Please, name three places you would like to visit in your lifetime??

Recommended Posts

I have been to plenty of places but I still have a lot on my plate:

Really really want to go:

Japan (will be there 2020, hopefully living the whole year or at least part of it, if not some long vacations that include the month of the olympics and an extra month or 2)

New Zealand (2019 maybe?)

Iceland (will go this year at some point)

Other places I would like to visit (mainly Africa cause I have never been):

Some islands in the south pacific to be decided

South africa

Morocco

Tanzania

Namibia

Madagascar

Mauritius

other places that I'd love to go but won't any time soon:

Turkey

Jordan (Petra)

Egypt

Some great places on there mate.

I had massively high expectations of Petra-and it exceeded them.

Funny this thread comes up because I just found out I have about 3 1/2 months of paid holidays banked up.

I have it in my mind that I’d like to spend a month seeing everything there is to see in my own country + new zealand, both where I have family scattered.

Then go to fiji, indonesia, thailand, china, japan etc... that should do it for one trip.

Antarctica would be legit. Scuba diving in the ice caves and chit would be unforgettable.

I’d also like to go to south africa if only to go cage diving off seal island with the giant great whites!

I’ve had a long time phobia of sea monsters which is what draws me to these things LOL

I would be all in on cage diving. I want to go diving with smaller sharks first and then work up to cage diving with great whites. It would be scary AF but would be so fun.

There’s places in oz that do cage diving with sharks that I intend on doing, but seal island is where it’s at for the big sob’s. Damn they scare me lol.

I just have this image in my mind of being in open water, floating above endless gloom... only to have a gaping hole of gnashing teeth erupt from the depths and hurtle into me from below.

Try Bahamas Nassau shark feeding with Stuart coves. Most awesome experience ever. Wife and I will do it every year during shark week from this point forward

Oddly in North Carolina sand tigers, which are enormous go to have babies... this was pretty awesome too. I think these guys are second only to great whites in the menacing department

I want to go out west again, maybe a cross country trip.  My family took one in 1992 and I still remember a lot of it quite clearly.  I haven't been out west since 2005...

Both me and my wife would say that our best ever holiday was travelling round the west of the states for a month. Put 4k miles on the clock but the scenery was spectacular.

I might as well name every place I want to visit.

So I got Pyramids, Great Wall of China, and a tribal village in Africa or South America.

The rest..

The Philipines - I saw some amazing places there I would love to visit.

Japan - I like to take a stroll in Tokyo and check out all the high tech stuff they have.

South Korea - Same as Japan

Italy - I always wanted to visit this place and see if it's as magical and tranquil as I've read in many books and articles.

Spain - I would go there and check out the street performers to see if people really throw tomatoes at them for not having good rhythm.

Mongolian - I might pass up the village in Africa and South America to stay at a village in Mongolia.  This is where many of my people fled to after the Chinese drove us out of China.

Southern Mexico - I hear this is a beautiful place - nothing like Tijuana lol.  In fact - it's the complete opposite.

Eventually the wife and I going to try and go all the way to the west coast and then up to Washington state, then back through Montana and Yellowstone, I haven't been there yet.

Yeah, we sort of did a curve the other way round - started at San Fran and worked our way south to the grand canyon then bimbled north through utah and finished at yellowstone. It was awesome.

Utah is underrated. One of the most unique places on our continent, and it goes on forever.

One place im truly gutted that I will never get a chance to go to is Kowloon's Walled City. Granted it was far from beautiful architecture or steeped in history or even safe. However there is something about the ingenuity of people even on a shoe string budget that is rather breath-taking.

Not much of a trip but once the snow clears me and a few friends are going up Schiehallion. Can't believe in 25 years I've never even seen this part of my own country.

1. I want to go back to the Netherlands because I only went for two weeks and it took me about a week to get my bearings because I seriously underestimated the effect of the time change. I lose 6 hours when I go there. I've read that you should account for one day for every hour in time difference. I honestly thought "yeah, okay, whatever", but that is entirely true. So yeah, I kinda feel like I shortchanged myself and there is so much more I wanted to do.

2. Paris

3. Hawaii

Everyone should experience Koningsdag "King's Day" at least once in their lifetime.

I think you can combat jet-lag more effectively than that tbh.  You just have to be ruthless and force yourself to the new time-zone.  No afternoon naps, no crazy late/early nights.  Just force yourself to stay up until at least 9PM even if you feel utterly horrible, then have a nice long sleep and it will get you adjusted much quicker.

Paris is cool but be prepared to queue....a lot.
