Does GSP really stand a chance against Condit?

I think GSP knows that the only way he can survive in this fight is to keep this fight standing up. l know that many fans believe that GSP will GNP a decision, but I canot help to remind you of the Ellenberger fight and Rory fight. Both Rory and Ellenberger has good enough wrestling to Condit to mat. Interestingly, both guys start to lose when they took Condit down, I mean before they took him to the ground, they are actually winning in the standup game. when they bring it to the ground , their nightmare started.

So GSP's only chance is keep the fight standing.

You are comparing GSP's wrestling control to other fighters? He embarrasses USA wrestling champions.Hughes was a god in the UFC until GSP took away his heart and soul.

The real concern is that yes Condit is a good fighter and imo the best fighter he has faced to date, because he is well rounded.

There is two other factors i worry about.Ring rust is huge, there is no way we will get a 100% GSP more like a 75-85.

The second thing has been his push to become a better boxer. He will NEVER be a good boxer and more importantly his boxing will NEVER be better than his wrestling. So why on earth would he want to stray towards his weaker ability? He does not have great reach and at 5'10 he is not taller than many at all.He should just erase boxing from his mind altogether, never mind trying to prove a point.

There is one effective form of boxing in the UFC and that is counter striking, but that leans towards the longer reach taller fighter. It also means yo udo not engage but instead wait for your opponent to commit,NONE of this fits into GSP's ability/style.

What GSP SHOULD learn he could master in 1-2 months training and he would own even more than he already does.He NEEDS to learn how to isolate and pin the arms so he can lay down some dangerous elbows in the gnp. With his awesome ability to take fighters down,he should be able to finish every fight in round 1,with elbow use.

I agree with most of what you said here, except that GSP's reach is similar with Anderson's

does Condit stand a chance against GSP is the question....

only if GSP's knee isn't 100% -

Condit really knows that he will be the one to dethrone GSP at this moment, that is why he insist on waiting for GSP to recover. He knows this is a once in a life time oppotunity for him, so he rejected other offers from UFC to defend the belt.

wow.. seems we haven't seen the same Rory fight. Rory was winning on the ground until he got rocked on his feet in the 3rd and Condit GnP'd him and never let him the chance to recover. At the end the ref called the fight seconds before the end.

All I saw from this fight was a yet inexperienced Rory winning against Condit and then getting clipped to his downfall. Had he not commited that mistake on his feet he could have very well won that fight and we wouldn't be having this discussion about Condit now. Condit won fair and square but he could've easily lost. And had it been another ref it could've been a draw also.

That was Rory's 2nd fight in the UFC. At the moment GSP's a bigger and significantly more experienced version of Rory. And I'm not saying it. Rory's saying it when he says GSP's his mentor and he tries to benefit as much as he can from his experience.

I can see how some people think Condit will win. I can actually see that happening myself. But I can hardly understand how someone could think Condit has the edge to the point they don't really see how GSP has a chance or talk about "his only chance to win". So far I've heard alot about Condit and yet haven't seen anything that has really impressed me. He's got above average striking, and he's wild.... that's about it to me... I don't see in him what so many see..

Well, it is a long time since I last watch Rory fight. But If Rory is really winning on the ground how did it came out that Rory ended up with getting rocked on his feet? I dont even need to rewatch it, When Rory was on top, Condit was ok with it. But when Condit was on top, Rory suffered. No matter if Rory was rocked or not.
