Everyone's been talking about Overeem on the prelims but former Strawweight GOAT Carla Esparza is co-maining the prelims. Pretty gross mistreatment by the NewFC

For a company that has a ton of TV cards to put on, maybe putting two former champions and four former title contenders on the same preliminary card isn't the best use of their talent...

Like, why is Joseph Benavidez vs. Sergio Pettis, a likely number one contender fight, buried on the Fight Pass prelims and not second or third from the top on one of these eight million Fight Night shows? You're telling me Rashad Evans is better served on Fight Pass, a service that the UFC is all but abandoning in the US at the end of the year, instead of boosting the star power of a FOX or FS1 card?

Hell, Overeem/Blaydes or Esparza/Gadelha could probably headline one of those Fight Night shows.

A former champ against a number three ranked former number one contender belongs on the prelims? BS.

That said, I have a far bigger issue with Benavidez/Pettis being on Fight Pass. At least Esparza/Gadelha is near the top on the prelims for a PPV, so it'll probably be promoted.

Card makes no sense, its stacked but in the wrong places, CM Punk should be no where near a PPV, Carla vs Claudia should be on a main card as well as the Pettis fight. Blaydes vs Overeem like... thats a main card fight all day long, I love Tai but **** off, him vs Arloski should switch with Overeem vs Blaydes all day long

Putting midgets on PPV is bad for business.

Yea Brock started out 0-1 in the UFC too. They definitely should have put Shayna Baszler ahead of him on his next PPV....

I didn't necessarily say put them on PPV. I said they shouldn't be buried on the Fight Pass prelims. Main card on a Fight Night show would work too.

I'm backing Yoel but for me this is a real 50/50. Rate Whittaker seriously as well.

So if Yoel wins.... does Whittaker get a rematch right away for a Trilogy fight? Would make little sense not to have a trilogy with this one unless its a massive KO

I can’t see them going for the trilogy right away, I think Gastelum would get the next title shot unless the fight ends in a draw or some controversy

I like the Gastelum idea, then ideally the loser fights Weidman for the next shot or something?

I would imagine Weidman will be voicing how he should get a title shot off of beating Gastelum but realistically I think he gets a fight at the November NY card against maybe Jacare or something

I feel like we debated this topic and you were on the other side of the fence even though it was more CM oriented

I don’t really think anything I’m saying here contradicts what I said then...

I’m not even necessarily saying any of these fights should be on this main card... I’m saying they should spread the fights out to other cards that could use the help instead of putting so much on this one card that former champions and top contender fights are on Fight Pass.

That Liverpool card a couple of weeks ago could’ve used a Rashad Evans or a Benavidez/Pettis far more than this card.

... 3 inch height, 2 inch reach adv. over the southpaw + signif. weight adv. for cc

leaning toward cc-dawg ... rda in twilight of carreer, been here 14yr

** actually it's a -115 pickem here, will only play selection in tourney

a Pettis - Romero - RDA will certainly put some cash in your pocket

What fights should I parlay together to win big. Perris Yoel and rdj?

Short of a crazy yolo moment I don't see how romero has a better chance than last time. He's getting on a bit now plus Bobby is probably not going to be fighting on one leg this time.

I think Whittaker stops a fatigued Romero in the 4th round.

I think Whittaker stops a fatigued Romero in the 4th round. and still made it to a decision

...he gassed bcoz of the failed t/ds, he needs to keep it on the feet

and there is no guarantee what u get in Whitaker after the yr long injury layoff,

nobody thought Romero would finish Rockhold, or Bisping would ko Luke

anything can literally happen, it's mma .... we've all seen it

he's been training the majority of that time. made the commonwealth games wrestling team. 11 months is pretty common these days and hardly a call for "ring rust" especially for a young lion like Whittaker Edited by Ozpride

I didn't say he'd gas, i said he'd be fatigued.  Whittaker will be fresher in rounds 4 & 5 no matter what happens because he's a younger guy, carrying less muscle and cutting less weight.

Of course "anything can happen".  Given that Whittaker has already beaten Yoel in unfavourable circumstances, he's logically more favoured this time.

lol that's not a challenge. Vert is a certified cheat, welch and retard. Neither of those things are adjectives of one who is worthy of a bet with me.

I will however reignite the Oz vs the forum AV bet for this one
