From the article

He has been limited to just two appearances since 2014, mostly due to injury. McDonald said he wouldn't fight again until he had the proper funds to train correctly.

We just had Tony Ferguson crying about the size of his check he received for weighing in. This is what fighters do. They fight, and complain about pay. That's it.

Pretty applicable to independent subcontractors in general.

Working with satellite installation technicians for 8 years was awful.  The amount of *****ing and complaining these guys would do.  Over **** that was THEIR fault, like they did a terrible install and someone else had to come fix the job completely and they're charged back their pay.  Or they'd lose equipment and it would be someone else's fault, all of the time.

I have a decent amount of experience with people in car dealerships. I know all about this type of chit.

People need to think about this type of stuff when they go into the business. If I think at some point I'm going to be complaining about anything whatsoever, I'm out. I don't even start the job.

The problem the satellite industry has is that good technicians are few in far between.  We would hire idiots that didn't even have bank accounts, let alone a business plan.  Our ONLY requirements for training were that they had a late model truck or van and that they could pass a background check.

I mean we knew that the churn rate was going to be astronomical.  Guys that have never done the work train for like 3-4 weeks.  Completely unpaid unless the technician they're training with throws them some cash.  Then once they're done training they're going to spend about another month getting weekly paychecks of $0.00.  That's because they have to buy all of this equipment but none of them have the money to get basic things like signal meters.

I believe over a 12 month period from Jan 2014 to Jan 2015 we churned 80+% of the workforce, it was unreal.  I'd say for every 15-20 people we hired we might get 1 person that would last a year.  Most would be 3 months.

whhooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO? oh Mayday McDonald. Well he probably wanted to move to the easier Bellator promotion for a last chance at being a champ cause hes kind of average in the UFC & hid it behind some allegations, rather than admitting hes mediocre.

I believe that was his main gripe with the UFC.

I know that's what Bader was complaining about. Bader signed a deal that says he gets paid whether he gets fights scheduled or not. Just wait til the word gets out about that one. They're going to be lining up to join Bellator.

Didn't bader get injured a lot? He doesn't get paid if he's injured, only if the promotion doesn't book him.

It's still good for Bader, he was a gatekeeper in the UFC, maybe he can be champ in bellator
