Where is the title defenses?Nowhere to be found.

I was thinking that he likely planned it this way all along and never expected to defend his belt unless he saw no other EASY money fight.

He beat Aldo but a few seconds is not a fight. He beat ummm nobody after that,Nate Diaz has been a gate keeper and not much more.Nate and Nick have never held a belt and will likely both retire never having a belt.

So wtf has Conor done to be a star?VERY little, those few seconds with Aldo is pretty all of his entire importance.

So he aims for a smallish 155 fighter, sees and easy target ,gets another belt. Now it looks like he avoids grinding and earning his ranks by aiming for a boxing fight next.I would not be the least surprised if he fights Mayweather and retires from mma.

Then he can walk around claim he has two belts and the most money,he likes to always talk about his money instead of his prowess.

If he went and solidified with a couple belt defenses,i feel then he would deserve some credit or even perhaps avoiding Nate and taking Khabib when Khabib asked for it.Instead he has done VERY little in the UFC and might retire holding two belts hostage.

I can now understand why Hendrick's and the UFC were bitter when GSP retired, nobody wants a tainted belt ,they want to EARN it beating the champion, not some interim crap.

Speaking of which GSP is doing th esame thing,he is aiming at two belts,i am 99% certain of it,maybe 3 belts is he can make 155 and then he will retire again leaving all belts held hostage.

We need some legitimacy in this sport, fighters need to honor their belts and defend them and not run off looking for spot fights that are EASIER wins.

Why defend a belt and make 3-20 million when he in position to make 50-100million?

I'm not even a big Connor fan but he is not stupid nor he should be in this situation he got a opportunity to become a worldwide sensation if he can pull off the unthinkable.

"Has done very little in the UFC"

Aside from going a relative unknown to 1-punching Jose Aldo, winning two belts, raising the bar for what a fighter can make, becoming the #1 draw in MMA and generating $100s of millions for the company he works for.

How do we measure intelligence?

The man has a plan, and begins executing it.  He then accomplishes his goals and completes his plan, nearly flawlessly.  He knows exactly what to do, and exactly what to say and how to plan and execute his goals.  Some of you argue that he doesn't deserve to be where he is?  Well how did he get there?  He's playing 4d chess and winning.

Conor ain't gsp. What about his actions during his entire career has made anyone think he's about his legazee or any such nonsense? The two belt thing has always been a means to an end, and that end is as much cash as quickly as possible.

Not sure what about that makes him dumb?

How many of you like all this interim belt c***, not defending your belt, not fighting the legitimate contender or stupid money fights?

For me it has pretty much ruined the sport. Now I have to look at it like it's just individual fights, belts be damned.

Conor's part in these developments are huge. Would you really want to see everyone behave like him?

Every 5 years or so there's a huge segment of fans crying about something "ruining the sport".  Yet, despite that, the sport is bigger and more accepted in the mainstream than ever before.  These things are happening because that's what fans WANT to see.  The idea of McGregor/Mayweather is ridiculous but it'll sell more PPVs than any MMA event in history.

Only fickle MMA fans would complain about a fighter looking out solely for his best interest.  Do you really want a bunch of sheep saying "I'll fight who the UFC wants me to next" in every post fight interview?  How dull would that **** be, it's dull enough now.

If a few years ago you asked anyone whether or not there would be a PPV in the near future that could meet or break the UFC 100 record you would have been laughed at.  If you suggested that fighters would have multi-million dollar disclosed salaries that would have been also completely laughable.  Conor is the bulk of the reason for this (along with Honda).

A rising tide lifts all ships.

I would like fighters to want to fight other contenders instead of picking and choosing or forcing the UFC to create interim titles for no reason. I don't blame him for wanting the Mayweather fight but the UFC **** everything up in the last year. Popularity of the sport in the US is dwindling or holding steady as shown by PPV numbers. Canor and Ronda will move on to something else, in a couple of years there will be a new big name that will have a spike in popularity and then it will settle again. Rinse and repeat.

Conor hasn't had any effect on contracts so far for anyone but Nate and himself.

Canor and Ronda will move on to something else, in a couple of years there will be a new big name that will have a spike in popularity and then it will settle again. Rinse and repeat.

Conor hasn't had any effect on contracts so far for anyone but Nate and himself.

Dwindling? Then why have 7 of the top 10 PPVs been in the last 2 years?  How many 100s of thousands of PPV buys are lost each year to people illegally streaming the fights?  How many cards are regular cable for free?  It's not possible for you or I to say definitively that viewership is declining or just staying the same.  Hell, PPV buy totals are speculation anyway so even those aren't good indicators of interest and viewership.

MMA and it's fighters NEED big names like Conor and Ronda, like it needed GSP, Andy and Lesner before that.  If every card was stacked full of Demetrious Johnsons nobody would tune in, except for maybe the hardcores which represent a pretty small portion of the overall viewship.

You're deluded if you think the earning potential for an MMA fighter has not going up drastically in a 3 year time span.  Nate's last disclosed salary before the McGregor fight was $30,000.  Look at Mark Hunt, he went from making low 6-figures when he fought JDS ($160,000) to $750000 on a card not expected to do big numbers against Overeem (who also got $750000).  His pay went up that much despite going 3-4-1 (1 NC) during that stretch.

Fighters get paid what they are worth to the UFC, just like in any profession.  But they now have an opportunity take down 8-figure paydays, doesn't mean they all deserve it, I'm talking POTENTIAL.  All of the fighters wanting more money who don't actually make jack **** for the company are just wanting handouts, like fast food workers wanting $15 and hour to flip burgers.  Wish in one hand and **** in the other, see which one fills up first.  It is 100% the responsibility of the fighter, if he wants to make the big bucks, to take the initiative and make themselves an asset to their employer.

But you're right, the UFC has ****ed a lot of **** up.  But the onus is on them and not Conor.

How much money the fights make are of no consequence to me. What the majority of "fans" (casuals) want to see today doesn't interest me either. Billions of flies like to eat s*** but I won't be downing any because they like it.

I don't really watch the interviews either and in whatever case I do not desire any "antics". If I want to see scripted **** I'll rather watch a movie.

Those same tides can also sink all ships.

I hate to break it to you, but things aren't going to change.  Go watch some other sport like golf if you don't want antics.

Yup I don't even consider him as part of the UFC anymore...he's one of my favorite athletes though.

He's moved on to greener pasteurs
