Im like you Juice, wasnt the biggest fan of IIV, but that said, I kinda understand why they went with another death star, and it was so they didnt have to spend much time on the story, and could get a whole lot of character introductions over and done with to be able to kick on with the next movies plot wise.

I asked alot of people what they got from TFA, and it seems I saw something different for the rest of the series than everyone else. Kylo Ren was a delta for a reason, Rey shows glimpses of Anakin esque prowess... my money is on Rey as a child mowing down the students of Lukes academy. Makes the look Luke gave her more ominous, and why Im looking forward now the formalities are out of the way. I think a flip of the script is coming.

I hope so, I want them to be amazing. I love the originals and liked the newer movies more than most people I know.

I used to but those reclining seats that they have now are pretty amazing.

smoking a J and getting a BJ while watching a movie is pretty amazing too I can tell

best part is pressing pause and going to the restroom or getting a drink whenever I want to

Agreed, I watch way more movies at home than in theaters. The last movie I went to in theater was Fury or American Sniper I think.

Strange enough your RE the only one I know that has gave it a good review so far. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing as I normally like movies that other people don't.

Was good. They McRedacted like every scene that was in the trailers tho. Literally none of that ish was in the movie. They could have redacted half the movie tho and it would still be better than TFA.

Im about to go see it.... anyone with advice on choosing between the 2d and 3d?

3d sucks. Its all fun and games until like half way through the movie when you get sick of it and take the glasses off. Then the movie is blurry.

Go 2d.

Saw it today.

I liked it.

Anyone who is a fan will catch a lot of characters and nuances from the original series.

Some people **** on the client of two characters. The one at the end is a given but I didn't mind the other one else. I won't ruin the surprise for those who haven't seen it and do the know who makes an appearance and no, it's not Vader.

Good show all in all in the typical star wars series

You can keep the glasses on and just close one eye, then it shows like a normal movie.

But I'm not a fan of 3D at all

I didn't care for it much. Wasn't awful but could have been SO much better. I really didn't connect with or care about any of the characters except somewhat Donnie Yen and they never went into his back story. Using cgi instead of an actual human actor is some of the stupidest **** I've ever seen in my life and was insanely distracting. I seriously didn't even hear what those characters said in any of their lines cuz I was so annoyed by what I was seeing. Also starting a Star Wars movie without the "STAR WARS" logo or narrative crawl is utter bull ****. And the music sucked. There's only one John Williams, but there are other good composers for movies. Whoever the **** did this movie should be **** canned from all future jobs.

ETA: the battle scenes were pretty sweet, I gotta give it that

actually nvm, it got taken down between when I watched it and when I posted it

Have been looking for that. That scene is the only time I've lost all basic bodily motor functions in a theater before. I can't even recall the noise I made or if it resembled anything remotely lingual.... something like oooowwwoohhmerggggaahhhd! That's all I got to say really.

My brothers and I have been putting together this gift for my parent's and just got done watching Episode IV.

Badass.

Gonna watch episode VI later cause we just watched V last week.

Star Wars marathon has begun.

Episode IV is badass. I know V gets all the hype and GOAT accolades, but if somebody told me IV was their favorite, I wouldn't argue it.

You get a heavy dose of Vader in Episode IV. Fooking doooope

I've been watching a bunch of Rogue One reviews on Youtube and came across Kevin Smith's. I didn't watch this whole thing, I skimmed through it and really just wanted him to talk about the badass scene.

It's around 1:22:30 where they dive into it and talk about it for around 8 minutes. Worth watching. Lot of spoilers in this video, so don't watch it if you haven't seen it yet. I think it's better to watch this review after you've seen the movie anyways.

here's the video. I think you should watch it. (Just the part I suggested though). Unless you wanna watch Kevin Smith and random black guy talk for an hour and a half, then by all means.

look, it wasnt perfect, but I did enjoy it. My only gripe was they wasted Donnie Yen on a one off movie. They should have used him in a recurring role, he is always bad ****.

