With the possibility of yet another super fight on the horizon…this time in the women’s divisions, it presents an opening for the UFC to grant another interim crown.
A super fight between the UFC’s featherweight and bantamweight champions has been on the minds of many fans and pundits alike. Dating back to around the beginning of 2018 when UFC 219 concluded with featherweight queen Cris Cyborg defending her title successfully against a former 135-pound champion in Holly Holm.
The current champion in the division below Cyborg’s is Amanda Nunes and each has stated over the recent months that they do indeed have interest in fighting one another. And things began to get their most serious last night after Cyborg claimed that she had agreed to fight Nunes at UFC 228 in September.
Assuming that this fight ends up taking place next for both champions regardless of when and where, Lance Pugmire of the LA Times now reports that Cyborg informed him that the UFC has an interim bantamweight title fight planned between Holm and Ketlen Vieira.
One of the things @criscyborg told me last night is that the UFC would want to do an interim women’s bantamweight title fight between @HollyHolm and @ketlenvieiraufc if Cyborg-Nunes happens …
Would you like to see this fight?
