortion pedals you recommend?

Great video. Steve Vai is one of my favorite guitarists. I've watched a few tutorial videos from him, he's always speaking highly of Frank Zappa, other than Satriani, probably his biggest influence

Looking forward to seeing Generation Axe. Just seeing Steve and Tosin would be worth it.

Just saw this, so my bass setup is a Boss BCB60 pedal board, Boss Bass Overdrive and Super Octave, Digitech Synth Wah Envelope Filter,  Ernie Ball VPJR volume pedal, Arion Stereo Chorus and Metal Master and a cheapo Ashton switch pedal going into a Hartke Hydrive 210c.
