TUF 23 (?)

Recommended Posts

So..who's watching?

I enjoyed seeing the guy who said he spars with Jones and gets the better of him getting spanked.  Funny too to see the French guy who surrendered on TUF11 fighting again. And surrendering again.

Also good to see the plucky British lass getting through after a rocky first round.

Think JJ will spend a lot of the series trolling Gadelha.

Not massively excited for this series, but given both the men's LHW and WSW are thinnish at the moment, the winners could get somewhere fast.

I watched it this morning before work, because the channel it airs on here can't actually put it in a consistent time slot, so it aired super late last night.

I enjoyed the first episode for the most part. I like that they're doing weight classes that haven't been represented before (Strawweight), or are not represented often (Light Heavyweight) on TUF, rather than the standard Lightweight, or Welterweight that it feels like they're doing constantly.

Also, can we give a thumbs up to the guy who finished his fight with the soccer kicks to the body?

Kicked the crap out of him for "butt-grabbing".

Great 'tache as well.

Good stuff so far. Really pleased that they're filling out the 115lb division and especially glad that three British girls made it into the house ( I think Gadelha got two of them but the picks went pretty fast ).

I was suprised by the sequence of picks and feel like a few of the best fighters might've slipped slightly under the radar.

I liked the look of Josh Stansbury ( the guy who injured his knee in a previous season and JJ's first LHW) and think he might be the one to watch.

Yeah, that josh lad is a man on a mission.

I also noticed Claudia seemed a bit creeped out by dfw at times. Lol.

He kisses her on the head when he walks in and then keeps trying to put his arm around her

Yeah, that was totally inappropriate. I think you've hit the nail on the head.

Lol, glad I wasn't the only who noticed.  Guess it's the whole Brazillians don't like to be touched thing.

I was fairly neutral on CG at the start.  Will be interesting to see what she's like; the regular moaning about the first fight is already kinda irritating though.

Was it the WSW fight that the judges got wrong?

Considering her history and the company she is keeping while watching the fight, I can understand her making an issue about it.

I had to rewind it, couldn't tell if it was just an awkward hug or he actually kissed her head LMAO

If my boss walked into work and greeted me with a kiss and an arm around the shoulders I would take exception.

If my boss was a few £££ behind DFW and I lived in America and had video footage I would take that **** to the courts, make BANK and retire.

No, she mentioned it at the start in the whole "we don't like each other" build up.

Although she left the part out about getting dropped and sucka-punching JJ after the bell.

Hmm, maybe I'm not as neutral about CG as I thought i was!

Claudia lost the 1st, there's no argument from me there.

As for the sucker punch though....c'mon mate.

It was a knee jerk reaction from a passionate fighter that clearly recognized her mistake immediately and was sincere in her apology. Forgive her her error.

Sorry mate, that was just a rare piece of trolling from me. As you say, she apologised straight away. I have no issue.

I still think the decision was correct though.

Yeah, you're usually a straight shooter.

Either way, it was a thin decision.

No doubt.  Looking forward to the rematch (although apparently they already had that just after filming had finished!)

how about season 24 is renamed looking for an ultimate fighter.  half dana white goofing aroud with his toothless buddies and half fighters goofing around in the TUF house not cleaning their dishes/eating each others food/getting drunk and starting fights and 0% actual Octagon fights..

I must say that TUF 20 (woman straw weights) was good cause I managed to get my GF into watching UFC/MMA. She likes all the drama in the house and doesn't mind the fights.  Doubt she would watch it when I wasn't there but its something.

You're suggesting 23 series is too many?

You may have a point...

Oh yea.. 23 damn last one I watched was 10... caught some of Sonnen Jones because he's my boy but damn they need to knock it off

Is it just me or is the standard of fighter very low this year? So far I have seen technically poor women though a few showed heart, 2 black wrestlers who had absolutely no striking awareness whatsoever and 2 guys who beat them and proceeded to think themselves monsters for doing so

The thing that struck me most about the 115ers was how slow their striking is. I enjoy that weight for the rapid fire striking exchanges but sadly they were nowhere to be seen. I'm expecting huge gains during the season as the coaches are probably the number 1&2 quickest in the division.

Both jj and Claudia's trash talk is painful to watch. Hoping one of the fellas gives them both a slap.

Hespect to the two lads who went at it this week. Fun fight.

Fully expected Hendricks (CG's team) to lose that fight, very happy to have been wrong. Rowntree did himself proud in the respect and humility he showed in defeat. Great sportsmanship from both fighters leading up to and following a great opening fight .

The banter between JJ and CG was weak and made me cringe. JJ does come off as a bully though, as the baddie to CG's goodie.

I think JJ is having absolutely zero effect on Claudia's confidence and if anything is making CG look like the mentally stronger of the two.

Loving the show so far this season.

Just got first Ep watched. Surprised no one mentioned the main talking point.... The guy in black shorts who's nipples are below his pecs ????????

Nah but seriously some good fights (standard) expect the fights to be relatively boring/average from now on.

The fights have been good so far. Some of the chicks are hot so sign them up Dana.

The skill level of the men seems pretty poor. Could be wrong.

It seems really awkward having the two main stars of the season throw really bad English insults at each other.

This is already a contender for worst ever series of TUF.

I miss Conor and Faber giggling at each other's jokes and generally taking the ****.  The JJ/CG trash-talking is feeble and the fights have been mundane.

I have never enjoyed the reality tv aspect of the series but as far as the fights are concerned, your comment makes me wonder if we've been watching the same season

i enjoyed the fights to get into the house, last weeks fight was good as well

last nights fight wasn't that great but i'ma chalk that up to lol wmma

We barely saw any of CG/JJ in this weeks episode. The light relief was more about the doughnut eating contest which I thought was quite funny in a lame sort of way.

What I took from this weeks fight was that I reckon Claudia was spot on with her first pick, Tatiana showed some decent grappling skills once she got past the opening minute. She'll be tough to beat.

Next weeks fight should be good. That dude Sachez off CG's team (him with the eyelids that won't quit) impressed me in his entrance fight (though I can't even remember the fight) and JJ's guy looks ready to bang.

I'm enjoying the season.

Disappointed that this weeks fight wasn't remotely competetive, some good GNP though.

Looking forward to seeing that whining idiot Helen get smashed next week. It shames me that she is from England.

That guy looks like he got caught by his wife smashing another birds back doors in. Unlucky mate!

Isn't he the muslim dude that refused to share the ladies bedroom? I thought so but couldn't be sure.

Exactly what I was thinking haha! Fight this week was terrible, guy just held him in a body triangle for two rounds and done very little. Yet to see an impressive fight really this season, a lot of the fighters look like they do not have any idea on the ground.

Yeah, the scrandy that won this week is a touch-butt can who might be able to do a dollar store Maia impression on other TUF scrubs but will get melted by a real fighter.
