how many other olympic sporting events would you have to fail hard enough in to ever consider taking up skeleton???

would that be out of your mind or just crazy to ever want to do that for some piece of precious metal?

but i guess the people who have been doing skeleton for a while have to be good. because theyre still alive and their body is stilll in tact.   no amount of gold is going to make me strap a board and wheels over my body and fly face first down a winding hill at a hundred miles an hour.      skeleton and luge definately doesnt seem like a hobby i would ever want to get into.  absolutely not  by my gods command.

id rather watch mcmod hitting some more trees in his skiing game

Not enough races in the Olympics for that to happen.
She will be a very dominant athlete though, especially for her age.

I was more so referring to how dominate she will be in her sport.

That girl is about to make a lot of people quit snowboarding and try something else.

Its amazing to me how composed some of these kids are on such a big stage as the Olympics.

Theres one Japanese snowboarder who is 19 and competing in his second Olympics. He already won silver at 15 in the last winter games. I mean Jesus H Christ what a GOAT.

Thats where the summer Olympics shine. A gymnast is considered to old to compete when they hit their 20s. So many young people in and around that sport and they are so composed and professional.

Sports in general turn out people who are so level headed and good for society. (Minus the more aggressive sports, football, hockey, etc. Those produce **** criminals as well)

I saw that young snowboarder kid in an interview...the first US to medal in these games, I believe. Interview was awkward (not unexpected) but kid did not have one whisker on his chin.

That's when I fully realized...I'm old.

So, I see a bunch of stones near the center of the circle. So why not treat this like a cue ball and send the next stone down the pike with such velocity that it knocks everyone else out of contention?

only works if you have the last shot and you dont have many of your own rocks near the scoring zone

If I ever try curling, this will be my go-to move on every shot. Preferably while intoxicated. There will be zero need for sweeping.

I've actually played curling once. That was my thinking...it's a lot harder than it looks!!

We did about ten lanes without those slidy shoes they have. Thought I was getting the hang of it then they let us do it 'properly' and it was hilarious. Just releasing the stone without falling flat on your backside was a major achievement.

Haha, I believe it. The lanes are pretty damn long! I imagine it would take a ton of practice to have any kind of precision at all.

Not falling on face would be primary goal. Throwing stone at terminal velocity would be secondary goal.

It's great fun though. I highly recommend it...very satisfying when the stone goes vaguely in the right direction!

If I ever try curling, this will be my go-to move on every shot. Preferably while intoxicated. There will be zero need for sweeping.

thats how the canada mens team won against great britain last night. they were up by 2 points in the last shot on the last round, and great britain had 2 stones in the scoring area, and canada just long bombed it and took britains 2 stones out of the picture, as well as their own.   sure they didnt score, but they didnt need to. game over

but usually people will set up blockers and also park stones well before the target so the opponent has to either shoot at it, sending the blocking one closer to the scoring area and leaving theirs close to where it hit, or theyll try to curl around the blocking stone but in order to do that u cant just fire it down u gotta go slower and at an angle so they can curl the stone around the blocking stone and then try to curl it into a scoring position.

just firing back and forth at one another would only work if youre up against a noob who also wants to oblige.  and then all it comes down to is who gets the final shot, theyll knock your one stone out and score, and get the last shot for the next round. so if two people tried to play that way, and just wanted to keep smashing the opponents rock out after every turn, whoever gets the last shot in the first round goes on to get last shot every round and proceed to win all 10. it would never work in a serious curling game and you would just get laughed at and kicked off the team.
