You know what, I actually like Bellator's 'line of business' to be honest.

They should host all these legends. I honestly dont care if they are old, past prime, blah, blah.

I don't want to see Hughes taking on some young hungry fighter his chin was really bad towards the end of his career.

If i remember right,i think he was released by UFC from his ummm ambassador position or whatever it was lol.We are done using you, your name is not as prevalent anymore cya.

I assume he needs the money as all i remember from early years was Dana asking Hughes to stick with him through tough times and would make it up to him.So i assume he was paid pretty crap for a long time.Hughes had a 100k contract when he beat MAtt Serra...sigh such laughable money.

He might have amassed a couple million maybe 3 over his career but also likely lives the high life with high costs, so running off a couple million is easy street. Not employed anymore means all expenses comes right off the bank account,so yeah he needs money.

Would i watch it?Yeah for likely the same reason i watched Rousey,to see him/her lose.

Matt Hughes has a net worth of $8M and owns a working farm that he still works on himself from time to time.

As a simple country boy, i very much doubt he is living the high life and burning his money on limos and fine living.  It's just the urge to compete that is driving this.

We need other orgs like Bellator to keep the UFC ,mildly honest but in reality these other orgs are full of fighters who just show up to get pay cheques, they will never be champions again.

Hughes made it big because he was one of the first to really look jacked, big for his weight class, soon that ordeal had been exposed and his lack of skills ,especially in stand up he became a gate keeper.

Now i think about it,MMA has a bleak look to the overall picture.Hughes used nothing but wrestling,GSP pretty much used nothing but wrestling,Hendrick's...wrestling,Woodley ..wrestling,,so where is the MMA,where is the SKILLS?

When mma began it proved that SKILL,like BJJ could exploit wannabe fighters, now we hardly see any bjj at all,it is all VERY weak boxing in the standup and the rest is just a control gam, either on the cage or on the ground using wrestling and size but not skilled, most just strength/size.

Woodley won the belt with a blacksplosive overhand right.

All that we've seen over the past ten years says that a great wrestler with okay knowledge of BJJ will beat a great BJJ guy with okay knowledge of wrestling pretty much every time.
