  1. 1. Thoughts on the Episode 8 title "The Last Jedi"?

I saw it today and that scene gave me goosebumps and had me smiling through the whole scene

Is p4p my favorite scene of all Star Wars movies. It was fooking badass.

I don't wanna spoil it but when others ser the movie they'll know what we're talking about.

Will watch it again just to see that scene

Loved the movie too. Good stuff

If I remember correctly, there was a scene in Episode III which could have really been exploited to set the stage for this one (of course not knowing at the time that a RO would be developed). It's one of those cases where the PG rating was important to Lucas...obviously for the merchandise aspect. But if these movies had been made with adults in mind...both those scenes would be absolute badass.

Just saw RO for the second time. This movie is fucxin A! Missed so much the first time around. Well worth my time.

I wrote a post in the SYM thread that was identical to this! I was going to multiquote it then realized if wasn't in this thread.

I had the same experience the second time around. Going into the movie the second time, I was really looking forward to watching the ending. I ended up appreciating the movie as a whole a lot more considering the little things I missed the first time around.

I still really enjoyed that badass ending, but nothing will beat the first time I saw that scene. I'm glad Disney allowed them to make this movie gritty, grim, and flexible.

John Boyega (Finn) stated Episode VIII will be a lot darker. Maybe Rogue One is acting as a precedent and is setting the stage for the future Star Wars movies. I'm thinking Episode VIII surpasses expectations and may contain those dark scenes like we saw in Rogue One. Certainly looks like Disney is on board for that

Fooking right.

I hope Episode VIII has the same level of dark like Rogue One.

I saw the movie again today. With my siblings, one of which hadn't seen it yet.

Will never get tired of that ending. Never ending nerdgasm

look, it wasnt perfect, but I did enjoy it. My only gripe was they wasted Donnie Yen on a one off movie. They should have used him in a recurring role, he is always bad ****.

Yeah, he was great. All the characters were good, especially the robot K-2SO and Saw and Tom Arya from Slayer - I mean Baze Malbus.

Finally saw it with my oldest friend that I haven't seen in forever. I enjoyed the hell out of it, but I certainly wouldn't call it the best of the franchise. They should have named it "Everyone Dies: A Star Wars Story"

That being said, my only complaint was the lack of Bothans. They were the only thing that didn't get rekt in the whole film. Also, the movie needed more Darth Vader murdering hapless rebels. The scene was the tits, but more would have been appreciated.

Bothans stole the second death star plans you philistine. They'll get diggled in Rogue Two.

If you want to throw down on Star Wars trivia, you better write your will.

At least the movies. I don't watch any of those cartoons or read the EU novels or any of that crap.

It seems I was indeed mistaken, I was under the erroneous assumption that Mon Mothma scene was in Episode 4. Just looked it up and it was in Ep 7 like you said.

Everyone dies and it's amazing. They all go out in their own unique ways...although Baze's death is highly reminiscent of all my Battlefront deaths...

...it's Nyte one-on-one against a newb player, I immediately use my blaster and shoot him down like the marksman I am, but ofcourse this Call-of-Duty-transitioned-Battlefront feg already had a thermal detonator cooking because that's the type of reaction you get when you suck balls and don't know how to aim your blaster...and that's how Baze went out...against a newb..not surprised though, most of the storm-troopers are incompetent anyways...one got melee'd ffs..

Anyways, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie..I've already seen it three times...and that was in the same week (NERD!). Third act of the movie is amazin' and that Vader scene is the cherry on top...my gawd, I'll never get tired of that scene...worth seeing the movie multiple times in theaters just to see him mow down rebels for 60 seconds.

CASUAL. Some of the greatest moments from all your favorite heroes come from the books/comics....can't believe you.

That being said, I've only read one Star Wars comic and that transpired last week...it was Marvel's Vader Down...plan on reading more in the future.

Recommend that comic, too, btw,

Darth Maul will always be my homie, especially with spider legs. I don't care what anyone has to say, Maul is one of the slickest and coolest antagonists of any Star Wars film. He's one of like three people in all of cinema history to kill Liam Neesons!

From the survivor series thread:

If there's one thing Darth Vader is good at...it's advancing...especially through dark corridors if you know what the fook I'm talking about, my **** gawd that scene still gives me an erection

It was approaching 100F today so to get out of the heat I went and saw this again, Tarkin and Vader double teamed the fook out of the rebels lmao... and that Vader scene was the tip of the spear jesus christ.

Luke and co were retarded to resist the empire.

edit: to compare the empire vs the rebels in rogue one and a new hope to a mma fight it would be like having Brock Lesnar beat the chit out of Demetrious Johnson for 5 rounds only for Demetrious to land a hail mary punch with 2 seconds left and get the knockout.

**** yeah man, Tarkin and Vader are two of my favorite characters, Tarkin is an absolute badass. It's no wonder why Vader is like "alright, I'll take orders from you, too...but that's it, everybody else can fook off"

My dad gave me an AMC giftcard so Imma try to persuade my brother to go with me today to see it again (which would be the 4th time, no fooks given). He's been sick as hell lately but he's getting better...which means he'll be good enough to go.

