The Last Jedi discussion (Warning:Spoilers)

Recommended Posts

An interesting observation someone made on the trailer on Reddit. Someone pointed out that throwing Luke's "this is not going to go the way you think" line was a message to the audience in TLJ trailer and the same could be said for Han's "I thought we were in trouble for a minute there, but it's fine. We're fine."

Interesting take. It could be an acknowledgement of the trouble they had with the directors being fired...

lol you think fans would know better than to theorize after TLJ. It has nothing to do with that. It's just a call back to Han's line here.

It’s obviously a call back to that, but choosing to put it in the trailer could be a nod to the highly publicized trouble they had with reshoots and fired directors.

Maybe not. But they aren’t blind to fan reservations.

Read this yesterday. Do not want. We're getting 2 new separate trilogies, 1 from a guy that chit the bed in TLJ, and another from a couple guys who get way too much credit for the success of GoT. They didn't create chit and the show is good because of the writer, not them. I honestly have no desire to see 2 new trilogies that have no connection to the OT. I love Star Wars because of the themes, the branding, the style, the music, the characters. This will basically be a Sci-Fi channel knock off with light sabers and a bunch of call backs to the OT to sell wolf tickets.

Yup I would also give the credit to GRR Martin, those guys did an excelent job ADAPTING existing material, the last season when they actually did not have stuff to rely upon was hot garbage.

I didn't not enjoy it, but it doesn't hit me in the feels like ANH, ESB and R1. It just seemed too different than the first two releases to me.

The finale between Luke, Vader and Emperor is the best part in the whole saga. Emperor's dialogue is so deliciously evil, the fight between Luke and Vader was great and the frying of Luke while force lightning reflects off of Vader's helmet until he flips and throws Emperor for five is the bee's knees. There's stories of people shouting at the screen in theatres "throw him throw him!".

Also the scenes in Jabba's place were ace. Luke actually doing jedi stuff.

It depends on what story they tell. They could adapt Knights of the Old Republic which takes place 4000 years before A new Hope and it could be really good. There are going to be some crappy star wars films released in the future but they could have some really good stories as well. Rogue One was really good and I wasnt expecting much out of it.

Disney didn't pay $4 billion for the universe to release one movie every couple of years so this was kind of expected. Hopefully they adapt the right stories and make some bad **** movies.

That's what's so frustrating.

Average Fan: Please give us an Obi-Wan solo movie!

Disney: Solo movie? You got it!

Average Fan: Wait, that's not what we asked for. That's not what anybody asked for. Can we atleast get a Knights of the Old Republic series?

Disney: Nope, you know that director you all hate? Yea we're going to give him his own trilogy now with his own creative freedom and it's not going to be related to anything in any known canon.

I would personally love a Knights of the Old Republic series of films. The games were pretty GOAT.

The Game of Thrones guys could turn out the best one. It will come down to the writing and the over site on the story. They could easily blow it, but if they have a half decent story, you know the imagery will be some of the best, if not the best Star wars will have put out.

Can only Jedi come back as force ghosts?  Or can Sith too?

Only Jedi as far as I know.

Not Georges work. If he had copied the prequels which were what happens when George has total creative control, we'd have had an abortion with the cringiest dialogue since AOTC.

I looked it up last night out of curiosity. Apparently, they can do something similar like "infusing" their essence into objects through intense hatred. They (wookiepedia lol), make it sound like this isn't something that Sith enjoy though. Then I read that there is supposedly a deleted scene from TLJ where a force ghost Sith visits Luke. It was late so I didn't feel like reading into it too much. There are a couple of youtube vids with people going into detail, but I didn't bother with those either.

I just wonder if Snoke really wanted Kylo to kill him so he could become some beast of a force ghost or something.

I'm still quite irritated they just killed him off like he was the level 1 boss.

Yea, imagine if they showed the guy behind the guy in a mysterious hologram in one movie, maxresdefault.jpg

only to then have his apprentice kill him off seemingly effortlessly.

And then having to listen to some nerds complain about not knowing his backstory for 20 years and then the director decides to troll you with a cringingly bad movie out of principle.

Rey is so much hotter and isn't a completely terrible character

Padme is a legend. She fought for her people bravely and was taken from this world too soon.

The characters ages were 14 and 9 in the film, and this is another example of the prequels making no god damned sense. Why the **** would a 14-year old be the elected leader of an entire planet?

King Tut was like 14 wasnt he? But I guess he wasnt elected.

Anyway they clearly saw PADGOATs senate skills from an early age

lol now I want to hear a Padme electoral attack ad. "A vote for Padme is a vote for a 14 year old pedophile who sets in motion the death of democracy."

It would be understandable if she was a hereditary monarch, but she wasn't, they make it a point to mention she was elected. Who the **** elects a queen?

How did no one question this at the studio?

Vert often ranks people in the Bitcoin thread on crypto knowledge.  I'd be interested to see how a scholar from a top 20 university ranks the nerdgin Star Wars knowledge levels of the frequent posters to this thread.

I'm getting mad at a space democracy. It would have been fine if it was a space monarchy.
