Old timers card

Recommended Posts

Vitor once recommended a "legends" league. Given the old timers currently in the UFC, here's a look at another fantasy card if they were to book the oldest active fighters available against each other, in a card that could've theoretically gone down nowadays, as well as in 2006, probably.

Michael Bisping (38) Vs. Lyoto Machida (39)

Rashad Evans (38) Vs. Vitor Belfort (40)

BJ Penn (39) Vs. Gray Maynard (38)

Mark Hunt (43) Vs. Andrei Arlovski (39)

Shogun Rua (36) Vs. Glover Texeira (38)

Demian Maia (40) Vs. Diego Sanchez (36)

Matt Brown (37) Vs. Thiago Alves (34)

Clay Guida (36) Vs. Evan Dunham (36)

Dan Kelly (40) Vs. Tim Boetsch (37)

Joshua Burkman (37) Vs. Gleison Tibau (34)

It would take place in Florida, preferably at a retirement community in a bingo hall, early prelims would start at 10AM, and other old people stuff would occur.

If you are against age-classes than you have to be against weight-classes, too. Probably every one of these guys would destroy MM in the first round, so to poke fun at these guys as though they are irrelevant is befuddling to me.

They could play shuffleboard with fans after their fights.

^Also, this. A lot of naysayers seem to be against an elderly division, but these guys all have a tremendous amount of heart and experience, and they can tell stories about what life was like before computers, and in some cases, electricity.

It's a bit of a joke, just a hypothetical card for the f*** of it. Most of them are absolute legends, I just lumped them in to go with a veteran theme.

Btw, excuse me asking but who is MM?

Maybe they could provide assistance with transistor radios and rotary phones after shuffle board then too

The conception of 'old' is pretty interesting on OP

I’ve got one foot in the grave and one on a banana peel if these guys are old

They are not only old for fighters, taken many ko'd, been in wars, been battered all by most likely steroid abusers pre usada, but also most of them have a hell of a lot of fight years on the clock & most of them spent the majority of their careers jacked on steroids & other junk. Also most are not MMA fighters like the younger guys, they tend to specialise in their own Martial art or are just bangers. Oap division would be a good move to keep making entertaining fights with the $ names in the sport, better than seeing them all get creamed every fight by younger MMA fighters.

LOL my same thoughts.

He is classifying dudes who are at 34 as 'old' and mean dudes that probably train on daily basis

pretty sure the Average age of a HW is 38-40, these guys aren't even that old

Tibau and Shogun should just be coming out of there prime Ffs, in reality for most of these fighters the sport just caught up with them

BJ Penn vs Grey Maynard? You mean to tell me I get to watch BJ win a fight for the first time in what feels like a decade? NewFC needs to make that happen, double quick!

Gotta ask. How old are you OP? In context of these fighters being ready for bingo? When I think oldish I think maybe 60+, but that's just me.

Regarding patients, young adult is 18-40 adult is 40-65 and elderly is 65-death

So most of those guys are young adults.

40 is not elderly in a hospital setting. Or any other clinical setting. Ever.

Pretty sure he's just adding a little humour, plus, in terms of professional athletes, they are a little long in the tooth....

Oh, I get that. Just sayin' that the concept of "old" is relative as well.
