glad to see you keeping this thread alive.
we have alot of orange and red trumpet vines in our yard.
little fact about trumpet vines.
1) they are HIGHLY invasive.... beautiful, but ****ing bossy.
they are almost as thick as a small tree trunk, their roots will sprout runners up to about 15 feet away from the original plant (wiki it, I didnt)
so we are constantly ripping up runners (sprouting plants that pop up out of nowhere because the root system is spread so far) in our food garden.
2) you should NOT have them growing near a building (we DO have them growing around our deck and I am certain it will eventually be a problem, but I have a plan)
my folks have one in their front yard and it grew up the wall of the house and weasled its way between the ply wood and the frame getting into the attic and causing leaks.
they are bossy, pushy, arrogant, beautiful plants that spread like wild fire.
we are wrapping ours around the pillars on the deck, going to make like an arch way from the dead cedars (currently all branches cut off, the trunks are acting as a frame for the trumpeter vines to grow up) to the column of the deck.
okay....here is a tree and a bird feeder in my folks back yard 2 years ago........ the plant will be the cherry tree attached to the bird feeder.
