we are few minutes away from the donald's first press conference from Trump Tower. it should be a complete assault on the russian hacking story. The story at the moment says the russians have the goods on Mr Happy Pants and have had for about 5 years.

probably a bunch of BS. Maybe.

So in America at the time of trump we begin questioning the news as a matter of course.

Outside of twitter there is nothing worth listening to as far as what the President has to say.

apparently drug stocks are tanking because he said he was going to start bidding them down or something

its almost like he is trying to **** with the stock market.

ans as far as the auto industry goes it is nice that he is going to strong arm them into building the cars in America but does that mean Ford makes less per car or that the consumer pays more? What kind of ish is that?

He has seen to it that washing machines will be made in america by people who makes more in a day than the mexicans make in a week. So either the company makes less profit or the consumer pays more.

It turns out when you pay a nickel to build something, you can sell it for less than when it costs a dollar to build. Wild, isn't it?

An important factor is that regardless of the cost to build something, one is compelled to sell it for whatever the market will bring.  If someone builds something and puts it in competitive market with similar items, it doesn't really matter to the consumer what it cost them vs. what it cost their competitor to build it.  If they are similar quality, the manufacturer of the more expensive item will not be in a position to charge more for his item, regardless the manufacturing cost.

Anyway, you act as though it's tragic that our president wants to bring good-paying jobs to this country.  Why is that?

so you want to buy cars that are totally assembled in America?

or do you want to buy a car that all the parts are made in amercia?

or probably it doesn't matter because you have no idea what you even mean.

there are X number of chips on the North American auto industry table. they are divvied up according to nafta. if you wan to reach over and take some chips from mexico then mexico gets some chips from canada and canada gets some chips from you.

if you and trump want to tear up nafta go ahead, it is basically the only thing that keeps any auto jobs here at all. if it was a free market everybody would make everything in mexico and china and everywhere else in the third world where COSTS ARE LESS.

i believe we can make parts and assemble pieces and assemble whole cars. i am also saying that by doing it under nafta we are further ahead then we would otherwise be.

the idea that we can simply force more jobs into our country by ignoring our trade deals is what ridiculous people believe

On our own soil, we have and produce every resource needed to build a car from the ground up, which was a thing we actually used to do.  As far as Nafta goes, that was drafted 4 presidencies ago.  We are under no obligation to continue that is not beneficial to our country.

And why is it that you have a problem with adding more jobs?  I mean, I know that you are identify as a liberal (I used to as well, until the entire platform changed from "protecting the working man" to "promoting transgender awareness" and anything that spits in the face of my race and gender) and that has become their most recent stance, but why is it your stance?  I cannot even imagine why rebuilding our infrastructure, building cars and producing energy (that we are going to use, regardless of where it comes from) is something you are opposed to.

Why are you opposed to tearing up NAFTA?  Do you honestly believe Mexico, with its economy, is doing more for us than we are doing for them?

i am opposed to tearing up obamacare in order to end up with nothing for millions of people

Why is this?  It's expensive.  And it has a lot of disincentives.  I do like how insurers are not allowed to exclude preexisting conditions.  Honestly, I would like a national healthcare system in place, like in the U.K. or Australia.

They make sense.  What are you talking about?  Don't allow your political convictions to create such hostility that you can't even think.  When you start to believe that your "side" is couldn't possibly be wrong and the "other side" couldn't possibly be right, then you become a willing fool.  Jesus Christ, everybody has at least a few good ideas.

This is no longer true. We live in an age of greed. The majority of people want things as cheap as possible. This is why most will bemoan the loss of jobs to foreigners whilst handing over their hard-earned cash for products made in Korea.

Protectionism in this day and age makes less economic sense than any before, even if there is an intrinsic patriotic appeal.

They command a premium because we have minimum wage laws.

It's the same reason that rounding up all the Mexicans and deporting them is retarded if you care at all about the price of fruits and vegetables.

A burger will cost you 5 dollars, and to have a piece of lettuce picked by an American on it will run you 18 dollars.

There are a zillion other fixed costs that go into the price of manufacturing. Labor is not the only factor. And seriously, how can you call yourself a liberal if you argue against Americans getting good, union jobs? This is why I cannot be a liberal anymore. The platform has completely changed from protecting the American worker to this odd new priority which is all about gay, trans sexual awareness and entitlements to our nations worst citizens.
