Next US Destination Recommendations?

Best thing about the states are the national parks. If you want a city break there's way more diversity in the European capitals..... rome, Paris, Berlin, Stockholm, Oslo, Prague, Budapest... all are well worth a trip.

Also... no offence @Jolldan, but wandering around with thousands of dollars of cash... this isn't the 1990s. Transferwise is your friend!

cash is king my friend 😂

ID rather be 6 days in Vegas than SD..

Tell us what the heck hes supposed to do in SD?

Beach, safari park, boat, snorkel, Point Loma, Midway, dumb college students, I can't remember a name but there is an old mission, clubs aren't anything special but you can still get drunk and have fun every night.  Probably the nicest weather area in the US.

What do you think is so special about Miami?

There are a lot of nice places to see things, but they are devoid of any real personality. Of course I would sooner live in the other places...

Really depends what you're after. If you're looking for a geriatric getaway, Zerk is on a roll

This is a good plan too, I was trying to think of how he could split it up with half Vegas and somewhere else. All that I could think is LA and that place sucks.

flying from the uk to vegas or san francisco is a pain in the jacobs. it's hrs.

throw in the travel to airport beforehand, security stuff, it's an easy 20 hour trip, i don't know how old joll is, but i reckon he wanted to stretch his legs after a flight to nyc. imagine doubling that travel time and (well, i was) he'll be ready to take heads off shoulders. for a five day trip,  really, anything other than east coast is a hardship.

my recommendation joll, is save a bit more money and go for longer so the travel time isn't such a twat, or blow your moolah on an extended weekend trip to a european city or two.  i think it's fair to say, city breaks in the states are about fun, not looking for a place to live. for a bit of enlightenment, spiritual uplifting, hit a city with some character and age within europe.  if you still wanna party, you know the score. i'm a big fan of the states btw.

that's my tuppence worth.

I would suggest San Francisco and/or Vegas.

You dont need to necessarily 'drink and gamble' in Vegas (I used to live there). The big casinos/venues offer more than just that.

Also, like vagenius mentioned, it will depend on time of the year and what you are looking for to do.

Haha none taken Bubba I know it comes from a caring place haha, there were safety deposit boxes on offer at the hotel so I only ever had about a $100-$150 on me at anytime.

Havasu is great. My friends moved there 9 years ago and the  moved to Scottsdale a couple years after moving go Havasu. When it's not summer or spring break its peaceful and relaxing.

And havasu falls are to die for.

I lived in SD 4 years  ..all those things are boring or there are much much better places to do them.

Miami has restaurants clubs and can take a boat cruise  to bahamas.

Interesting statement. May I ask why ?

I lived in Vegas for about 5 years and I absolutely love that town but I cant understand why someone would prefer to go to Vegas over Europe lol

If you enjoy ridiculous humidity and rude, greasy Cubans that wear too much cologne then Miami is great.

I'd say don't just do one place. I did a California road trip (which included vegas and grand canyon) and loved it... Not that expensive to rent a car for a week or so and there are plenty of cool places in Cali. Want to do it again tbh.

Honestly don't see the appeal of Vegas. It's like a plastic vapid amusement park for adults. There is a lot to do there if you like flashy lights, gambling & going to gimmicky shows but i have little interest in any of that. If i made a trip to Vegas i'd probably find the desert & rock formations far more interesting than the strip. Europe & parts of Asia seem far more appealing to me because different culture, history to the old cities & the people have a soul except for the gingers.

You can basically just live life the way I tell you to do it, and you'll be ****in happier than you've ever been. lol

Forget those three toilets you listed. Go to San Diego. Just trust me.

SD is the worst possible option of all places mentioned.

You're an idiot. He comes from Scotland. San Diego has the best weather in the country, and there's a billion things to do.

Nobody wants to go to Miami and walk around in the humidity to go shopping, Pedro. Hit the bricks.

It's sunny and 75 degrees just about every day of the year. What CAN'T you do??

We already know your list. He could certainly find some quality fast food and go shopping at womens clothing stores like you did on your NYC trip. lol

LOL good post bold

Back to SD.....it is BORING....you could go to Oldtown...boring....downtown....boring and there are other cities with better downtowns(SF,NY) the beaches are sorta ok...but water is always cold.....prob better to go to Miami for beaches (heard there was sargasum/red tide through so need to research).. seaworld and zoo is boring....why would anyone pay to see animals caged up? shopping is ok but sales tax is high....foodie scene is ok.....but again there are better foodie cities(NY, Bay area, etc).....maybe the funest thing you could do in SD is probably go to Mexico LOL....ensenada and rosarito.

SD is NOT a good tourist destination.

I lived in Mission Hills and El Cajon (San Diego) 20yrs ago and it was a putrid gayyfest

.... now it's a sanctuary city, ... 20 miles from Tijuana, Mexico > I'd rather vacation in Steubenville, Ohio -
