Do you think it even matters? I'm actually not trolling for once lol, I'm genuinely curious.

Nobody quite splits opinion like Mighty Mouse, and I'm interested to see what you think.

You could argue of course it does, seeing as he's the champ and it will be an insane amount of defences, on the other hand though some of these fighters he's fighting are the likes of Tim **** Elliot, should we be even bothered about this?

The thing with records is that eventually people forget about the circumstances and the record stays.

I do think it is quite the accomplishment as well. People chit on MMs defenses all the time but then praise Anderson's or GSP's...

MM fought an ollympic wrestler.  a guy that contended the belt in a division higher than his, a guy that KOed a champion in a division above his, and the guy that was in theory ranked as the #1 flyweight when the division was opened.

Yeah he fought a couple of sketchy dudes and a TUF winner, But GSP lost to the TUF winner he fought and AS also fought a TUF winner.

I can't believe I even need to say this but the difference with Anderson is that he actually fought some pretty high level fighters and hall of famers as well.

Anderson has wins over Vitor, Dan Henderson, Okami, Franklin, Forrest(205lb champ), Chael x2, Brunson, Diaz, Leites and knocked out Bisping.

Dj's biggest win is what..? Chris cariasso? Benavides? Jim Elliot?

All of those fighters were on 5+ fight win streaks and, with the exception of Shale, had above average finish percentages. They were all legit contenders at the time.

Your argument would have been better served bringing up Travis Lutter (even though he missed weight like a tool, masking it a non-title bout) or Rich Franklin.

7 of those were legit title defenses, 4 were not but were still very impressive wins where he moved up a weight class to dominate.

DJ couldn't ever make it to the top of his natural weight class so he waited until a smaller division was made so he could pick on a bunch of no name smaller kids. Wow what a tough guy!!

Once again there is just no actual comparison between the records of the two, it's not even close.

His natural weight class is where he has to fight a bunch of guys that are 5 inches taller than him?

DJ dropped to 125 and is still shorter than most of his opponents. Andy was roiding and cutting from HW to make 185.

Ah right because height is always the biggest factor to determine who the bigger man is of course.

Either way I'm at least glad you conceded to the argument of Andy/DJ having comparable records. Smart move.

When both guys have similar builds it certainly doesnt hurt.

MM was 137 pounds a month before the Cejudo fight and walks around between 143-147. Cejudo walks around at 155. Borg also walks around in the 150s and said that 8 pounds over a day before the fight was great for him.

As for the records MM is 14-2 at BW, undefeated at FLW and about to break Silva's record. The division is newer so the names aren't as known but popularity doesn't equal talent. Joe B would be going for the record if MM wasn't there. Cejudo is an olympic gold medalist. Reis has a winning record at bantamweight and featherweight. Horiguchi is 20-2. Dodson knocked out TJ.
