Hiphop Heads - exposure

OzPride

Recommended Posts

I know there's a lot of you here.

All the true heads here to post what you consider to be classic favorites that are too unknown.

one rule I'll put is that before you post, listen to the tracks before yours, and give it the justice by listening twice, and give feedback.

I've got a few in mind, but due to my heritage I'll start with the pioneers of Aussie hiphop, the Hilltop Hoods.

A lot of classics but this should be a nice start.

Enjoy and if you do appreciate the beauty of hiphop please contribute. Peace!

Oh and please no commercial rubbish. this thread is no place for ANY crap. I don't need to name names.

Good thread idea. I like that Hiltop Hoods song, never heard that before.

I love underground/real hip-hop. Here are a couple songs I consider classics that a lot of people may have never heard before. I could go on for days but here are a few for now.

Shadez Of Brooklyn - Change

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12SdJ5fCrq4

Marxmen - Driftin (Prod. by DJ Premier)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clTKL2phxsc

The Last Emperor - Do You Remember? (One of the finest examples of real hip-hop IMO)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVdMKefFh8U

Arsonits - Language Arts (Hip-Hop and Martial Arts, two of my favorite things)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcMk-E320Q4

Non Phixion - Rock Stars (Prod. by DJ Premier)

Let me know what you guys think.

I've always been really into Del the Funky Homosapien' date=' especially his collaboration album with Kid Koala and Dan the Automator "Deltron 3030"

"Time Keeps on Slipping" is probably my favourite song from that album.

I met and talked with Kid Koala....nice guy! Great musician.

Dan the Automator and Prince Paul's Handsome Boy Modeling School is excellent. And I heard Deltron is coming out with a new album....true?

Dope! hadn't heard the first couple. Arsonists of course are absolute classic. I have a signed 12 of as the world burns and the tour tshirt framed in my booth. Timeless!

LOVE Non Phixion! So overlooked and that album was full of raw power! That was the times of my 21st birthday when i threw a HUGE underground hiphop show with cypher circles and spliffs going around our rubgy club - subsequently this began my demise at said club.. sigh...

Mekalek - Here It Is

Nice man. Love hearing good stuff and getting on tangents finding more and more! Gonna search this guy for sure!

"i'm a male model... not a male prostitute... modelling just sucks .. modelling just sucks..." great album! Props Doc!! How good were Del's raps with Gorrillas? Single handedly blew them up!!

Del's the ****. I've seen him many times live with Hiero. Kid Koala' date=' Dan the Automator and Handsome Boy Modeling School are also dope.

And yeah Del is working on a new Deltron album. He's also performing the whole Deltron 3030 at Rock The Bells this year. Can't wait to see it!!![/quote']

ROCK THE BELLS IS THE BOSS OF BOSSES OF HIPHOP SHOWS.

Almost Anything by Geto Boys - 6 feet deep' date=' G Code, Damn it feels good to be a gangsta etc..

Crooked I is a monster[/quote']

Love Joe Budden! We brought him to Oz with Pharcide in 06. was a champ!

Thanks for contributing guys.

My next act is Promoe from Looptroop. He is in my top three MC's Dead or Alive, a list where I cant decide the other two, I just know he's there. Hails from Sweden, raps in English, and is a dred locked, vegan, rastafarian. Listen to this and tell me it's not seriously impressive. A beautiful track by one of the best...

Nice! Glad you like them man. I have been listening to them steady for 4 or 5 months now. They are too dope. Haha I agree. George Kaplan's voice from Trainspotters sounds kind weird but I actually like it.

Good work. Where you from man? If you like this stuff I'd have a look at getting onto some more of Hilltop Hoods from Australia, pretty much the best we have, and I grew up with them so theyre good mates. search hilltop hoods discography on any torrent site worth its weight - i can vouch for them exposure is more important than theft when it comes to international fans!

If you haven't heard J-Zone you need to check him out.

J-Zone - Candy Razors

Catch 22

The Trojan War

And Edan.

Edan - Mic Minipulator

Torture Chamber

edon - been on that since i head the asian chorus track - hands down one of the best for wordplay!

nice man. been all over j-zone for a long time. Apathy and celph titled are two of my faves for a long time and 'boss hog barbarians' from j-zone and celph is a classic!

im certain you already know of The Narcycist.... originally through a group called euphrates - if not - put your headphones in for this one.

and to anyone reading this thread.

headphones ON

bass MAX

treble MAX

volume MAX

tell me you're not hyped from that. mad flow.

number 2 in my ALL TIME best lyricists dead or alive.

1. Jehst

2, Narcycist

3, Promoe

wondering if anyone but me and 707 are listening to these tracks...

here's one from my #1 favourite lyricist, Jehst.

note I said LYRICIST not MC, I don't have a #1 fave MC as they change depending which mood im in. Canibus is seriously close as far as lyrical power, but he just doesn't have the poetic beauty that Jehst can pull off. Amazing. Check it out.

Listen to this guy rap and tell me he isn't the best punchline rapper since Big L. This guy is super underrated IMO. One of my top favorites for sure.

Rise - Wickedest Flow

Rise - Do You Know Him

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhS2DmyOvdY

Rise is pretty dope but for straight up punchlines it's hard to look past Celph Titled.. his flow gets a bit repeatitive but you can't deny the punch for sure.

Do You Know Him is a sick track!

I prefer Rise to Celph Titled but that's just personal preference. I like Celph Titled a lot but like you said his flow gets repetitive sometimes.
