Lack of 5 round Wars as of late.

Recommended Posts

To me this is where mma shines it's best by far. Nothing quite like a back n forth 5 round slugfest with kickboxing, wrestling and bjj mixed beautifully all throughout.

Unfortunately I cannot seem to recall the last time we actually had one of these.

Stipe vs JDS 2 was supposed to be one for the books, until stipe put him away early.

Struve/Volkov looked like it was shaping up to be one, until struve's chin gave out again.

Weidman/Kelvin was supposed to be a great one, until Weidman put an end to his night in devastating fashion.

Jones/DC 2 was expected to be, then Jones scored his first ko win.

Gus/Jones 2 was just about made but then Jones got popped for roids again. **** you Jon.

Nunes/Valentina 2 and Romero/Whittaker are the only recent ones that even come close but both of those were very low action timid fights. Not wars at all.

On the horizon I could really see Kevin Lee/Ferguson being a huge dogfight if Kevin's chin manages to hold up. Maybe even Rockhold/Branch? Gsp/Bisping?

Good thread m8

But were you really expecting a war on Stipe vs JDS 2 ? I was expecting a pretty quick fight regardless of the result.

Nunes vs Valentina II ? Hmm I think we cant really call that a war either .. just my opinion.

I agree with everything else.

I can see Ferg vs Lee being a 5 round war

Tferg v MTP could be next one.

This is the one I'm looking at too, hopefully Kevin will be able to tuck his chin enough this time

Not sure i think either MTP submits Tony within 2 rounds or get pieced up inside 2/3rounds.

Well of course did you see the first fight? Awesome 5 round battle.

I honestly still can't recall the last one we've had

Lawler vs Condit maybe??

There reason why I didnt except a battle on that one was because we had 2 fighters in two completely directions: one going downhill and warned out (JDS) and another one on his peek and totally improved (Stipe).

But yeah I see your point

Weidman/Kelvin was supposed to be a great one, until Weidman dived at ankles again and got dropped like a sack of Manure

Fixed m8

Nice try troll. Other than 1 left hand Weidman dominated the stand up too.

Lol he dives at ankles IN every single fight these days. This time vs someone two divisions smaller LOL what a fat deluded can.

He would submit Whittaker as well. Deal with it AusCAN.

Romero vs. Whittaker was a pretty good scrap

Hunt vs. Lewis was not bad either

Hunt vs Lewis was a terrible ugly fight that ended in the 3rd round.

Romero Whittaker was okay buy not very much action, both guys fighting to not get tired. Very very forgettable fight

Have a funny feeling this weekends main event will finally be the one we've been waiting for boys.

A 5 round WAR is coming

Same feeling.

I can see the main Ferg/Lee turning out to be a candidate for FOTY

Whittaker/Romero was only timid on one side, the roiding cuban was VERY timid

You must have missed the parts of the fight where Romero was holding Whittaker in place against the cage. Brutal stuff.

Think this weekend may finally be the big war we've been waiting for.

Leaning toward RDA, think he will go for a similar route that he did against pettis. Won't be quite as dominant though

Agree this could be a war, but if hendrix could barely land a td on Lawler, RDA won't have much joy.

agreed but I'm thinking more like what he did to Cowboy

Zero chance he does that to Lawler.

has been susceptible to body shots in the past, and RDA is fairly accurate especially early. it's absolutely possible

RDA is getting his head snapped back like a Pez dispenser. See Jeremy Stephens fight.

I would bet you on this fight but I'm already taking your name/sig/av as soon as Khabib steps into the octagon this month.
