Not to be confused with the “favorite sports memory” thread. This one is dedicated to YOUR best sports moment/performance. Hit a grand slam in little league? Drain a 3 pointer at the buzzer for the win? Score on a penalty shot in OT? Survive a Rugby match? Do whatever is considered a good thing in cricket? Let’s hear it folks. Can you translate this into English please?  I don't really understand baseball terminology.

GOAT thread btw.  I will have to have a think to whittle down to just a couple from my obviously HUGE range of achievements.

I was on a basketball team in elementary school that went undefeated (I never made a basket).

I almost scored a goal in soccer once.  The ball was already heading towards the goal and I went to kick it in and missed, but it rolled in anyway.  I took credit for it and got to go to Pizza Hut that night because of it.

Played high school basketball against Andre Drummond, that was kind of cool.

Actual play: Most memorable was I think my freshman year. Got into a game and we were playing against the town I grew up in (I went to a different regional school) This annoying kid was sprinting up the court going to the corner to I guess spot up for a 3. I set up to take a charge when he was running/looking at the point guard. He ran right into me and I ****ing leveled him. Hard. He got the offensive foul.

The best part of that was if we took a charge, we got a "credit" for practice where we could sit out a suicide set or sweet 16 set.

This wins the thread. I don't give a chit what gets posted after it.

Steals can just come from long arms.

You can take somebody's soul if you swat them in the lane enough times. You can watch their whole game break down.

I used to get a lot of steals just from my speed and hand eye but never that many in one game. It was always so satisfying picking cross-overs off.

My Bad Sports Moment:

My worst for sure was when I was playing little league baseball we were winning the championship game in the last inning. I was playing second base and completely botched two grounders, allowing the other team get ahead. Then in the bottom of that inning the coach was like "you can make up for it all here (he was a dik)" and I struck out bad lol. It was a bad time. Friend of mine who was on the team was too nervous to play and watched the whole thing from some bushes. It became a long running joke.

My Good Sports Moment:

Championship game of a pretty big high school hockey tournament. Playing against a private school from a few provinces over and had an amazing game. Went into OT and I made an insane glove save when puck came out into the slot, buddy was wide open. Brought the crowd of 2500 to their feet which was boss. We ended up losing shortly afterward however but I still got mvp so feck em lol.

Jr high basketball down by two points and got fouled with .5 of a second left. Made both free throws to send it into OT. Ironically later in the year the exact same thing happened with 2 seconds left and I missed both but a friend bailed me out by immediately hitting the rebound for the win

I was 16 years old, lol. Making it to the 35th hole of a 36 hole final wasn't bad considering the state I turned up tbf

lol yeah, hitting the flag will murder your morale for sure. Especially when it normally would stick on the green but instead launches of the pin and into the water.

In actual competition:

Scored a hat-trick when I was a little kid, but it felt like a real easy game. We blew them out

Playing with friends or in the streets, I just have too many stories.

My worst performances were always related to lack of sleep, cardio or confidence at the time. I can't pick just one.

Getting injured wasn't fun either (ACL at 17, broken ankle right now)

Spotted some bullies 9 points on a 2v2 game of first to 10. Had an out of body experience and proceeded to score 10 unanswered points ending with an emphatic dunk on a regulation size hoop. By the way, I was 10 years old.

I played hockey forever and into adulthood played ball hockey in a traveling league - throughout US and Canada.  We won street hockey usa's National Tournament twice - in 2006 and 2010.  In 2006, I set up the game winner with a center clear to the fastest guy I ever saw...

Worst - playing the same sport - going around a corner, got my stick jammed into the boards and it went into my gut.  I couldn't breathe or hardly move.  Went to the bench and dusted myself off.  Ended up playing two more shifts (slowly) before pulling the plug.  I went to the hospital and it turned out that I broke four ribs.  Playing two shifts with four broken ribs gained lots of respect (and stupidity points)...

Epic. Man we took street hockey seriously around where I lived as well. We'd play rival counties, full checking and fighting. Whipped some QMJHL guys as well.

I must have seen that stick in the boards thing happen a dozen times in my career. Absolutely brutal. Broken ribs more times than not.

We played one in Barrie Ontario and the first thing they told us that it was not full contact...  WRONG - we killed eachother.  I sprained an ankle in the first game and benched myself, then focused on the rub and tugs, which we don't have in America, for the rest of the weekend.

My worst, still haunts me to this day:

I was a scrawny kid and terrible at basketball. Have never enjoyed the game. In 6th grade we were forced to play it in PE class. After jump, ball came directly to me...I dribbled it down court and provided the perfect layup. Except wrong goal.

Even as a 6th grader, I knew the word: motherclucker.

As a volleyballer I had some amssive blocks, never was any good at offense but was decent in defense. Only once I hit a nice fast ball through the middle, we had not even rehearsed that with the setter, the ball just felt right, we made I contact and I was hitting the ball before the other team's blocker could even lift his arms, felt glorious.

Worst moment was when I decided to pass on shooting a penalty kick, and the person that shot instead missed it. we were going to make it through the final. After that I have scored in shoot outs but passing that time still haunts me.

7 goals in the high-school football finals. Best Goal a bicycle kick. I was on fire that day. Match ended 9-1.

