Finally got around to watching this. Wasn't bad but didn't find it that great either. Saw some reviews that went a little more in depth with the history and apparently Disney is pushing the concept of a grey area or overall balance to the force where as Lucus original concept was more along black n white without as much middle ground.  Kinda like the idea of that. Makes for a more potentially interesting conclusion rather than classic good vs evil.

Dat score from the asteroid field chase in Empire has me fired up.

I'm starting to get a little hyped for this movie the closer we get to it.

Hearing the presales are out selling Black Canther by a wide margin, that Disney is backing it bigly, and even releasing it at Cannes film festival 10 days early than general public. Good signs. Then again, all could be said about TLJ as well....

I found it heartwarming that between all the marketing and plotting world domination, Disney found time to suck itself off to congratulate itself for breaking it's own record

I didn't make a prediction. I stated what I hoped would happen regardless if the chances are slim to none of it happening.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Movie Reportedly Shooting in Spring 2019

obi-wan-kenobi-movie-production-start-sh

As we approach the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, a new report states that a long-rumored Star Wars spinoff film is about to move into the production pipeline. According to Fantha Tracks, the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie is now in official pre-production, with the shoot slated for a spring 2019 shoot and the film hitting theaters in 2020.

"The project is sufficiently along that an art department is now in full pre-production mode at Pinewood Studios, England with ancillary work being carried out at Industrial Light & Magic in London. A number of concept artists, prop modellers, and storyboard artists are working as a team across the two locations on the film, with the group growing in numbers every month.

Contracts have also been extended to a number of crew who have worked on various Star Wars films produced at Pinewood under the Disney era, to join the production when their work on Episode IX ends...

Pre-production will continue at Pinewood whilst Episode IX shoots from this summer through the end of the year, at which point production of the Obi-Wan movie has been scheduled to move onto stages in mid January 2019 with the main shoot to begin in April of 2019.

The project is being developed under the corporate name of PLT Productions (UK) Ltd.

The scheduled release date is December 2020."

Getting cautiously hyped for Solo after the early reviews. Not sure how to feel about the Marvel comparisons but was sort of expected when they opted for a Solo solo movie first. Seemed like a pretty neutral character to open up for intertwined stories like Marvel has done but with Fett, Obi Wan, Vader.

Lower rating than you, will not see

This almost makes less sense than that time you alluded Star Wars was more authentic war gameplay than Fortnite.

I honestly don't even know what this means Kevin.

It means my phone kept autocorrecting the acronym for the last Jedi into the word “you” because apple products are fortnite levels of bad.

It's long past time to get rid of blasters and lightsabers in these horribly violent movies and have the characters sitting around drinking high tea and discussing how the galaxy would be better if Hitlery won

They’re making it awesome by rustling the maga neckbeards. Bow down to the mouse, cuck

It seems like there would be easier ways to go about doing that than nerfing the sexual preference of some BBC. If Disney wants to get Trump tards attention, just have Luke make out with his sister again.

Going to see Solo tonight. I'm not as hyped as I was for TLJ, but the idea of this film has grown on me.

Also, learning that it was written by Lawrence Kasden and that he started working on the script before Disney even bought SW from Lucas makes it more intriguing.

Feels good to see you finally exposing your elaborate pro-Disney trolling as such and admitting the writing was better pre-Mouse.

Yea didn't realize I attended the last 3 at the Thursday night showing until I realized I could wait to see this one. Will hopefully catch it this weekend. May be looking more forward to the monthly Colby Covington twitter spoiler nerdgin rustle that follows.

The writing is better when Lawrence Kasden does it because he wrote all the best star wars movies. He wrote Empire, Jedi, and Force Awakens.

The only thing that could make his resume stronger is if he had worked on TLJ.

New Hope writing > Empire

Jedi is bottom 3 scripts of the series

and Force Awakens is a carbon copy of New Hope

May wait for it to come on Netflix now after this revelation

How so?

New Hope created a new and original ideology with great character arcs. Empire piggy backed off it's canon and is overrated by hipsters.

Return of the Jedi would be chit if it wasn't for Luke and Vader's arc in the end and is ahead of only TLJ and AotC and maybe The Phantom Menace.

The Force Awakens should be renamed Attack of the Clones because it is literally a clone of A New Hope and it attacks all of my senses.

No mention of a gold bikini-clad Princess Leia.

Kevin has never taken this long to respond. I feel like I'm about to get a Sacred Text enema.

I love the prequels!!!

9t1Q.gif

lol bold GIF usage mate

Empire is geared for a more mature audience, it's darkest of them all.

lol how? This isn't the 80's anymore? None of the characters even die. Luke loses his dik beater. So what. Order 66 and Rogue One were far grittier moments in the series.

For the amount of hate that will likely follow that statement it felt appropriate lol

For real I always remember first time seeing this in the cinema always felt like one of the heaviest moments of the series.

Less muppets for one thing. There doesn't have to be death in order to convey a bleak tone. Rogue One was awesome and my second favorite. Sure it has gritter moments, as you've said, but to me, Empire is grittier overall.

Why would I respond when Bubba already buried you. I won't even try to improve upon that masterpiece.

Kasden can actually write dialogue, that's why his films are far superior to George's.

George is just a terrible screen writer. He has good ideas, terrible execution.

Not sure what you mean by muppets but if you're referring to Ewoks as puppets/muppets, Luke literally spent half of Empire talking to a character with a hand up it's angus.

lol no. Saying Slave Leia improves upon the writing of a movie is like trolling and saying Frankie is a good fighter cause his wife is smoke show.
