McGregor Attempted to fill UFC 222 Slot v Frankie

  • thenotoriousmmaI am fighting again. Period.
I am the best at this.
I put my name forward to step in at UFC 222 to face Frankie Edgar when Max Holloway pulled out, but I was told there wasn't enough time to generate the money that the UFC would need.
I was excited about bouncing in last minute and taking out the final featherweight, without all the rest of the stuff that comes with this game. Please respect the insane amount of work outside the fight game that I have put in.
    On top of the fighting.
    I am here.
It is on them to come and get me. Because I am here.
    Yours sincerely,
    The Champ Champ™

Can actually see this happening, McGregor wanting to step in short notice, UFC saying no because they need to milk him for promotion as much as possible to make as much money as possible.

i dont doubt it, UFC priced the tickets cheaper though because they knew from the jump that the card was garbage. Conor wouldve been lost money at the gate even if the ppv wouldve sold more

**SAYS** he attempted.

Yeah and do you really doubt he wouldn't? He has never lied about actually fighting someone, maybe he bull****s around fighting people but when he says he tried to sort a fight with someone out he has always spoke the truth, you can hate him but he does not lie about who he tries to fight.

How does this fit in with the 'conor ducked frankie' narrative?

Do not worry, people will still find a way to think McGregor did not wipe out that Featherweight division

it doesn't and if this fight had had happened and he slept lil Frank it would make Holloway look like a paper champ

There is zero chance that he makes 145 on three weeks notice. He struggled to make it with a full camp.

Im sorry but when exactly did he ever not make 145 or ever pull out due to not being able to make it?

He admitted that the weight cut is extremely hard. That is with a 8-12 week camp to lose weight before cutting. When has he ever fought on short notice in the UFC?

Lol, as if, lmao.

If mcnugget wanted to fight frankie he would be fighting frankie... period.

Isn't that what he and his fans keep telling everyone, that he runs the show, lol.

His fanbase is turning against him cos of his inactivity so this is just a publicity stunt aimed at trying to keep him relevant.

Me thinks this is the start of a long drawn out marketing ploy cooked up by mcnugget and the UFC to restoke the fire in a bid to fleece his fans of more of their hard earned.

First of all ,he is ONLY about money,he is not a fighter. He has been calculating his opponents with fine precision, they are all tailor made for him.

Supposedly Frankie's team asked 3x for Conor and were always turned down. Now Conor blames money for not making this fight happen,he could PROVE himself, take the fight but no apparently he needs more money than he is worth.

The most laughable part is his work "outside the ring".LMAO he has been on vacation for the lat 3 years,he has done NOTHING for MMA,he boxed and lost, like was expected,so he is very rusty ot the real fight game, very rusty.

Anyhow,he is a bum,he moves from midget to midget, only taking Nate because Nate's a higher weight class,so he has that excuse there and because he knew Nate wouldn't try to take him down.

Oh btw how'd he make out,he has no ground game, his only game is stand up and he lost to Nate.Even in the rematch he almost did the same thing again but luckily for him ,the second time Nate seemed off and didn't press the attack or it would have been 0-2 for Conor.

Eddie was paid to take a dive m8. Mcscrubs hands behind the back pose was all part of the script, lol.

Aldo took a dive.

Eddie took a beating.

BTW Frankie is a laughable fight,he is a puny midget,Conor would easily beat him, that si why Conor wants that fight, another short reach opponent. The ONLY chance frankie would have is if he can run fast enough to avoid for 3 rounds then watch Conor gas out,he is never beating Conor in an actual fight, just a cardio match.

Jesus there really are 2 kinds of people on this fourms, they either accept McGregor, or hate him and anyone who says anything positive about him. I liked McGregor, like most Irish people, he is not a pain in the **** and a complete ****, but I still do not doubt if he says he tried to organize a fight with someone, he tried. All of his contests are proof of that, Floyd, Diaz, Eddie, Aldo. Also as for short notice fights? Are you ****ing serious? Diaz was 10 days notice for him too, going up 2 weight divisions ffs.

People like to blather about "Full Camp Mendes" when Conor was preparing for a completely different kind of fighter

What does fighting Diaz without cutting weight have to do with cutting to 145 in 22 days when he struggles to make it to make it with a 3-4 month notice?

At least Conor was preparing for a fight. Mendez wasn't.

His opponent and that fight is irrelevant to the conversation though. Do you think he could make 145 on 3 weeks notice?

People actually believe this? Conor's just trying to stay relevant since fans realize he's retired. When he's actually signed on the dotted line & the UFC is advertising his return, I'll believe it.

Who said the fight was going to be at 145? He did say "the final featherweight" but he never said what weight this hypothetical bout would be contested at, saying it's at 145 is conjecture and also irrelevant.

Dana has been sucking his **** trying to get him back into the octagon. I don't see him saying no. They would lose some money on arena seats but they would save a lot on marketing.

Also Dana would have been on twitter or tv immediately saying that Conor asked for the fight but they have other fights in mind for him.

I seriously doubt Dana is the decider here.  More than likely the full board of owners who have the billions of dollars in debt to consider.

He's technically still the LW champ so I don't think that he would fight at 155 even in a non-title bout.

My point is we don't have any idea if it was going to be at 145 or a catchweight or some other weight.

Weren't Dillashaw or Faber or somebody else at his gym? I seem to remember Mendes saying he had been in the gym for weeks. Edited by cashfl0w
