Went to my buddies sports bar Wedensday night to see my friends band play, they play Wed & Sat

and it's ritual w/ me to be there on those nights . He's a total freak, one of the best guitarists I've seen

in southeast Asia . It's a hard rock request band & virtually impossible to stump, .. if they're not

familiar with a requested song, they pull it up yt on a cell, watch it one time & bam .. nailed .

Anyway, I get to the bar and the band is not there wtf, it turns out he was arrested at a gig last

weekend & is in jail . I went to bail him out yesterday & was told it's a non-bailable offense and only

his immediate family has visitation privilege .

Bummer, .. the new Wedensday band was playing KC & the Sunshine whatever which was not

acceptable to my ears at that time . I was in the mood to hear "Whiskey in a Jar" and "Little Guitars" .

.... devastating change of routine imminent -

Bummer dude, sorry to hear that.

I say you put on that strap and take his place. You got this!

He's way outta my league,  he literally sleeps with his guitar so that if he gets new riff/ beat going

in his head, he can tap it out . I could probably fake it until the drunks started requesting Vai, Satriani,

Buckethead, Uli Jon, and Malmsteen -

Btw, the pay-rate for club bands here in Cebu City is 2500 pesos ($55.00/usd) divided by however

many members . My bar-tab on any given night is over 4000 pesos, .. thus life in a 3rd world country -

FIRST PHONE BY AMP-MAKER MARSHALL IS MADE FOR MUSIC JUNKIES

marshalls-STORY-582x436.jpgClick to Open Overlay Gallery MARSHALL

MARSHALL’S FIRST FORAY into the smartphone world won’t have Apple and Samsung sweating their stake in the market. But the guitar-amp company’s first mobile device does come with a few unique features that could show up in future iterations of the iPhone and Galaxy lineup.

The new Marshall London is an Android Lollipop phone custom-fitted for music lovers, with a dedicated processor for high-resolution audio (including uncompressed FLAC files), a pair of headphone jacks built into it, some decent-looking Marshall Mode earbuds, a top-mounted button that quickly fires up the phone’s music UI, a five-band global equalizer, and a scroll wheel for adjusting volume with precision while it’s in your pocket. It also scratches a couple more-conventional smartphone itches, with a user-replaceable 2500mAh battery and a MicroSD storage slot.

While the phone hasn’t officially been announced in the U.S. just yet—there’s a page on Marshall’s Swedish site that lists all the phone’s features and specs—it will be in a few hours according to the site’s countdown clock. There’s no pricing information on the U.S. version of the site for now.

Hardware differentiation and specialization are growing trends in the smartphone universe—we have “luxury” phones from Vertu and Lamborghini, a smartphone with a large image sensor from Panasonic, and Samsung’s wrap-around Edge screen, for example—but any successful hook will likely show up in market-leading phones before long. Dual-headphone jacks and hi-res audio capabilities seem like features that may become mainstream soon.

Mmmm it's a blue one. Haha sorry I have no idea. My mum bought me it when I was young. I had every intention of learning to play it but never did.

I'll dig it out on Sunday and get back to you.

A BRILLIANT, TRULY BRILLIANT GUITARIST!!!! :

^ No pick just fingers on Electric Guitar and getting such a fantastic clean sound - not easy!

Mike Oldfield is so brilliant a composer, producer, & plays many instruments - that sometimes people forget just how good he is on the guitar.

Jason Becker, Malmsteen, and Vai were my idols growing up as far as guitarist goes.

Personally, I liked the play of my two Carvins I had a couple years ago. Had a custom black V and a California carved top which sounded amazing. Even their amps where amazing for the price.

I had to sell them to get through PA school and didn't have the time to put into it anymore. Might get back into it now since I'm practicing PA now.

This chap seems to know his way around a guitar.  I like the fact also that the third comment is from a UFC fan...

...and I know this isn't guitar, but this lady has some serious skills.  For the impatient, skip to the 3.00 mark where she suddenly grows an invisible 3rd hand

...and while I'm de-railing this thread into none guitar-related areas, do you guys play any other instruments?  I play a bit of piano, but used to play the 'cello when I was a kid (got up to pretty high standard).

The reason I gave it up is pretty much summed up by this chap.

Also, 'cellos can be cool if given the chance....

Check out my new (old) guitar -- found it at a yard sale this morning!!  I just started a "garage sale finds" thread and posted this, but I wanted to add it to the guitar thread, too.

rivu4z.jpg

It's a Gibson LG3 probably from the late 1950s or early 1960s.  I am very excited, indeed!

Sweet! That might be worth a nice amount.

My uncle bought some old Gibson ES335 for 500 bucks of some old lady at a yard sale. He took it to be appraised and was offered over 6 grand for the guitar if I remember correctly. He kept the guitar, but went back to offer the old lady more money, but she declined.

I found a sweet 80s Charvel in a local pawn shop a couple of weeks ago. Single humbucker (vintage DiMarzio Super Distortion), Floyd Rose trem, no frills, rock powerhouse. It was in pretty good shape, especially for $249. I don't think they knew what they had. I've seen similar guitars sell for two or three times that price. I'm still kicking myself for not buying it.

Update:  I just found a Factory Order Number on the neckblock.  it was made in 1960. And it has "X" bracing and a spruce top.

And it's fight day.

Been finishing learning the rest of this song on my acoustic. I knew how to play the intro part, but didn't know how to play the pre-chorus part that starts at :43. It's a really cool progression that gets overshadowed by the electric part on the record. **** Jimmy Page has to overdub all his cool acoustic licks with an electric guitar.

Been hooked on this multitrack video. Mainly the first part from 0:00-4:58. It's cool to just hear the acoustic in this song without the electric part, vocals, and bass. (Though the bass line in this song is by far my favorite by John Paul Jones of all the Zep songs).

Top neck Acoustic Classical 7 strings, bottom neck 7 strings (6 Octave range).

That is bottom neck ALONE has 6 Octave range! More frets (by far!) than standard necks.

If you don't know who owns & uses this guitar = you are a total IGNORAMUS!!!! Please hang your head in shame.

2) The picture I posted ^ - you laughably have absolutely no idea who owns & plays that guitar.

That Martin acoustic I want went on sale again. Might go sweep that up this weekend, most likely Sunday. Before it went on sale (which is does often), it was $525. Now it's at $449.  And it's available at my nearest Guitar Center. Think it's about time I get it.

^This one.

Last time I went to Guitar Center, I played on a handful of acoustics that had different price ranges; ones that were far more expensive than this one, but this is the one I liked the best and felt the best in my hands.

Every guitarist knows that feeling--when you play on a bunch of guitars then you just find that right one that feels comfortable in your hands and has the tone you're looking for--this is mine, but for acoustic.

Batio is a JOKE stunt player!  Not a serious musician.  At stunts & trick guitar - playing ultra fast, putting hand on neck up & under, tapping, etc he is entertaining (for a limited time period!) but that is about it.

GO TO 3:30 :

That is Yngwie just playing around but he has real substance & vibrato, etc that blows Batio's out of the water!

Guthrie Govan commented on Yngwie clones & the ultra technical players influenced by him etc saying - they copied the technique & missed the spirit & emotional depth Yngwie has.
