ACR has really changed recently. I didn't play for a few weeks, and now half of the "guaranteed money" tournaments are gone. They added on demand sit n go's for $5, $10, $20, $30, $50, and $100.

They've been getting DDoS'd constantly too.  My twitter feed always has notices from them where they're having to cancel tournaments because everything keeps crashing.

Sucks, I still have $100 on there or so

Played a SNG yesterday and took 2nd.  I was catching cards like a madman.  Aces twice, set of 8s, coinflips holding.

Then I get heads up with a 2.5:1 chip lead and the guy flops a set of 5s and slow plays it while I'm firing with a straight draw and a turned flush draw.  I bang high pair on the river and he check raises me.  I couldn't recover.

Might take a few more shots today, have more money on there than I thought

Saw a headline reading Daniel and Ivey +5,000 betting odds to win WSOP Main Event. Figured I missed something and they moved the Main Event up and they were in the final 50 players. Nope, those are literally the odds they're putting them at to win the WSOP. 50/1. 5,000+ players in the field. Do they put them at 5,000/1? Even 500/1? No. Fecking 50/1 odds. Feck Vegas.

I can't believe he's still alive.  The guy is severely overweight, you don't see fat people get that old.

Hopefully he enjoys retirement and doesn't drop dead like lots of really old people do shortly after they retire :/

Blinds: 75/150, no ante, I'm the small blind. I have 8900 chips (starting stacks were 10,000), my opponent in this hand has around 12,000.

I'm dealt pocket kings. It's only 3 hours into the tournament. and I've been card dead so far, so my image is of a tight player. My opponent, who seems to be very aggressive, in middle position, raises to 375. I want to raise to get a feel for what he has, but I don't want to make him fold, so I min raise to 750. He calls.

Flop is Qd- 10h- 8d. I bet 900, a little over half the pot. He thinks about it for a couple of minutes, then raises to 3000. So, I'm thinking A-Q, K-Q, A-X diamonds, etc. Possible set? 2 pair? If he had a pocket pair, Q, 10, 8, would he 4 bet pre flop?

So, what would you do in this position?

I can't see him 4-betting Q's 10's or 8's that early in a tournament unless he was an idiot, which is possible.  At this point I'm thinking he got lucky as **** with J-9, either that or he has something like A-10 of diamonds or something.  He was probably just making a standard raise pre and your tiny min-raise priced him in with light holdings.

Knowing me, I would get irritated and shove and lose.

Damn, you're good! J-9 of hearts, I shoved, and was knocked out of the **** tournament in 3 hours! ($1000 double stack) I was still on tilt from the previous day. $250 daily deep stack, I was dealt pocket aces, A-10-7 flop, we get it all in, he has pocket 7's, and rivers his one outer! That has to be the worst I ever felt at a poker table.

Trust me, I get the feeling.  I'm sure I would have put the guy on a hand like that but still would have overshoved and rage quit.

A one-outer is sick.  I've told the story in this thread before but that reminds me of this $1/$2 game I played at the Borgata.  There was some dude sitting there with about $1100, impatiently waiting for a seat at a two five table to open.  One finally opens and he racks his chips but the dealer has dealt him in so he peeks at his cards.

He raises.  Get's reraised late.  He raises again.  Other guy has him covered and makes it $300.  So he shoves and gets snap called.  Aces vs Kings.  $2200 pot.  The guy who had racked his chips had woken up with the aces.

Flop A-9-9.  Dude with the kings is hating life.  Table is groaning.  Turn comes down a King.  Table gets quiet, I make some offhanded comment to the guy with the kings that he was halfway there.  The commotion catches the attention of the floor and a couple of other tables.  Guy with the aces has this twinge of doubt written across his face.

The dealer over dramatically builds the suspense and then bangs out that fourth King.  Everyone yells "ohhhhhh!!!!!!", the players, the floor, the dealer.

Aces guy is totally stacked, leaves his empty racks on the table and walks immediately out of the poker room.  It was great, he had been a smug prick for hours.

That's probably the sickest beat I've seem live.

One more situation I encountered:

15,000 starting chips, I have around 14,000. UTG +1, pocket 8's. Blinds 200-400. I raise to $1,000. Late position, aggressive player, has me covered, 3 bets to $2200. Button, I would call him a weak player, short stack, shoves for around $7500. Comes back to me, if this was online, I shove 100% of the time, but what would you guys do?

I would insta-muck.

