Emrig
Thought this was interesting. Especially considering that both of them are basically in the same position. Both are top ranked middleweights coming off losses to Anderson Silva. I don't see how Belfort deserves the shot and Sonnen didn't. skullbone
Eh Vitor doesn't have a whole lot of room to talk about deserving a title shot. The ONLY reason Jones accepted the Vitor fight is because Vitor has a big name and he's confident he can easily beat him on short notice. Deserve has nothng to do with it. NFL_FTW
Vitor was on the receiving end of one of the most embarrassing knockouts when he fought Anderson. I wouldn't say it was an embarrassing knock out. Anderson's front kick to the chin was one of the best knock outs of all time for MMA. My favorite knock out of all time is still when Anderson knocked out Okami from his back. Now THAT was embarrassing for Yushin.

bssite
Vitor really has the fastest hands out of anyone Jones has ever fought. sobercuban
this is weird... it kinda makes me not want to see Vitor win for being a butthurt Chael-trolled Brazilian sheep .... which sucks because I really want Jones to be unconcious blowing snot bubbles ... which is compounded by the fact that I didn't even like Sonnen until he stepped up to try and save
PunchBag
hes the phenom he automatically deserves any title shot. But lets break it down, he has a win over johnson after his title shot loss which was a finish, hes fought at heavier weights before, he was a previous LHW champ, Hes a top 5 MW, he stepped up when no one else but Chael would, Chael sucks. He has a high amount of both submission and KO victories. why chael is less deserving. His last loss was a title shot, he rarely finishes fights, he poses no threat to jones at all in that if he cant get him down they might as well stop the fight, hes never been a UFC champion before, He already blew 2 title shots very recently. He isnt an exciting fighter.

Thisiswar
Chael had his shot at becoming a champion 2 times now he failed miserably the last time and looked terrible. JimmyKruger
I really have grown to dislike Vitor, which is a shame. All of his tedious pontificating about god and Jesus and other such nonsense, combined with the fact the guy is equally delirious about most other things, means I cannot respect him at all intellectually. He may have some ok wins under his belt, but let's be honest, he has never lived up to the hype of the 19 yo who knocked out two part-time brawlers in one night. At least not during this particular stint in the UFC.

TheBearKing
Vitor Belfort has no right to say that Chael did or didn't deserve a title shot because UFC 151 had nothing to do with who deserved to fight Jon Jones. Chael Sonnen was the ONLY FIGHTER who would take the fight on short notice!! Vitor and even Anderson Silva only said they would fight after the event was already cancelled. Chael was the only one who stepped up. I'll say it again, Jon Jones shouldn't even be allowed to fight at UFC 152, no one wants to see the "businessman" fight an easy fight. Vitor Belfort is like a 100 to 1 underdog and Jones will plow right through him. Jones has two options: 1. He can resign from the UFC because no one wants to see a Champion who only cares about the money. or 2. Ask him to fight Junior Dos Santos to prove to the fans that he really is a Champion fighter and not just a greedy businessman.

Back on subject, yes, you can make an argument that Vitor doesn't deserve a title shot. But you absolutely cannot make a sensible argument about how Chael deserves it more. There are other guys that maybe deserve a shot more than Vitor, but none of them are as big of a name, and the ones that are either won't take the shot on short notice or are injured. Vitor is the most deserving, able, and willing at the present time.

Jones shouldn't be fighting at all against Belfort . Yes, one could easily argue that Belfort has a better "chance" of winning over Chael Sonnen, but the fact remains is that Belfort is already a 10 to 1 underdog. It's like the UFC is rewarding Jon "businessman" Jones with a super easy fight for being a coward and ruining UFC 151(the first one). And yes, myself and the whole world would love to see those fast KO powered hands of Belfort whoop Jones, but this is highly unlikely.
