Anybody have any recent or future vacation plans? Have been trying to get some ideas and thought the worlds tallest building would be neat to see so we started looking at Dubai... but in my research, found they're building a taller tower in Jeddah, Saudia Arabia due to be finalized in a couple years so figured there would be no point in seeing Burj Khalifa. So I start looking at Saudi Arabia... Then come to find upon further review, not to be outdone, the Iraqis are building an even taller building but who the feck wants to go to Iraq unless you're drafted to go there. So I just spent half an hour vacation researching only to confirm what I already know, middle easterns have small pieners.

You should go to the field of dreams field mate...

Next vacation for me is a long weekend hiking in Scotland starting tomorrow.

I highly recommend Scandinavia as a holiday destination although it is ridiculously expensive.

At this point, I can't help but feel like you're just flexing on me as you being more Iowan than me when you bring this up. They're building a stadium on the grounds to host an actual MLB game there next year so hopefully we'll be in attendance.

@VertFTW Was just talking to Robert_Sparks yesterday about visiting Italy and Switzerland in the Spring. Let's get a groupon mate!

Keep seeing decent pricing for Hawaii. May go and book something for some christmas holidays.

If not probably head back to Jamaica in the spring.

For anybody looking for cheap rates

https://scottscheapflights.com/

Site finds glitches I guess you would call them. in flight rates and sends you daily emails for prices they've found. Was how we afforded to go Europe last year.  Round trip was only $350 a piece compared to the normal $1,000+ rates.

Use skyscanner, then take your price to liberty travel.  They have to price beat and you get someone to manage your trip for you.

I paid $297 bucks direct flight from NYC-Milan and back from Rome to NY from american airlines website....I think these 3rd party sites are all scams.

Actually google flights is good for scanning large areas for interesting deals....IE I can scan from NYC to all of europe there and ID deals then just go direct to airlines page and buy if its worth it.

I was talking to the wife a few weeks ago about where we should go next, and we were planning to go to either Hawaii or the Bahamas because we have never been.

Now we may put that off for a few more years.

People lol.

I'm not really into it either. It's always pretty cool but pre-vacation i get anxiety bad sometimes for some reason & i can't help but feel about a third of the time i'd rather be elsewhere, just saved the money or spent it on something else.

I've never been outside the country. Only a few places i'd wanna check out anyway. I'm more a road trip guy & tbh it's pretty rare i take trips outside my state.

Whenever ever i tell people that they're like "oh you should travel... amazing experiences, cool sites, food, culture & people it'll change your perspective etc. blah blah blah" & i'm like boy you don't know me at all. I'm getting a headache & it's making me wanna vomit right now lol.

I don't share many folks level of enthusiasm for travel. To me there is nothing not much to it besides a few cool moments. I can get the same high you get off travel listening to music, pushing myself with fitness, having sweaty nasty sex, watching a cool movie or video, reading a interesting book, eating a delicious meal or literally just sitting down thinking for long enough that a profound or hilarious thought crosses my mind. Why TF would i spend thousands on a few epic moments but for the most part the rest is pretty meh or a pain in the @ss & just make me miss being home lol.

Like Nick Diaz said in a presser once when he got asked a stupid question..."That means what that means"

If you really must know i'm not a typical 3-10 min & done guy. I got that Colby pawn star stamina because i'm desensitized & specific about what turns me on & i don't keep my AC on freezing & i sweat easy. So sweaty filthy & prolonged is how i roll cause that's just how it is. Some women like that a lot but some don't.

tbf, if youve never been out of the country, youre not really qualified to pass that judgement mate. I too enjoy music, fitness, and seeing somebody get WorldStarred on youtube, but none of that gives you the same feeling as traveling like you say.

I hate people as much as the next person but im pretty sure Anthony Bourdain only offed himself because he realized he ran out of places to visit. Travel is life.

I'm not really passing judgement really i just know how i am really well. With any travel for me It takes a certain vibe & or certain kind of fun people to go with for me to really enjoy myself enough to be worth it. I'm kind of a cheapskate sometimes too & the way my mind works i see danger/annoyance 10 steps ahead around every corner so my anxiety level would already be high after planning & making arrangements then dealing with things that go wrong it would be hard for me to relax and fully enjoy myself because i'm on guard when i get like that . Multiply that by about 5 for international travel  IDK i just have one of those Good Will hunting skeptic minds so i'd have to be super pumped to go outside the country & it would have to with the right people.

I can be adventurous & spontaneous but i'm just not really the adventurer travel guy & i don't like people in general. Some people are not music people & as odd as that is to me i get it because for me that is travel which most people enjoy.

To give you some examples & this is not travel really but explains how i am a little more.

I went to that UFC event where Frank Shamrock & Igor Zinoviev was main event way back in the day when i was around 19 or something. The fights were awesome live but the parking was a nightmare, bunch of really loud obnoxious fans, you're stuck there for hrs, it's hot after a while with all those people, seats & all the people make you feel boxed in. Despite the fights being cool to see in person I'd rather have watched it from my couch and don't feel like i would have missed anything if i didn't go.

Went to lollapalooza, numerous festivals & Mardi Gras almost every yr & same thing. Have great memories for the most part but i'd be fine with never having gone to any of it.

I've had just as good or better memories doing simple things like hanging with friends at a BBQ, shooting hoops, doing jitz or boxing, shooting pool watching a sporting event & BS'ing with friends than traveling or going to events n stuff. It's just not that big of a deal to me. I'm a pretty simple guy & fairly emotionally detached most of the time so i don't get sucked in to the wonder of stuff so easily.

Also let's be clear on Bourdain. He offed himself because his GF championed me2 then got me2'ed herself AND he had information on the Clinton's that may put them in jail lol

I'm kinda joking but i also find the timing & those two things together very strange so his suicide seems a little Epstein to me which is to say very suspect at the very least.

You need to try it man.i used to be a stick in the mud who never cared to leave around home.

One trip to Jamaica and now we fly somewhere every year checking out different places and alwaYs looking forward to the next.

But, break from the crowds and go out on your own. Those countries dont need to be explored in groups and you can avoid the bs of crowds.

Some things you would still be in crowds, but somethings are worth it too.

We went to Kennedy last year when in Orlando before our cruise. Wife and myself spent a day there, missed a rocket taking off that night because of some valve, saw it go the next night.

We have talked about going back to Orlando just to go back and catch more stuff that we missed the first round.

Lots of **** to see, go out and enjoy it, trust me.

Couldn't agree more. Half the reason I work is to be able to pay for travel, nothing gets me more hyped than when I have a trip coming up.

TUF dont listen to this idiot.  he's just trying to lure you in to australia so he can record you getting viciously mauled, poisoned, crushed, strangled, or steve irwin'd to death and then have your lifeless corpse eaten by some australian critter youve never heard of before and then he will upload the video of your tragic demise to youtube for profit and likes.  if you take this fools advice and go to australia, i can almost assure you that the last words you are going to hear in your life will be "Don't forget to like and subscribe."

and dont listen to the enigma, ozstraya or tigerchamp's mindless propaganda either.  for they know not what they speak.

Good thing the naggers can't afford the gas to even get across the bridge let alone vacation there.  If you are driving you can get hit up all kinds of gambling towns along the Mississippi on the way back up.  Cherokee is in the middle nowhere but I love it when I get to the casino.  Most recent trip started out extremely well but I went into I cannot lose mode and I lost.
