Finance Office confirmed new numbers on paycheck are result of raise and tax law. MAGA!

Don't get too excited, your tax cut has an expiration date of 2024, but the tax break for businesses is permanent.

That way when they lose congress and/or the presidency they can blame the dems for your taxes going up later.

I know...I thought this was a cheap shot by the Repubs. But I ultimately believe the positive impacts (especially when sunset comes up for debate) are going to be so positive that not even a Dem can let these reductions expire.

The republicans will 100% absolutely let them expire if it's politically convenient for them to do so.

The dems will straight up raise taxes without waiting for them to expire.

Do we really need better nuclear weapons, or is that just a handout?

I think it's partially a handout. People always bring up oil companies and wall street types, but the defense industry is raking in mad loot. There are enough nukes to blow up Earth and the Moon already.

When you put more money into "defense" than any other country on the planet by a great margin, at some point the "defense" becomes "offense".

America's endless wars are what's put the country in the red. But hey, let's gut medicare and social security instead.

There's a reason why Blackwater, Halliburton, and the likes made billions of dollars during the early stages of the recent war. Kickbacks from backers which included many high profile republicans and democrats namely Cheney.

This is 100% correct.

Talk radio this morning had an Alabama Democrat on who just flat out stated that the Dems are going to run on taking the tax cut away.

Do you generally owe?

When we used to owe we would literally wait until April 15th to file

No last year was the only year I've ever owed but I changed jobs and slacked on getting health insurance so it was my own fault.

Ugh ... the state of NC took all of my $400 state return ... some 10-year-old debt to the state from back when I had my health crisis.  I had hoped it was paid off... but for years I owed the state when I filed so it didn't get whittled away.  Oh well.

Oh they did ... I just didn't have any money at the time, this was during the time period where I racked up over $150,000 in medical debt.  The weird thing is they haven't sent anything to me about it in years, they just take my refund if I get one.  I think it was $1200 or something ... if that's the case then there's probably $500 left to go, but it's whatever.
