Manager outlines the options for Conor McGregor’s next fight

Recommended Posts

Speaking to Sky Sports (via TheMacLife), McGregor’s manager Audie Attar plunged into the possibilities for his star client. In his opinion, there’s “no question” that the Irishman will ultimately return to MMA.

“As it relates to mixed martial arts, I think Conor has been clear that he wants to come back and fight for the UFC. So there is no question that is going to happen.

“Who that [opponent] is going to be and what is next is still to be determined. We are just starting to talk and explore all the options. But Conor is a draw. He does record-breaking gates and pay-per-views.”

While Attar would like to see McGregor fight Ferguson, who is another one of his clients, he believes the trilogy fight with Nate Diaz could also happen.

“Tony came out victorious,”
Attar said.
“I represent Tony so I was really happy for Tony to accomplish that. You have the trilogy fight with Nate Diaz.”

And then, of course there are McGregor’s options in the boxing world.

“You even have boxers like Manny Pacquiao knocking on the door,”
Attar said.

All in all, Attar simply believes that McGregor has earned the right to choose what comes next. And apparently, he’s currently looking at the many choices available.

“I’ve said this before in many interviews – Conor has earned the right [to choose] and the numbers don’t lie,”
he said.
“He is weighing his options. He is looking at all the different options and opportunities that are there for him but there is no question that he wants to come back and compete.”

if he decides to box again NO ONE is buying that PPV

Thank you.

People are thinking Conor is already a boxing draw lol

The Floyd vs Conor event was a very peculiar scenario.

it is interesting that he represents both conor and ferg though. Makes things a bit tough on him to negotiate for both guys

Best case for Audie is:

Conor vs Nate as the main event.

Tony vs Khabib as the co-main

With a title, Tony probably gets PPV points now. And this would give Tony a chance

to double-dip on Conor PPVs (obviously the winners fight to unify the titles.)

I firmly believe he has the right to pick who he fights next.

I also think he if doesn't pick Ferguson then the belt goes. If he wants the trilogy and the $$$ fair enough he's earned it. But don't make a mockery out of this sport.

I bet this Attar guy is a fine, upstanding citizen.  Not a scumbag at all.

On topic:

There's only one fight to make and it's Conor/Tony.  If Conor loses he can go do these pointless rematches and do freakshow fights in boxing all he wants.

All my respect to you m8.

But your post sounds funny coming from a Bisping fan.

Bisping fights whoever the ufc tells him to.

Conor fights whoever he tells the ufc he's going to fight. There's a big difference.

lol, a Conor v Paulie fight probably has a floor of about 800K ppv buys.... if he fights Canelo, GGG, Pac...its over 1m guaranteed floor.

Having the champion and interim champion fight on the same card vs different people might be the dumbest thing that I've ever read. Bubba, get ahold of your Canor fans.

Lol. It's the Cole's and RackyDJ's of this world who want the trilogy fight and those twerps are uncontrollable.

The erudite conor fans such as myself and BDD all want the LW unification bout.

I hear Conor's off to Wrestlemania

the toughest fights are at wwe. The Shield reunited

no one can handle them together as a unit. Strongest camp in the fight game

I'm not going to bite at this.

Bisping is no where near the situation Conor is, McG is calling everything because he's a out and out superstar. Brock is the only other one really.

Bisping is just been around a long time, holds records for most UFC fights, most UFC wins, most significant strikes I think. He's earned it through respect and the fact he's fighting GSP is down to GSP wanting it as much a Bisping. The Hendo fight I get was an odd one but everyone was on L's

This.  Dana's said a few times that Bisping fights whoever they tell him to. Being a good company man, whichever fight looks like being made he gets on board and sells it hard.  I don't believe for a minute that he makes the decisions.

Whereas we've seen Dana say Conor's definitely fighting x next, only for him to fight someone else.  After Nate I, it was "he's going back to FW".  3 months later he's fighting Nate again.

That's why even though I 100% think Conor should fight Ferguson next, I still think he'll fight whoever he wants based on who will get him the most dosh.

I do think Conor fights Ferg next because of the overriding opinion he leaves his chin out. But if he wants Nate annoyingly a Ferg Khabib fight is something everyone wants to see so could see that play out still.
