(c) Jon Jones vs Lyoto Machida (Poll)

Machida will use his superior speed and footwork to remain out of Jones range. When Jones attempts anything, Machida will pounce in, counter and be out again before Jones can do anything. Jones will be beaten on the feet. He'll be broken when Lyoto stuffs every one of his takedowns.

Machida WILL be the LHW champ again. And soon.

I think Jones in this fight, just cuz of that crazy reach of his. Machida's elusiveness will give him fits but for Machida to land anything solid, he's got to come WELL within range of those ganglyarms and legs. Jones can get one or two shots off before Machida can even think about reaching him, which means either Machida backs off to duck and weave, or else commits to taking some shots to make his attempt to land something.

This strategy only works on guys with similar reaches (+/- an inch or two). Machida will have to stay so far back to avoid those long arms and legs, that he won't be able to close the distance to his own striking range before Jones can recover. Nobody's ever accused Jones of being a wild swinging striker, just unorthodox.

Round 1:

Both fighter stay at a distance..

Lyoto will try some leg-kicks but will mostly wait to counter Jones TDs

Jones will try to jab and do some kicking to tests Lyotos range

Round 2:

The round will start with Jones blazing inn for a TD or a clinch.. He will be stuffed and most of the round will be as round 1.

Round 3: Jones will now try to clinch as much as possible.

Lyoto will start to land some counters

If Jones "gets lucky" here he will tie up Lyoto and might finish him

Round 4:

Lyoto will start to pick up the pace and start to land some more kicks and long punches.

If he "gets lucky" he will KO Jones in this round

Jones will try to do the same as round 3

Round 5:

This will be much of the same as round 1.. just with lower pace.

Result:

yes.. it it hard to picka winnner in this one...

Since i doubt there will be a sub/tko/ko finish it is all up to who has impressed the judges most..

And that is a hard call in a fight i expect to be a long range single punch/kick bonanza..

Here is why Jones will lose to Machida:

- Rampage actually exposed a little bit about Jones. If you watch the fight again you will notice that the only thing Jones did the entire fight was use his reach and throw kicks to keep Rampage away from him ? He avoided boxing with Rampage because he knew he would get Koed. If you remember, Jones ran from Rampage because he knows he can not KO anybody because of his lack of KO power, period.

Well, ANY kick JOnes try to throw at Machida he will get a agressive reaction from Machida and if he tryes to take Machida down .. watch Machida will sub him easily.

Jones has fought a lot this year and that is a positive, as well as a negative. Machida has had some time off and I personally think that benefits the older fighter but from the other perspective Bones has remained super busy!

Bones will have a large reach advantage and the Dragon is primarily a counter striker...his ground game is underrated but Bones can easily out wrestle him and neutralize his subs or sweep attempts.

I see Bones striking with Machida for a round with minimal commitment to anything. Jones will Keep the distance utilizing the front kick and jab. I see Jones shooting early in the 2nd securing an easy double, and then knocking the Dragon out with G&P or TKOing him with brutal elbows. (See Brandon Vera's face for more info)

Bones 2nd round win KO or TKO.
