The Last Jedi discussion (Warning:Spoilers)

Recommended Posts

It was alright. I didn't like that purple haired sjw though. Poe was doing the right thing

I wonder how much of that was changed or added due to carrie Fischer dying.

I hated that they basically took crucial moments of The empire strikes back and return of the Jedi and just added a twist. It seems like lazy writing.

Same with TFA wrt New hope

I was talking to my friends about that. I think they filmed the beginning and end parts of the movie first, and the middle last. That's why they added that chick to the movie, had Leia go into a coma, and had Finn/Rose go to that casino planet that really seemed out of place

I also thought the movie was too stationary. Like 90% took place in ships. The best part about star wars for me was the world building, and there wasn't enough of that IMO

I think having Kylo smash his helmet was a result of backlash from TFA.

I was ok with that....there is so many more absurdities in this Movie way worse

I didnt care for TFA either but it atleast got me hyped for the trilogy. Star Wars has been a weird and bumpy ride but this is where i get off. Zero hype for the final installment. All the originals are killed off, even General Ackbar, wtf!

Leia is apparently a superhero and case fly and survive in space.

Rey and Kylos awkward telekenetic snapchatting with each other.

All the theories born in TFA (Rey parents, Snokes identity and backstory), all wolf tickets.

The movie was 2 hours and 40 minutes of 1 space chase. A whole f***ing installment about one f***ing plodding space chase. A space chase that was interrupted so Disney could play the diversity card and get that sweet sweet China $ and Finn and a random Asian go to some casino planet where I chit you not, Finn is running around scouting casino tables when the fate of the entire Rebellion is depending on him to return while theyre on a countdown to certain death.

Luke's story arch was conplete bullchit. Luke would never try to kill Kylo, his fecking nephew. And the comedy seemed so out of place, brushing his shoulders off. Taunting Kylo "see you around kiddo" wtf!?

They killed Snoke and Phasma again way too soon. Snoke would have been able to see Kylos plan.

The moral conflict between Poe and the purple haired SJW was so weird and pointless. Yoda felt so forced and cringey. Theyre was no chill or subtley in this movie. I can see why Luke said he didnt like Disneys turn instead of Georges. Star Wolf tickets

I thought the movie was great.

Was it perfect? No. Even the best Star Wars? No.

But their was some things I loved.

1. Luke. I know its split opinions but I really enjoyed Hamill's latest portrayal of Luke. Loved the story of how both he and Kylo had their version of what happened between them and it turned out somewhere in the middle of both. I also like how Luke isn't your traditional jedi master he was jaded and didn't trust the force. The scene between him and Yoda was great it had the same feeling as the original. His final fight with Kylo Ren was also handled very well. Im also biased as **** for this as Hamill is one of the best Joker's ever and Yoda is my favourite Star Wars character.

2. Poe. Excluding those couple scenes with the purple haired lady I thought Poe had maybe the best of the four arcs they were telling throughout the story. Every pilot scene he had was awesome. Just his whole tone and humour felt spot on.

3. The Funny's. Whether it was BB8, Chewbacca, the Porg's, that creepy little thing that thought BB8 was a slot machine, those weird lizard caretaker things and Finn the funny moments really landed for me was laughing throughout the film.

A couple things that really annoyed me though.

1. Snoke. They built this guy up the entire of the last movie for him to get the worst death in star wars I have seen. For how little we actually seen him do he has to go down as the worst Sith character in the Star Wars movies for me. This is by far my biggest gripe with the movie, I mean I was interested to see Snoke's character get fleshed out in this but guess that's out the window.

2. Leia Going Superman. I think this just annoyed me because ive never seen something like this in Star Wars before and it just didn't land with me felt like them leaning a bit to much towards a Marvel film.

3. Rey's parents. Fair play to Star Wars here they flipped their usual script and instead of making Rey's parents a notable character from the series they were just ****ty parents who sold her off. I get some people might like a change but it took away all the mystery of her past and just made her character a lot less interesting I think.

I wonder how much of that was changed or added due to carrie Fischer dying.

What I found really weird is that they didn't kill her off? Are they going to do a full cgi render for the next film?

What also ruslted me was the inconsistent characterisation of Luke and Yoda....the established Luke would not have acted/reacted to certain things in the way that he does in this film. Same with Yoda...couldnt tell if it was the schtick yoda(before he revead himself to Luke) or post....

I wonder how critics keep their jobs. Their opinion is different than the masses most of the time.

Disney literally owns everything now. One might even say they have the high ground. I would be afraid to give them negative reviews too tbh.

It was an entertaining romp.

I can see why the nerds are enraged though. Plot holes galore and it's hard to care as much about any of the new good guys.

I'd like to hear what 12er thinks of it and what he thinks of TUF'S opinion of it.

Are people actually getting sjw vibes from this film? It seemed to me (after leia stuns poe) like the people in charge had a better plan then the aggressive pilot and they’re upset by that which just screams insecurity. Both parties were arrogant in thinking they had the superior plan and both were wrong LOL.

Now if they had a feminist argument like that scene in jack reacher 2 I’d definitely be eye rolling.

Also Benicio del Toros character....what a waste.....they should have just put some no name actor instead.

This seemed really odd given his role as The Collector in the MCU.

It wasn't star wars it didn't have that feel. Stupid jokes every 5 secs.

Plot holes, literally threw away several characters development.

Random Asian character that had literally nothing mean anything.

Luke a grumpy old man.

Chewie forgotten

So basically 1st half of movie is the plot of ESB then they have the entire middle basically be a cops episode with a high speed space pursuit, one homage to ROTJ and then ended the movie right back to the beginning of Empire
