UFC 229-Cover Charges by Bars Showing PPV

Recommended Posts

Went into a location of a sports bar chain I go to to watch the PPV's to grab lunch & brews Saturday. The had flyer cards for Ufc 229 at the bar mentioning a $10 cover for anyone in the bar at 9 pm (EST). Fook it, I'll pay it.

Any of you m8s getting this in your area?

Paying to go into a bar is an alien concept to me.

Does Not Compute.

Yes please, I want to spend a considerable amount of money on alcohol, may I pease pay for the right to do so?

WTF?

In other news, I'm getting old.

slipery slope > 3 sports bars in town, 2 want a cover and the 3rd is free, kinda a no brainer

... the beer tastes the same to me

2 owners look at it as an opportunity to make money, the 3rd looks at it as an opportunity

to bring more patrons into his establishment

In another thread I had posted about the local Dave & Busters whacking folks for a tenner on all ppv's, boxing and mma, which is why I started going to this bar in the first place. Its not like they're expecting a crowd because they're packed for the other ppvs if the card is decent.

Makes me wonder how many places will try this for Mayweather/Pacquiao if that goes on?

I used to own a bar with some friends, $10 per seat is actually how much most events cost us to order. Of course charging a cover wasn't necessary for those. WWE on the other hand was a joke, $60 per seat, that's why most places don't carry them. Boxing was relatively cheap too but would fluctuate depending on how the ppv revenues are negotiated in the contract.

I go to a casino here in Reno (venue inside the casino where they show the UFC fights).

I pay 25 bucks that includes 2 drinks and a buffet with 'stadium food' like hot dogs, etc.

A good deal imo

Where do you go? I usually go to lex at gsr, I thinks it's 10 or 15 bucks, never a full bar let alone full house and scantily clad chicks in lingerie with big balungas serve drinks, it's a good deal too Edited by the_vagenius

People actually goto bars in 2018? Yikes.

I just talked to a guy about that the other day. Built his restaurant which is a 50s style burger joint/dinner.

I came back to help commission his MUA heater. He was taking out the beer bottles and there was a **** load of them from his opening weekend.

I asked him how much he sold etc. But we did discuss how people go to these craft breweries, or restuarants to drink instead of bars.

When I was young, bars were lined up around the block, Thursday (ladies night) through the weekend. An hour plus in line at most of these places. Now, there are 2 bars that on the weekends that might have a couple people waiting at the door. The rest are dead. A **** load of them have shut down over the years.

I dont drink enough to know what happened, but the bar scene is dead as far as I see it.

Haha no way.

Do you also live in Reno m8 ?

I usually go to the Zone inside Harrah's

Went to Lex for Amanda vs Ronda and wasnt impressed.

Lucky Beaver (across from Atlantis) is also alright but is a small bar and can get packed sometimes.

Haven't been to beaver since Andy vs diaz too packed. I usually just order them at home but plenty of spots to watch elsewhere, I haven't been to harrahs or reds golden eagle out in Spanish springs.

I live in sparks now so gsr is closer, ex wife kept houses in reno.

Watching fights in public is usually entertaining because everyone is a pro, then someone ends up fighting.

It's not as bad now that shamrock gym is gone and Gina is a has been and her gym basically gone too, all that's left are pvz ****s here for local gyms and everyone has a Bader story...