I'd like to say my family haven't had to take a trip to A&E for RUF's wolf ticket poisoning.  I enjoyed it and thought it was a good film .  Not amazing but good.  Glad   I didn't watch any trailers so went in completely oblivious to what was gonna happen in the film.

please tell me that ending scene with Vader gave you guys a bonnar? Was that not the best Star Wars moment of all time? It resurrected Vader as the badass he is. Not to say he's not a badass in the original series, which he is, but we don't see him do that type of ruthless slaughtering like he did in Rogue one

I ended up watching a lot of it and although I didn't fanboy over TFA as much as Kevin Smith did, I agree with a lot of what he said. RO was everything I wanted in a Star Wars movie and a lot I didn't know I wanted. It gave so much more scale to the SW universe than TFA did. It was darker, funnier, more realistic yet more imaginitive than TFA ever was and we got to see Vader diggle some rebel scum. Everything you'd want in a SW movie.

I agree. However, I think it's unfair to compare Rogue One to any of the saga movies, especially TFA, which it's been getting compared to since they're released within a year of each other.

I say this because, TFA needed to set up the foundation for the new trilogy and essentially set the tone for VIII and IX. Rogue One, as a standalone film, doesn't need to do that. It doesn't need character development at all considering we know what's gonna happen to the characters because we know they're not in the original trilogy movies.

TFA did a great job at leaving cliff hangers to multiple questions that will be answered in the next two movies i.e. who the fook is Rey? Who is Snoke? What has Luke been doing/what will he do when confronted by Rey who has Anakin's lightsaber? When will Knights of Ren come into play? Will we see Rey's force vision come to fruition? What's gonna happen with Finn? Will Captain Phasma have a bigger role? How did Maz Kanata get that lightsabre? (" a good question for another time").

We could debate these questions here all day. That's the beauty of TFA, imo. It really set the basis for the next two movies. Rogue One didn't need to do any of that so it had the freedom of focusing on an all-out war film and was very successful in those regards as well as connecting it the original series and the continuity connection at the end of Rogue One was flawless.

TL:DR version...Rogue One was standalone film that had more freedom than the saga films. TFA is still good and should taken as foundation movie that set the tone for VIII and IX that I'm sure are gonna have more battle scenes and we're gonna see more lightsaber action. Considering Disney was down to make Rogue One dark and gritty, I'm hoping they do that with Episodes VII and IX.

See I think that only makes a better case for Rogue One. It didn't need to invest so much in to character development but it did anyways and it did much more successfully than TFA imo which is pretty impressive.

Absolutely. It was a great film. . I'm fine with people saying it's better than TFA, which imo it is, just from the end scene alone. It was just straight war, so obviously it's gonna be better than TFA, but then again, :insert previous post here:

I think when more Star Wars Stories movies come out in the coming years, it's more fair to compare Rogue One to those movies. We don't have that luxury yet, but in the future hopefully we do.

We can definitely say that Rogue One has set the bar high. Real fooking high. I don't even care about that Han Solo movie anymore. Didn't really care for it when they announced it, but one thing is for sure... Everybody is wondering if we're gonna see a Vader in the new Han Solo movie, which would be a Vader at the prime of his evil, ruthless self who is just dismantling all the Jedis who are alive.

At this point, just due to sheer fandom, Star Wars Nergasims, they're gonna have to put Vader in it. Do what they did with Rogue One...use him sparingly, make his scenes intense, and show very little of him in the previews.

Han had never heard of the force in episode iv so having Vader in that movie would make no sense.

What I want is a darth vader film. Show him hunting down the stray jedi getting about... these jedi having abandoned the teachings of the council could be more prone to abuse their power and portray Vader as more of an anti hero, an imperial enforcer called in to deal with these jedi scum.

^I like that idea

That would be dope. Do you think having Vader in his own standalone film would be too much Vader? Do you think the idiom of having too much of a good thing comes into play here?

Not saying it wouldn't be cool, probably would be. But I feel like using Vader sparingly and having less screen time, but more impactful during those times is a little better.

What do you think?

**** it though. As long as James Earl Jones and Ian are alive to still portray Vader and Palpatine then I suppose the possibilities are endless

Yeah you're probably right. Just have a movie about jedi constantly being hunted down by the empire and have badass vader horror scenes and lightsaber duels sprinkled throughout.