I'm going to assume the other players involved have a good sense of the game:

The reason I would is because if I were to flat call his all in it's going to price the aggressive player in.  I think there's a chance an overshove would work, maybe get head's up vs AQ or AK and just hope for the best.  But considering the wild guy reraised your early position raise he might have a monster.

I also don't understand why the button would shove in 18 big blinds with air given the action before him.  If it had folded to him that shove might have made sense.

I'm going to put the aggressive player on a middle-to-high pair, 10-10, 9-9 maybe even jacks.  His raise seems small enough that it makes me think he was just probing for information so he could decide how strong his beatable pair was.  A small raise like that gives him plenty of room to fold if you three bet.

For the weak player I'm going to put him on a monster, queens, kings, aces, ace king.

Thanks for the compliment, but I just have the feeling that not playing enough live poker has really hurt my game. Anyway, I was more worried about the player that had me covered than the shove, so I folded. The action was on the guy who worried me, he tanked for a couple of minutes, then called............with pocket 7's! The other guy had A-K suited, and the 7's held up. Like I said, I thought the all in was a weak player, his table image was someone with very little live experience.

ahhh, I forgot this was live.

I like playing live tournaments far more than online.  I'm just not as good on picking up on player abilities online.

Scott Blumstein and Qui Nguyen already knocked out.

Defending Champion Blumstein Eliminated on Feature Table

b931877f956.jpg

The ESPN feature tables kicked off at the start of Level 3 and among those to take a seat in the main spotlight were Jean Montury, Lacey Jones, defending champion Scott Blumstein, and Brian Yoon. The latter two tangled in a big pot that left the defending champion devastated, as he was sent to the rail early on.

Blumstein raised to 800 and Yoon three-bet to 3,700 in late position, which Blumstein called. On the 6D 4S 4C flop, Blumstein check-called a bet of 3,000 and did so again on the 3S turn for 10,000. The 2S  appeared on the river and Blumstein checked with 27,350 behind. Yoon moved all in and Blumstein called it off with the 10C 10D  only for Yoon to turn over As JS for the back door nut flush.

It's probably because the defending champs get freerolls into the next year's Main Event.

That board seems like a stupid goddamn spot to call off your whole stack with an overpair

He went on massive tilt and entered some $600 buy in day tournament and scooped it for $10k

My dream is to score a decent payout at the world series, and take that money to play the main event. The $250 daily deepstacks pay $30 thousand plus for first place, but I think they chop it, since the tournament can last all night. The thousand dollar buy in I played had a first place payout of over $640 thousand.

Was the prize pool literally 5 million or click bait title? Not sure how Shulman plays and I imagine Daniel was pretty much priced in there but Daniel deserved that. Guy bets big pre flop and flop and insta raises all in, you have to know QJ is no good there. lol at Shulman's zero fooks given on every street.

people going in way tew hard on Phil for his "influencing play" the other day. The guy was looking to hit a king high flush. I don't think Phil being in or out affects his decision as much as people are claiming. If anything, Phil being out would influence my decision to fold there cause I could triple up if I hit my flush. I get it was chitty by Phil especially not knowing the hands but people are acting like Phil single handedly got the guy out of the tournament. Even posted this the other day and people are still chitting on him for it saying it's just for publicity at this point. smh

how the hell long did they play?  I stayed up watching, but when it hit 3AM my time and it didn't seem like they were going to be done anytime soon I went to bed.

Ended around 5:00 pacific time. Around 3:30 they both looked like zombies, no table chat, no chip shuffling, just heads down and moving slow. Tony Miles complained in the post tournament TV interview.

DAMN

Fedor Holz could jump past D-Negs on the all time money list if he can take down 5 more players and win the Big One for One Drop.  Only 27 players this year though.  I'm surprised it doesn't get more entries from the ultra-rich.

Fluke. D-Negs will finish his career ahead of Holz. The last time a Fedor tried to step to a Daniel

Looks like Joe Cada won a bracelet in event 75.  What a sick run.

Both bracelets this summer and the final table in the main, all no limit hold em. He's gotta be up there in career earnings and top hold em players of all time and dude's only 30.

I'd have to punch Dan Shak in the face and tell him to shut his bltch up.  I've had irritating women at games before like this.  I can't imagine anything worse than getting coolered with KK vs AA against one.

I think the hand that decided the final table line up a few days ago was something similar. It's a weird thing. Link says "worst call ever" but you just dont want to believe your lucks that bad when you have kings that somebody would have better, and if youre right, you just folded kings and a chance to knock out Helmuth.