The record for the longest long shot goal on the pitch for the team I've played back in the day. 42 meters. I was so mad that my coach put me in defense that day, that I shot from the kick off line with all the anger in my right foot. The Goalie broke his Rips trying to catch that bad boy. I must visit my old pitch one more time, I hope that I still hold that record.

Mine is not the greatest achievement; it didn't win any prizes and it was not watched by many....but it still stands head and shoulders in my memory above all others.

Me and a load of mates were on this youth conference thing in Wales.  There was a 5-a-side football (soccer) tournament and as we were all keen players we wanted to enter.  Problem is, most of us were injured.  On the entry form you were meant to put position (in case you didn't have a full team, they would make up the numbers), but we filled it in instead with our ailments.  We had two people with twisted ankles (me and my best mate), a guy recovering from Deep-Vein Thrombosis, another guy with a torn ACL and another who was just fat.

First round, we're drawn against a team full of people we know, most of them pretty good players. The games were only 8 minutes long, so we figured we would just defend and try and win on penalties.  We literally all stood just in front of our goalkeeper (the lad with torn ACL), hobbling around and just getting in the way.  Somehow I kept blocking with my injured foot and was virtually hopping for the whole match.  Then with 2 minutes to go, fat lad tries to go on a run, gives the ball away and they score. Game over, surely.  We figure we've got one chance.  I pass it to my mate off kick off and he has a shot from the halfway line.  We don't score, but we win a corner.  Corner comes in, a guy clears it....it falls to me on my favoured right foot.  I'm just about to shoot when i remember i've got a sprained ankle.  Turns into the most outrageous dummy ever as I shift the ball to my other foot, and with the last kick of the game score with my left foot.  I kid you not, there was a pitch invasion when that went in and I injured my ankle even more when fat lad jumped on me to celebrate.  Other team are so rustled that a bunch of cripples could score against them that they miss their first 3 penalties.  I hobble up and score the winner.

We go through.  Get annihilated 3-0 in the next round because 3 of us could do little more than hop by this point, but that equalising goal was without doubt the best I've ever felt on any sport-field.

My sophomore year winning the state championship in wrestling. Junior Year was a bit better because I got my 2nd state championship and my team won regionals that year.

Worst moment was my senior year. At regionals I had the 1st seed. I was 31-0 that year. 1st round I was wrestling this kid who kept stalling and going out of bounds. I didn’t want to waste a bunch of energy so I was getting frustrated. Middle of the second period dude started heading towards out of bounds and I just lifted the bum up and suplexed him. He landed before my knee so technically it was a foul. The bum got the wind knocked out of him and said he couldn’t continue. He was awarded the win as I was Dq’ed. In regionals the first round was single elimination and double elimination after that. Being it was the first round that was the end of my high school career and I didn’t get the chance to try for my 3rd State championship. Crushed me, and I acted like a total fool with an epic tantrum when it happened. Chairs and trash cans were flying across the gym.

Finished 2nd in hs state finals in wrestling. Was sloppy early in final match, trying too hard to go for the win, rushed it. I was down 0-5 end of 1st period. Got it to 5-7, was underneath and in the middle of a reversal to take opponents back, but time ran out. He was gassed and I think I would have won in ot. I was devastated. He won, no excuses it was my own fault. Still think about it from time to time.

I have to many good sports stories....

B-Ball: Almost scored a shot on Micheal Jordan. My dad bought me a ticket to a summer camp with him when i was 12.

Foosball: Little league ran a kickoff back then stopped then cold on the following drive to win the game.  Our team sucked but we had a few stars. I only played one yr.

Boxing: Sparred an amateur who's dad was a former pro. Guy was a super fast flurry artist but no power, He was trying to style and i found his timing blocked his flurries baited and counter timed him with a monstrous sharp left cross that landed right on the eye dropped him and had him literally screaming like Rumble after he got eye poked. Made him quit and he never sparred with me again. lol

Kickboxing: Survived 4 rds and somewhat held my own against a really seasoned amateur.  Was brutal. My forearms and legs were bruised for a good week in a half after and that was the last time i kick boxed besides playing around in the gym.

BJJ: Came in 2nd place in a tournament at a local gym between 18 other people. Most of them were at or above my level at the time.

MMA: My brother's old pro kickboxer/club owner/fight promoter friend set me up to fight with a guy that used to train/fight for him but left because they had beef.  Rekt that mofo  in under a minute. They knew i could box and jitz so they expected me to shoot so i faked a shot far outside to bait, he took the bait and tried to counter with a heavy right then i let a fast hard left roundhouse kick fly into his dome. Dropped that fool then GnP'ed him in the guard till the ref jumped in.

Pool: I ran the table on a guy that played in tournaments in Vegas and placed 13th in the country at one time.

Sport Fk'n: When i was in my early 20's i used to go out to bars all the time and pick up wahmen for sport. When i was like 22-23 i had this hot streak where i probably ran through at least two dozen women in a couple of months. I was quite the one night stand pick up artist back then until i met my match with some badass bish who was a little older little did i  know she'd heard about my rep but i actually liked her a lot but she dogged me really bad giving me a taste of my own medicine which made me change my tune after that.
