Delusional Personality Trait(venting)

Recommended Posts

Do you ever wish you were blessed with the double edged personality trait of being delusional? Let me give you a very specific example and make a bit more sense of this. I was recently working at a very mundane desk job providing technical support for Apple products. When you first start at this technical support position you only work on "iOS devices" which are the very simple apple products like iPhones,iPods,Ipads, etc... The next step up for this company is providing technical support for actual Apple computers which are obviously much more complicated devices. I recently quit this job because of how terribly boring it was and the pay was quite poor to be honest. But one thing I noticed which made me feel very uncomfortable while working there was the amount of people that would take on the next step of moving up to technical support for computers when their knowledge on these devices was remedial at best. I myself knew %10000 times more than these people but I still turned down the promotions offered to me due to not having the delusion of thinking I would be able to provide a top quality service for these products that I myself would be happy with. I heard recently that this delusional personality trait is very prominent in very successful people. I really wish I could get a grasp on this because I think it would help me greatly in life... anyways rant is over...

discuss thnx.

Some say that self awareness is a characteristic of great leaders. Having seen your legendary leadership skills at play in coc, I'm not surprised you are blessed with this. Blaggers tend to get found out eventually.

I am no where near successful but I guess I have this delusional trait.  I always feel I can make things better if I was in charge.

Question.

Did you quit because of boredom and not being satisfied with the pay or was it more that the constant ID10T's just kept making you want to front kick them in the pu$$y?

Fake it til you make it, m8.

Lol, exactly how I first started. I offered twice the service for half the money of my competition and on every contract I got I was learning on the fly, kinda figuring it out as I went along.

But to hear me talk you'd think it's all i'd ever done.

I have been told I can switch between being completely overconfident and being grounded and humble. I do try to be as realistic as possible about my abilities though to not bite off more then I can chew, which is nearly impossible because I’m basically a perfect human being.

I undersell myself so people are surprised when I pull off the good things, lol

In other words, bullcrap beats brains.

What I meant is that if you pretend to be something long enough, you'll no longer be pretending anymore.

OK, I admit it.  I have the syndrome.  I really think I can move pretty high up in my casino in 25 years.  25 years is what I have left before I can retire...maybe 23 or 18 years if I can manage to retire early.  And since this is the new year, I like to set aside a long term goal.

There are going to be some huge changes to our staff once THE NEW casino opens up and it's about 30 miles away.  Many of our staff are probably going to go work at the new casino because many of them are from that area.  That gives me more of an opportunity to move up even faster.  I'm shooting to be one of the managers of my department in 15 years.