I agree with your MMA analogy, but imma take it a step further in  comparing that last Vader scene...here's my MMA version of what transpired there.

It's as if Brock Lesnar fought Demetrious Johnson, but they tied Demetrious Johnson's arms behind his back and locked the gate from the octagon leaving nowhere to escape..

I enjoyed it even more the second time, would bang again. I liked the characters more the second time, and even knowing how the movie plays out I felt more for them second time around. Also, the 3rd act was an ongoing battle, but as soon as Tarkin and Vader turn up the rebels were Mcgregor/Aldo'd

BTW just to be clear, my mma analogy was for both Rogue One AND A New Hope. The rebel alliance got their chit pushed in constantly all the way up until that one filthy casual farm boy blew up the death star. (edit: literally seconds before both luke and the rebel base would otherwise have been SLAUGHTERED)

That was quality. Fitted perfectly into the universe. Whetted the appetite very nicely for number 8.

Wish they'd make a few yuzhan vong films but I heard they've basically decided that never actually happened...

They're just disregarding all of that?  I guess it figures since we have Kylo Ren instead of Jacen Solo.

Yeah. I guess there's no way you could make 20+ books into a film. Shame though, they were the best star wars books by a mile I thought, although the ones with admiral thrawn were decent.

I need to go back and finish that arc, I got caught up in the Fate of the Jedi series that happens after.

Oh okay, I thought your analogy was solely for that last scene with Vader...my analogy was anyways.

I completely agree with you regarding enjoying the movie more the second time around. When I saw it the second time around, I was just really looking forward to that last scene but ended up coming out just enjoying the movie as a whole. I liked Jyn Erso (hot as fook, imo) and Cassian's character way more.

Chirrut and Baze are ofcourse badass. Krennic was a sufficient villain.

Just need to see it in 3D to complete all my viewing necessities.

Back on important topics, I'm going to use that AMC gift card I received for Christmas and see Rogue One later with mi hermano.

Will be the fourth showing for me...I hope Episode VIII is good enough that I wanna see it four times...chit I hope it's good enough I wanna see it 10 times!

Which brings me to my next questions for anyone to answer, how many times have you seen Rogue One? How many times did you see The Force Awakens? And how many times do you foresee yourself watching Episode VII?

Saw Empire 18 times - at the theater.  Basically have the movie memorized.

"What is it, General?"

"My Lord, the fleet has moved out of light speed.  Com-Scan has detected an energy field protecting an area of the sixth planet of the Hoth system - the field is strong enough to deflect any bombardment."

"The Rebels are alert to our presence.  Admiral Ozzel came out of light speed too close to the system".

"He..he..felt surprise was wiser--..."

"He is as clumsy as he is stupid.  General, prepare your troops for a surface attack."

"Yes, my Lord."

And so on...

I just watched Empire last night with the surround sound system I just put up.

I played that scene in my head as I read your post..should have kept going as one of Vader's best lines was coming up!

You have failed me for the last time, Admiral..you could hear the grit in his teeth...if they were in the same room I think he would have sliced him with his saber

Watching empire in surround sound with the speakers positioned just right was awesome.

Ending scene was amazing.

Hearing Vader say "The force is with you young Skywalker...but you are not a jedi yet" thru those speakers + what follows gave me an out of body experience

Talk me through your set-up mate.  I'm a bit of an audiophile.  Our neighbours have moved out for a while, so we've been watching films reallll loud lately.

Would be interesting to see a poll of everyone's favourite star wars film. Is it possible to add to OP, OP?

It's Empire and it's not close

A more fitting OP question would be what is everyone's favorite Star Wars film besides Empire?

Mine would be Episode IV, then Rogue One, Episode VI, TFA, then 3, 2, 1

There's a school of thought that says not much really happens in V.....although IMDB does indeed have it a nose ahead of IV.

I was  ROTJ man.  I was of an age where the Princess Leia slave bit made it an unforgettable film.  Plus the end fight scene is the best set-piece in the whole saga.

I'm going to do something fancy to get it in there.  I'll make a new thread and then merge it with this one, should keep the poll

There's only one right answer though and it's Empire

Talk me through your set-up mate. I'm a bit of an audiophile. Our neighbours have moved out for a while, so we've been watching films reallll loud lately.

It's 5 small speakers + bass

Two speakers are positioned just above the tv--one on left other on right...2 feet away from tv

Speaker 3 is in the center next to the tv, doesn't really obstruct the tv either

Other two speakers are positioned by the couch which is about eight feet away...one on left other on right and are at ear level..that's very key.

Bass is located on ground to the left of the tv...would probably put it in the center below the tv but it would block the walkway of our living room

..not by much but it would be more of qn annoyance to have it there so it's placed to the left..

...although on the diagram that's popped up on the 5.1 system it has it positioned where we currently have it.

Sorry for long post, hope it helps
